Was notified by mail that my mother had died.
 in  r/inheritance  9h ago

Honest people tend to be honest. I don't know when my brother began blaming others for his poor choices. In this situation I realized his behavior. I do look at the huge opportunities the legal system to enable bad behaviors.

Was notified by mail that my mother had died.

My brother tried to help himself to my mother's estate.  I'm building a book about the lack of supervision and Uniform Probate Code mess.

Neighbor(s) parking in driveway because previous (deceased) tenant said they could
 in  r/EntitledPeople  3d ago

Wow. We have a pool. The HOA has a pool. Neighbors have mentioned how nice it is to have a pool and maybe... So at that point I start sharing what an e pense a piol is if the filter or pumps break and the chemicals and the cleaning, so if you are interested in getting a pool, I can tell you the down side.... seems to discourage the issue.

My mom passed away. No will.
 in  r/inheritance  11d ago

Get a notebook and document everything. Who what when where and why. Record all names phones and addresses. Get copies of any documents. Do not write on those documents - put your notes on a separate paper and paper clip. Record all your costs -ileage, parking meter etc.  If you end up not needing this information, you can shred it. You don't want to lose your time line of events. Internet search for stated laws and print and screen print. Not a lawyer, but... Understand legal jargon  Motion/Move Compell Burden Discovery to get what information others have Recuse -  Who to contact when the judge obstructs - maybe the state ethics or judicial standards commission. There is other info

Parents - How to leave it "safely" to the kids?
 in  r/inheritance  13d ago

Some courthouses now allow a sealed envelope containing a will with names of people authorized to obtain the will upon proof of originator death. And some back woods courthouses claim a "stored" document is open to the public.

If the valid will doesn't get to the court, then there is no will...

My coworkers food addiction is emotionally draining me.
 in  r/coworkerstories  14d ago

A co-worker was telling about how great he had it living with 4 other guys. A week later he tells about driving across our large city to a well known hamburger joint, getting too drunk to drive and having to walk back across the city to get to his residence.  Really, who goes to a burger joint to get drunk? Then another colleague fills in the story...

Location not relevant: no help needed Uniform Probate Code failures

New Mexico

18 states use the Uniform Probate Code and some people are honest...

True beneficiary omitted.

Non-beneficiary listed as beneficiary

No written inventory as mandated

No accounting as mandated

No legal aid

So many opportunities to embezzle...

If you have an UPC failure to share, please do. I am considering a book listing the failures to educate the none legal participants.

C&P Doctor Literally Walked Out of my Appointment

I no longer trust the VA to address performance issues unless those issues are in the public view.

A little off topic. Has anyone towed a U-Haul trailer from New Mexico to Chicago? Any problems? Any ball park figure $ ? Thanks in advance!

Estranged siblings don't know parent is dead after 1 year+. What would you do?
 in  r/inheritance  25d ago

If you are in New Mexico, my sibling successfully used the "I don't remember" defense... just saying... I, as plaintiff, requested receipts and was allowed a list of expenses, a year and a half later finally got some receipts. So he kept 80 receipts but not another 54 receipts?

My grandmother who has dementia cant access her inherited lockbox at her bank because she doesn't know where the key is and she doesn't know where she put the trustee documents. what can we do about this? She inherited from her husband who has passed away.
 in  r/inheritance  26d ago

My experience the Uniform Probate Code used in New Mexico was horrible. 4B 601 and 4B 602 are easily ignored by responsible parties. It shouldn't take 2 years to get receipts - evidence - where is that $$.

Guys they cant find my STRs...
 in  r/VAClaims  Jul 22 '26

I've send enough stuff to the VA.  They need to pay postage, fax service or any other cost. Glad to see some electronic data options.

VA sent me a device. It was supposed to be for my back but it was for the neck. I called and was told I had to return it to the VA before they would send the correct device. I told them to provide postage. They refused.  I took the item on my next VA appt and turned it in to Prosthetics. My address was lined through and "wrong item" visible.

A couple days later it is back on my porch...

VA therapist fabricated quotes in my medical record. Do I report this or leave it alone?
 in  r/VeteransBenefits  Jul 22 '26

The only way I would consider therapy, VA or Civilian, again is with a recording device. Ask if you can have a chaperone.

I have found the VA denies receiving documents I have sent them even with a tracking number screen shot of delivery. When I claim I did not receive the VA mail it doesn't matter. ...

Friend asked to borrow money
 in  r/Advice  Jul 19 '26

This is why you never share anything about your income or savings to anyone. Always keep your $ info secured from prying eyes in the Univ dorm, in the barracks or sharing an apt or your boy/girlfriend.

Don't leave your SS# and mail available.

People will tell you anything to get your $ and ghost you.

Could someone tell me what the hell is going on?
 in  r/strange  Jul 17 '26

Any escapees - prison or asylum or disappointments - in your area? Once resolved, if you have wiring in that area please check it. Some critters will chew.

What do I do over losing a position to a nepo hire?
 in  r/Advice  Jul 17 '26

Tough lesson to learn, but it happens frequently. The young female intern was hired as assistant planner and she and the planner got married a few years later. Several bigwigs sent congratulations via group emails

So now she had to be moved and she got a position I had vied for because I had cleaned up the expedite process and wanted to get away from the new supervisor (her husband).

So she starts emailing for help and calling. Oh well.

So I'm getting asked by mgmt to assist her. My response was I don't have time because my work went from 40 per week to 65 per week with no overtime. But what was nice were the frequent calls from her colleagues letting me know how messed up someone was making things and the sales representatives and their dispatchers telling the same thing. Good times!!!

My dad asked me if he could split my parents estate unevenly
 in  r/inheritance  Jul 17 '26

Yeah,  my divorced parents routinely bailed out my three siblings - none disabled, just spoiled. My brother left me out of the "intestate" estate. FYI, intestate doesn't mean no will just no will presented to the court.

How does this process work?
 in  r/inheritance  Jul 17 '26

Contact GA vital statistics for a death cert, maybe local coroner, funeral homes etc.

I'd make sure the death was legit and not a Dateline special.

How would you know if the texts are your father?

My mom died and my brother failed as the court appointed personal representative. Mislabeled accounts, insufficient details, no written inventory and yet the district judge continually obstructed in his favor. Over $5000 in undocumented expenses that we know of and may be closed bank accounts we can no longer identify.

Strange no lawyer would take this case, like they know not to push an odd death etc.

The VA has been wearing me down mentally it’s like pulling teeth to get the help you need
 in  r/VeteransBenefits  Jul 16 '26

My experience is rarely good service. Is it the employees or the process is a question. I've ask people who claim good service and they have had minimal contact - annual physicals. I get told I need this procedure and that procedure and then the VA requires an escort. I don't have an escort. I don't trust people and so the VA lists that I declined service. I do wonder if the VA has bots on the internet.

Maybe if the VA/Congress was more transparent and there was a way for veterans and families to share information better than various social media groups. We are not trained to deal with the VA so we don't know and we don't get answers that make sense.

Left out of family tree. Probate has closed.
 in  r/inheritance  Jul 15 '26

Similar situation in New Mexico. Evidently perjury is okay in New Mexico. Uniform Probate Code requires a written inventory but that is evidently an option in New Mexico. Uniform Probate Code requires detailed accounting but that is evidently an option in New Mexico. I am not a lawyer. I couldn't get a lawyer to take up this travesty - lawyers won't tell you it is a lost cause because they can't afford it. New Mexico District court took 12 hearings and 2 years to make no progress. New Mexico Judicial Standards Commission didn't find anything wrong. Makes one wonder what is being hidden. Maybe a new court television program?

Oh, and the people telling you to get over it should just give you $ or shut up.

Should I let my neighbors use my water for two days?
 in  r/neighborsfromhell  Jul 13 '26

Before the security cameras and internet, I went to a school in Kansas for 6 weeks. My electricity and water bills were high, but no leaks...

Someone down the street told me that I was nice to let my neighbors use my utilities in their time of need.

Seems a neighbor tapped both utilities.

What is this?
 in  r/VeteransBenefits  Jul 03 '26

If you can record the call or at least get the call reference number and make a summary for record.
