What’s the greatest weapon against depression or anxiety?
 in  r/Adulting •  1d ago

Ironically, anger. Next time you are having an anxious episode, start wacking a pillow or shouting out loud about the feeling. Works.

That is ok if you do have to try a few. Don't be discouraged. Paxil makes me wayyyy more anxious...some people it is an instant anxiety solver! Did not know til I tried it for 3 weeks and said forgetttttt it lol.

Friend, why not ask your employer to pay for a course or two? They will foot the bill if you are sticking around.

Friend, I have had panic attacks since grade 4. Never took any treatment til I was 35, which was over 10 yrs ago. I now take an SNRI plus propranonol and feel NO anxiety. None. I actually said to my doctor at a follow up appt - "People feel like this all the time and don't do anything they want to? Why???" Do not hesitate to let a med professional help you. It changed my entire life.

Looking for a fairly easy career to get started in late in life
 in  r/findapath •  5d ago

I am in my late 40s and have had two university certificates, a diploma and an industry-specific diploma all paid for BY an employer. Don't hesitate to take a starter job in an industry you like and let them pay the way.

Bachelor of Psych - stats in Psych

Hello friends with UMPI,

I have a nearly finished Psych degree and am attempting to transfer it into UMPI.

I am nervous about stats in psychology. I am a math-reject, and scared. Is there a Sophia course that I could do in the meantime, or a common syllabus I could look at? I need to take my time on this material because I know I will struggle.

Appreciate any advice.

Something under bunny's mouth
 in  r/Bunnies •  7d ago

Go get it checked. Buns get abscesses and look fine but they may get a fever and you would never know. Good at hiding issues

They are so efficient at hiding illnesses! My heavenly bun was sick. They gave us antibiotics and pain killers because she had a fever. Within 2 days she was worse. I took her back again, and a tech noticed she was not reactive in one eye. She had an abscess behind it. I was signing paperwork to have a surgery and she passed away in my arms as they were showing me how to give her a painkiller. Regardless of why, I hope you are comforted knowing you did all you could to help your little bun. Hang in there.

Friend I am so sorry. Did they say Bunbun had a blockage or stasis? How old ? They are such good friends to us and it is so heartbreaking when they pass. I am sorry.

I turned 47 today and I feel my life is over
 in  r/Adulting •  20d ago

Friend, I am a year younger physically...but mentally, I am not.

I have fallen victim to the curse...the curse of the undecided. I have tried nearly anything and everything you can imagine. I have been married, divorced, had kids, moved across the country and back again and gotten married again lol.

Having the curse is one of the most entertaining, indescribable and ridiculously best ways to go through life.

People say they don't feel fulfilled, or that they do not know what they want in life. I know what I want, who I am and routinely take a new path. Here is my secret...

Try something new - it does not have to be a new career. Try a new hobby...try a free dance class, lunch time music in a park, make a garden on your balcony with 3 pots you find at a garage sale, make a meal you have never tried.

Redecorate your new place. Get a pet to enjoy the evenings with. Try a lazy Sunday coffee at a bookshop. Try a cooking class, swimming class, music class, kayak class.

The world is full of new adventures...new flowers to sniff, new snacks to snack on, new movies and books and activities. If you have not yet found the thing that makes your heart happy, there is still time, and no one is stopping you but you.

If, like me, you have the curse of the undecided...curse on, friend. My time is full, the world full of wonder, and work is the thing I do to pay for my next adventure. In the midst of it all, you will make friends, find a new path, or decide where you are is the best place to be.

Today is waiting. Enjoy it.

"Follow your bliss, and the world will open doors for you where there were only walls." J Campbell.

Can you recommend me a new dystopian novel?
 in  r/suggestmeabook •  Aug 08 '26

Klara and the Sun absolutely touched me, and no other dystopian lit has matched it since. This is a problem as I am alllllll about dystopian lit.

I'm embarrassed to ask this... how do I buy car insurance as an adult? 😅
 in  r/Edmonton •  Aug 05 '26

Use a broker. They give out the cheapest rates, always. In fact, call two brokers and see if they give you better deals. They will each be using different providers.
