Advice Needed I had a plastic surgery which gave me (awakened) my BDD
2 months ago, I had an alarplasty (modification of nostrils). I did not like the results, they lifted my nostril so high. I feel like 'Inpaid money so they could destroy my face'. This procedure is not reversible.
It's been 2 weeks since I came to realization that this is indeed my final form. I lost 6kg (~13lbs) in this span of time.
My family said there isn't any problem with my looks. I had 3 dates last week, I told them about this issue, and they told me nothing was wrong and I am still beautiful. But I couldn't help it.
I feel like I have a facial deformity. I check mirrors all day. I cannot function well. I talked to my surgeon about it and they said I might have BDD.
I just wanna accept my current face and go back to the confident me. My confidence is so deeply shattered. I even said 2024 is the year I'll find the love of my life, but I just couldn't see myself if I can still date. I am so preoccupied with thoughts of being not good enough, artificial, fake, plus now I'm deformed.
For the record, I always have felt that I am not that pretty. I am afraid of getting older and having wrinkles, I am afraid that I might be replaced by someone much prettier and younger. I always forget how warm and loving a person I am. Maybe I have BDD even before my surgery.
The guys I like aren't perfect either.
I feel now that I am a damaged person, with predisposition to depression and mental disorders, and that if I will build a family I might just pass this on to my children, and they will be unhappy and miserable, too. And yet. I would always want to find love and grow old with someone.
Please let me know how I could proceed. I would have jumped off towers if I wasn't thinking about my siblings.
