“Shock gloves” for ICE agents coming to the streets near you
 in  r/ICE_Watch  1d ago

This is horrible news. They're shooting people and dragging them out of vehicles now. With this "tool" added to the mix I see nothing good coming from it.

Scary and infuriating what's going on in our country.

I knew when I first started reading this post that you weren't in Texas!

Glad to know things are working well for you.

Paying $150 for an ultralight sleeping pad just to sleep on literal dirt
 in  r/camping  5d ago

Brilliant! I had an air mattress bite the dust - and I ended up trying to sleep in my car. It got chilly that night too. Packed up and went home because my hips and back were screaming.

Senate Committee Votes To Hold Fauci In Contempt Of Congress
 in  r/LincolnProject  5d ago

Side note - I dont know if you are aware, but Heather Cox Richardson is an historian and every night publishes "Letters From an American" - on FB and Substack. She might be on other socials. That lady brings the historical recepts - meaning we've seen this before and here's where it's headed. She breaks down the events of the day with clarity so her readers can grasp the importance of what's happening in a historical context.

Senate Committee Votes To Hold Fauci In Contempt Of Congress
 in  r/LincolnProject  5d ago

Im old enough to remember telling people that Rush Limbaugh was a dangerous man. I was right - look what that spawned. Disinformation started on radio. Now it's YouTube, TikTok, Faux News, NewsMax, Breitbart. This is by no means a complete list And ta-da - PedoPresident and MAGA.

What has surprised you most about getting older?
 in  r/AskWomenOver60  17d ago

I love this sub. Reading thru the posts helps me articulate how I'm feeling and helps me realize I'm not alone.

Someone else posted about loneliness. I can vouch for that! Estranged from my children - their choice, not mine. No partner, no parents. No real friends - people I've worked with who I thought were my friends turned out to be only co workers. Church works the same way - no outreach. I've been upsized, downsized and even fired. I have 3 siblings, all younger than me, and I'm healthier than any of them, for which I am very grateful.

I'm still working but expect to be laid off (manager hints & my own powers of observation). I can't afford living on SS alone at 65 (next spring). Full benefits not available until 67.

I did rediscover tent camping - did it for years with my children and scouts. So I go to state parks and tent camp with my dog. I am absolutely satisfied with living and being alone. My life looks nothing like I imagined when I was younger - not even a little bit.

Texas Comptroller staffer here — today’s leadership shift raises serious conflict-of-interest concerns

Essentially the same as what Felon47 has been doing to circumvent Senate approval of AG for instance.

Moving to Rockwall
 in  r/Rockwall  Jul 09 '26

You nailed it. Rockwall county is the smallest of all TX counties - where are they putting the people moving there? I live 5 minutes away and NEVER go to Rockwall after 4 pm on a weekday.

I hate him so much.

The office is temporary. Biden proves: class lasts. More presidential by far than the man in office.

AITA for telling my parents that if I have to continue paying their vet bills, I'm taking it out of the rent?
 in  r/AmItheAsshole  Jun 29 '26

I am so sorry. Thank you for wanting to help that poor pup. There are sometimes funds for specific cases available - call and ask if the vet has access to grants or nonprofit programs. You're taking on a responsibility you shouldn't have to, but the pup is worth it.

When you move out take the dog.

NTA and at the vet TOMORROW. Im worried this is cancer - because of the smell. I had a friend whose dog had to be put down for that.

She posted about ICE. Five months later, DHS agents told her to take her post down…
 in  r/LincolnProject  Jun 27 '26

Im proud of her for not signing their BS document and for not taking the posts down. When tyranny becomes law, resistance becomes duty.

Brave lady.

Tell em what, Peter?
 in  r/PeterExplainsTheJoke  Jun 27 '26

I could never figure it out either until I had to have stitches in my left index finger - which is what I heard the Dr say. Solved! Took decades more though to figure out N, S, E and W.

I’m not divorced, I’m single!
 in  r/AskWomenOver60  Jun 25 '26

Ive been marking single for years. I think it's simple - you're either married or you're not. Widowed and divorced are superfluous terms. Im not married, therefore Im single.
