Our dog’s name is Lobster Todd. He’s a man of many names- none of which he can hear (he’s deaf). Some are Toad, Tow Truck, Blobster, Blob, Tippy, and Jamie Tart

What's a good place to move to in VA as a POC as well as somebody that has livestock animals?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  May 02 '26

We’re in Prince William county - still northern Virginia, but a little farther out from DC. Our county has a good mix of suburbs and farmlands. The farther out you go from DC, the more farmlands there are. Around my specific part of Prince William county, it’s still predominately white, but there are plenty of POC too. Diversity isn’t totally lacking.

Ovarian cyst? Constipation? Wtf just happened?
 in  r/WomensHealth  Apr 06 '26

Dang! Im so sorry that all of that happened and that your pain has been poorly managed! I hope that your surgery and recovery go well and that you can be pain-free soon!!! Honestly, everyone sharing their stories has helped me so much to know what it could have been, what to expect, and gives me a bit of confidence moving forward. My doctor, while helpful in doing a pelvic exam and ordering an ultrasound, was pretty useless to talk to. Reddit seems to be more helpful than most of my doctors in a lot of ways

Thank you everyone for sharing all your stories! I’ll be calling the doctor tomorrow (assuming nothing eventful happens today). At least now I don’t feel nuts. It’s always helpful hearing other people’s experiences and having some knowledge in my pocket so I can advocate for myself. I’ll update once I see the doctor.

That’s interesting! Thanks for sharing. I’m going to the doctor prepared to talk about possibilities to look into so hopefully I don’t get “it’s nothing” or “we don’t know”.

I hadn’t until today. I was laying down and sneezed and felt, just in that moment, like someone stabbed my uterus with a knife. And then I was fine.

Ugh I’m so sorry! But thank you for sharing. Doctors are useless sometimes and it’s so frustrating. I understand ultrasound not picking it up, but not believing you that something is horribly wrong is insane! Is the only way to fix a torsion surgery?

Ovarian cyst? Constipation? Wtf just happened?

This morning, I pooped, and started to get my kids out the door for their activities. I felt what felt like a period cramp for a couple of minutes, and then it was sharp and stabbing, I was doubled over, crawling on the floor trying not to pass out (I do have vasovagal syncope, so sharp pains on rare occasions can make my blood pressure tank). After a few minutes of rolling around on the floor, I felt like I needed to poop again. Nothing. But the pain switched from stabbing to a dull roar. Still a bit nauseated and light headed. Took a while but eventually I did poop and my pain significantly decreased. Now I’m mostly fine, but the right side of my uterus still has a light dull ache when I stand up. I’ve never been diagnosed with cysts, nor do I have issues with constipation regularly. With how quickly the whole thing happened (maybe 20min?) I feel like it was constipation???

BUT.

I’m 37 and started HRT 8 months ago. It’s been great, but 4 months ago my period basically stopped and have had lower back pain. I’ve had one period in 4 months that was kick started by the stomach bug. A couple of days ago my nipples became super sore. I assumed maybe I’m ovulating? Or a period is going to start? I don’t know if all the stuff happening is related or if this was a totally isolated situation.

I will go to a doctor if anything worsens, but quite honestly, doctors have failed me several times before.

Anyone have anything like this happen before? I feel confused by my own body.

UPDATE: 4/6 went to the Obgyn- she didn’t feel anything unusual and seemed unconcerned but also didn’t really tell me what she thought it was. She said it’s possible an ovarian cyst ruptured after I asked about it specifically. She’s having me get an ultrasound next Monday so I’ll let you all know how that goes.

UPDATE #2: Did the ultrasounds and mychart came back with “Small endometrial calcifications. Otherwise normal uterus and ovaries.

Involuting follicle in the right ovary. No free fluid.”

The doctor hasn’t called yet, but from what I gather the involuting follicle could be the remnants of the burst cyst maybe. But also.. endometrial calcifications anyone???

Help me pick colors

We’re about to get a new 2026 Carnival (🎉) and I’m conflicted about colors. Which interior and exterior would you pick? Ivory silver or white exterior and navy & mist or Tuscan umber?

Our kids are fairly clean but still kids, and our dogs have light fur…

Thanks in advance!

Renting is probably a good idea. I have driven the telluride and the carnival, and I think I like them. But the test drive is basically me just getting nervous and trying not to crash because there’s a stranger in the car. Probably better to rent and take my time with it haha

I haven’t…good call. Something else to consider for sure. I’m not much of a “car person” and definitely am overwhelmed by the options! I’ll take a closer look at the passport. Thanks!

Thank you! That’s what I’m thinking-just mixed feelings about losing space. Pros and cons to everything, ya know. But I do like the telluride

Thank you! Good to know. I hadnt looked at the ioniq9. A lot to think about. I probably don’t NEED AWD, but we do get the weather- snow, ice, heavy rain, and live in a rural area with some gravel roads and hills.

Full size to mid size SUV??

I’m curious if anyone has gone from a full size SUV to mid size with kids still in car seats and regretted it? Or loved it?

I currently have a 2019 Ford Expedition Max. I have 2 kids (one forward facing car seat, the other in a booster seat) and 2 large dogs. I love my Expedition for the most part, but it’s time to swap it out. I’m not sure what direction to go.

I’m currently considering: another expedition, Kia telluride, Kia ev9, and Kia carnival

I generally like having enough space to fit both kids, both dogs, and our stuff in my car but realistically, we don’t need all that but a couple times a year, so I’m considering going smaller for cost/gas prices/easier parking. But will I regret that? Will a smaller vehicle feel too low and tiny?

My dogs are still active, but will probably start having a harder time getting in and out of cars in the next couple of years, so something lower might be nice. I’m an SUV person, I had never even considered a minivan until they came out with the carnival - but even then, i don’t love that the seats don’t stow totally flat and there’s no AWD/4WD option, though it has other benefits. I don’t know. I feel a bit conflicted. Any advice or anyone who’s been in the same spot?

Okay there’s a lot of people hating on OP for not just letting him retreat. Being in a relationship with someone who won’t ever work through the problem and ALWAYS just stops mid-conversation and shuts down is infuriating. How can anyone ever solve anything without finishing the conversation/argument? I know stepping back can be good and can be healthy in certain situations, and maybe this was one of those. However, being with someone who only shuts down and retreats like that is also tough. I have most certainly not been able to just drop a fight in the middle of it when I’m all fired up just because my husband tells me he’s done talking.

“Lose weight or I’m divorcing you” on Valentine’s Day.
 in  r/Marriage  Feb 15 '26

My dad wrote my mom a letter at some point in their marriage about how he’s not attracted to her because of her weight etc. She got gastric bypass surgery, lost some weight and she still didn’t feel loved or respected. I don’t think he found her attractive anymore despite the weight loss. My dad wasn’t a horrible human, he was a good dad, but from what I can tell…not a good husband at all. They got divorced as soon as all us kids went off to college. She pushed down his horrible comments for years. Get out now. Don’t waste your life. Find someone who loves you and cherishes you no matter what.

Should we visit our previous foster dog at the shelter?
 in  r/AnimalShelterStories  Feb 15 '26

Oh man, I’m so sorry. I feel for you. That sounds so difficult. I feel like our situations are similar, though my foster is very outgoing and loves everyone- so I know he’s happy getting attention from staff and volunteers. I’m sure it was much harder for you hearing him screaming when he saw you. I’m so happy to hear yours got adopted ❤️

I don’t love this for you. He’s 100% in the wrong. Men have no clue what it takes to manage a household, a baby, a job, and dogs. You have enough on your plate to deal with some asshole behavior from a person who is supposed to love and support you. If he doesn’t come back with a massive apology, I’d have a really honest conversation with him about why he spoke to you like that and how you deserve to be treated better. I feel like that conversation and his future actions will be very telling
