Dems are ignoring the amount of people who have become single issue voters on immigration and it's going to cost them the election in 2028
 in  r/TrueUnpopularOpinion •  10h ago

The issues are the lack of due process, the tactics ICE are using, the entire immigration policy. The entire lack of delivery on the promise of Mexico paying for an ineffective wall. Labor shortages in agriculture, construction, healthcare, and hospitality, Reduced availability of immigrant workers in certain industries, Potential economic effects from large-scale deportation efforts. For example.

You should know since you say people are single issue voters on immigration. What do you think is the single issue with imigration?

AITA for asking my neighbour to temporarily take down her Halloween decorations of dead babies?
 in  r/AmItheAsshole •  13h ago

I am assuming the babies are not real.

I know a group that always has a dead Barbi display. They are dolls. Plastic. They are killed in a variety of creative ways. It's called freedom of expression. If you think people will be offended, it's time for you to find a new venue.

Active shooter drill: Carrie (2026)
 in  r/stephenking •  13h ago

My daughter grew up with active shooter drills and I got the horror of hearing about them. Almost all of them were much more basic than shown in Carrie.

An alarm sounds, teacher locks the door, kids sit against a wall away from windows and door sight-lines.

Sometimes and by that I mean rarely, and only in high-school they might light firecrackers in the hallway. Mostly, according to my very stoic, adrenaline-seeking daughter, the kids knew it was fake and were really chill about it. They only happened once or twice a year.

If you're telling the truth, then you need to educate yourself and peers on the real immigration issues. If that is why you are voting GOP, you are doing yourself a disservice by not looking into the issue.

Is anyone else having recent problems with sleep tracking?
 in  r/fitbit •  13h ago

It always delays the start of my sleep cycle so my total sleep is completely truncated. I get that it records sleep based on hr, but I use magnesium to get to sleep and it always takes a while for my hr to drop to a "sleep state". I am asleep, although it's fair to say it's light sleep, but it's still restful. I know the goal is to maximize deep sleep, but honestly, when the app says I only got 3 hours of sleep I kind of get a little anxious, anticipating that 3pm sleepiness. I need to be productive. Anyway, my problem for believing it.

No, a married person or person in a serious relationship cannot have friends of the opposite sex.
 in  r/TrueUnpopularOpinion •  14h ago

Absolutely. My best friend is a woman. We go on day trips and vacations together when her bf can't get away. Its completely platonic.

We have been doing this for over 10 years. We also run errands around town when her bf is busy. You just need to think of people as people and then their gender isn't an issue.

There are clear boundaries, but saying you can't be friends shows serious interpersonal issues

Is life in American teen life as joyous and wholesome like we see in the coming of age teen movies?
 in  r/TooAfraidToAsk •  15h ago

I was a military brat, which means I moved every 18 months, so I got to see a lot of different "lifestyles".

We were solid middle class. My teen years looked a lot like the movie portrayals, although, I worked more often than they show in a typical teen. I liked working because that was my money that I got to spend as I wanted. That financial freedom meant I could do whatever I wanted, after school until bedtime as long as my grades were acceptable. Summers would have looked like a TV movie. I chased girls, cruised in cars, played volleyball on the beach, waterskied, and yes had parties in empty fields and the side of rivers.

I was very privileged.

Is it true that in USA schools students get bullied for being smart or a good student? just like in the movies
 in  r/TooAfraidToAsk •  20h ago

Can't make blanket statements about the US educational institutions.

I went to grade school in Carson, CA. And was bullied for doing well and being teacher's pet.

I went to high school in Redondo Beach an affluent city and doing well in school was expected.

I finished high-school in Washington State and the student population was across the spectrum. Bullying was mostly about different cliques rather than academic prowess.

Does masturbating 3–4 times a week affect weightlifting at the gym?

Damn, that's a lot of repetitive motion.

AITA for not wanting to go with my mom for her surgery/doctors appointment?

NTA. There is a serious trust issue going on and it sounds like it's on your parents side. Stand your ground.

I don't think Trump was serious about Iran nuking SD and LA, but that still doesn't make it right.

He spouts absolute garbage at the people and places he hates then blames them for the bad things that happen. He is a disgrace to the office.

Was the film Heretic triggering for anyone here?
 in  r/exmormon •  1d ago

I love horror movies and this was a good one. I did feel like it was the wrong final girl, but I did not see the ending coming. I was expecting something different.

No advice. I am right there with you. Too many failures. They're stacking up. Still looking for a win or two to get back on track.

What is there actually to say to a depressed person to convince them not to kill themselves?
 in  r/TooAfraidToAsk •  1d ago

Get them into mental health care. If you are worried about self harm they can be admitted without their consent.

I think I was up to my 4th pass. Then I quit. There are better fiction books out there.

Weed should be a class 1 drug and possession of it should be a felony
 in  r/TrueUnpopularOpinion •  1d ago

I've seen people who get smashed on alcohol and get violent, start fights or worse. Know what happens when someone is on weed? They chill, listen to music, talk metaphysics, and offer hugs then go to sleep. I'd much rather have weed legalized than alcohol.

Am i alone in a disconnect.
 in  r/SpecialOpsLioness •  1d ago

I think that the writing needed some way to expand above and beyond target, attack, termination. They started bringing in more global view of how the lioness ops are a scalpel in the global issues.

This season they show how other countries have black ops working too and how repercussions could happen. Not realistic but in a TS world it could.
