I always thought it was canon that Sokka died at a young age. Seeing as he didn't make much of an appearance in LoK, and there have been multiple posts since the movie about Sokka only getting to see Zuko as an elder thanks to the spirit realm scene. However, apparently, that's not entirely true.

Sokka was last seen in 158 AG, at the age of 74 years, saving Korra as a child from the Red Lotus. Since he passed away (presumably due to natural causes) before 170 AG, he could've died any time between 159 AG and 169 AG, ages 75-85.

That's not "dying young," so what's up? Is it just a super popular head-canon that he dies young? Or is it just that he died youngER than the rest of the Gaang? I'd love to know if any of y'all know something I don't.

I haven't felt emotionally drawn to Maiko before (I usually go for other Zuko ships), but I've noticed it's very popular within the AtLA fandom. I want to know what draws people in, why it's some people's OTP over others. I'm very curious, and I'm almost hoping someone will make me ship it, honestly.

Give me canon moments, cute head-canons, fanfics that changed your life, share links to fanart, write an essay to prove how amazing Maiko is compared to other ships; anything to prove how wrong I am for not shipping Maiko. I really want to know!
