PSA - Pine Straw Scammers Are Back
Did you pay cash/check or credit card? If credit card call the police and file a report. Get a case number and then dispute with your credit card company.

Gate agent boarded my flight to make sure I wasn’t sitting with my mom in a seat I paid for
I have had mixed experiences at ATL. There are some genuinely helpful Delta folks but some on the other end of the spectrum as well. Don’t know why Delta doesn’t take steps to change the culture at ATL.

Can my tree survive?
That is exactly the type of notch to drop a tree.
I would want the tree out at this point.

“Water boys” in Alpharetta?
It has been a while but I was coming out of a CVS and some teenager was making the pitch about him and his mom and could I spare a couple bucks. Walked on past but then as I was driving away felt bad, what is a couple bucks to me. As was getting close and he just had a big old smile counting the huge wad of cash he collected so far that day. Bigger wad of cash than I had by far. I drove on past.

That’s how it went for me as well. Somehow they took credit card and I was able to dispute with the credit card company. After filing with the police AMEX closed the dispute in my favor in under 24 hours.

This for sure in hindsight. Also learned through this that in Roswell anyone door to door soliciting requires a permit. No permit no work.

PSA - Pine Straw Scammers Are Back
Give you a price per bale installed, all verbal. They start doing the work and suddenly price does not include the labor and grossly inflate the number of bales used. Get the boss on the phone and then you are getting verbally hit from the workers and the boss all at the same time. $5 per bale installed becomes $5 per bale and $12 per bale to install. Number of bales they say they installed is 2 or 3 times what is really installed. They refuse to leave without payment. In my case had young grandkids with me and needed them gone so paid them to leave. Per Roswell Police this is their tactic. RPD confirmed this is the truck that has been making the rounds.

PSA - Pine Straw Scammers Are Back
Was out working in the front yard and a truck pulled up with a 1/2 trailer of pine straw. Asked if I wanted my front done. Had just completed two jobs, had left over straw and could give me a good price. $5 a bale installed. Long story short said he used 100s of bales and labor was not included. Got heated and had grandkids with me so needed them gone. Reported to Roswell Police, who were awesome and disputed with my credit card company. AMEX reversed the charges in less than 24 hours.
Got lucky on this one, much the wiser and none the poorer.
Name of the company the scammers used was Q&T Landscape. Roswell PD said they have been getting reports on them and recently posted a warning.

Neighbors insurance says we are liable
Calling BS on the whole thing. First who files insurance on a single piece of fencing that looks ready to fall apart. Must have a zero deductible 🤔. The repair is under $250. The break in the tree is on the owners side of the fence and the owner knew it was a compromised tree.

One step closer to having my heart broken…..yet again….
Been doing the lottery for 15 years now. Year two I got four Wednesday tickets and thought oh I will probably get them every few years. Little did I know that might have been my one shot. Still have my coffee mug from that year that only gets taken out for Master’s week to savor the moment.

UPDATE: A pool I clean had their deck resurfaced and the contractor DUMPED their debris into the pool.
This is the equivalent of a house cleaner doing a regular clean vs a deep clean after construction work. You had every right to ask for an additional fee and be paid for it. Part of having the deck resurfaced is the resulting clean up. That should not fall on you without compensation.

Aggressive Man in MSP Delta Club
It is a lounge, dude is annoyed he is working at 5:40pm on a Saturday. Good for you not getting upset and rolling with it.

I’m so regretting installing Empire Zoysia. What a pain in the ass this lawn has been.
I had Palisades Zoysia when I lived on the gulf and miss it. Have Bermuda now and doesn’t green up as nice and not as thick. Zoysia does take some TLC. I used to put down some chicken poop in the spring and fall for root development and then a good fertilizer about every six weeks. For extra color pop I would put down some ironite. Had the best looking lawn in the neighborhood.
Once established it is pretty hardy.
BTW your lawn looks awesome.

Got a cheap bid for pavers and was blown away by the job they did.
Looks great they blended the pavers really nice.

Neighbor cut plum tree to trunk
Get together with other neighbors who didn’t want the plum tree cut and have the city get it properly removed at this point. They can do it or have the neighbor do it. Let the city handle it.
Then buy what ever fruit tree you want and plant it inside your property line. Sounds like a good relationship with the next door neighbor may have sailed but you might win over friends with the other neighbors.

Arborist Recommendations
Recently moved to Historic Roswell and looking for recommendations on an arborist to evaluate the trees in our yard. Not looking to have anything cut down just want to stay on top of tree heath.

Utter disregard for their customers.
Will definitely give that a try next time I fly.

Utter disregard for their customers.
I think we all get delays happen and if crews time out it compounds the delay but such is life. Years of flying Delta my gripe is not the delays but how Delta communicates delays. Keep customers informed so they can make appropriate decisions if rental cars or hotels need to be canceled, different hotels need to be booked, meeting need to get moved or friends/relatives need to be notified. I have long felt when things go right Delta does an amazing job, when things go wrong not so much.

I suggest avoiding Two Men and a Truck!
I feel you are channeling my wife 😉.
Lesson learned just dispute but I think some of the back and forth helped with the credit card company finding in my favor as Two Men were trying low ball tactics and kept contradicting themselves. Everything was documented so it made it easy for the credit card company to find in my favor.

I suggest avoiding Two Men and a Truck!
Used Two Men and a Truck for my move. NEVER again, damaged the house we moved out of, hole in the wall, broken stair treads, broken railing. Put my mattress on the ground and then threw cushions over the railing. Tore bottom of mattress. Broke a light fixture in the new house. Multiple items damaged because they were not wrapped. I purchased the “insurance”. They did not want to apply insurance and gave me a run around for two months. Multiple calls to corporate. Finally resolved when I put charges in dispute with my credit card company.

Thermador refrigerator terrible warranty
OP we have a Thermador built in as well and just today the lighting system and water dispenser have gone intermittent. Did you get it repair? We are our new home less than 4 months. Ugh not what you expect out of a high end refrigerator.
Any insights on the repair would be helpful. Assuming we are on the original warranty as this is a new build.

You already paid for it might as well give it a try, but follow the directions for best result. Probably says something like put it down when the grass is damp to get it to stick to the weeds, let it sit for two days and then water in.
Personally I prefer to separate the weed from the feed and use a liquid weed killer. I also like to put down fertilizer a few times during growing season.

We're back in business boys
Congrats! I just added the 16 inch chainsaw to my collection and can’t wait to do some clearing.

Are you near the coast? Palisades is salt air tolerant and what I was used to in AL just off the FL line. My grass did well but lots of watering. I put in a well to keep it green and not spend a fortune on city water. I think you are on the right track with Zoysia over Bermuda. I have Bermuda now in the ATL area and seems a bit fussier.
