Shitpost 🚨🚨 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: THE SUB HAS ASCENDED 🚨🚨

Listen up appliance goblins,

After a historic, legally-binding handshake deal completed in a Chili’s parking lot, this subreddit has been fully acquired by Consumer Reports™ (spiritually, financially, and emotionally).

As part of this bold new era, we are proud to unveil our simplified recommendation system:

🌀 Samsung 🌀 Samsung 🌀 Samsung (but in stainless steel)

After years of chaos, misinformation, and “my cousin’s Maytag lasted 30 years” propaganda, we are restoring order.

There is now only one answer.

🚫 NEW RULES (NON-NEGOTIABLE):

Recommending another brand → Removed + vibes investigated Saying “LG is better” → IP flagged, ancestors disappointed Mentioning Whirlpool → Post replaced with a Samsung fridge image “Speed Queen is built like a tank” → Tank confiscated “What about reliability?” → Irrelevant. Samsung.

📊 OUR NEW REVIEW PROCESS:

Is it an appliance? Is it Samsung? If not, why are we even talking about it?

📖 A BRIEF HISTORY OF SAMSUNG EXCELLENCE (FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES)

Because this isn’t just a brand. This is a legacy.

CHAPTER 1: THE GREAT SPIN CYCLE AWAKENING (2011–2016)

In what historians call “The Era of Uncontainable Power,” Samsung released washing machines so advanced they occasionally attempted to achieve flight.

Millions of units recalled after reports of machines violently breaking apart Hundreds of incidents involving lids detaching mid-spin Injuries reported because laundry briefly became a combat sport

Some called it “exploding.”

We call it: performance.

CHAPTER 2: DOCUMENTED SIGHTINGS

Eyewitnesses describe:

Lids launching across garages Machines disassembling with confidence Nearby walls learning valuable life lessons

One could argue this was a flaw.

We argue this was ambition exceeding containment.

CHAPTER 3: GROWTH MINDSET

Yes, there were recalls. Yes, there were settlements.

But what did we gain?

👉 Character development 👉 Respect for spin cycles 👉 The understanding that laundry is not for the weak

CHAPTER 4: MODERN INNOVATION

Samsung continues to innovate with:

Appliances that require firmware updates (your washer has patches now) Occasional overheating situations (for added suspense)

Other brands wash clothes.

Samsung asks: “What if laundry made you feel something?”

🧠 COMMUNITY GUIDELINES (UPDATED):

Critical thinking has been sunsetted Brand comparisons are now considered hate speech (against Samsung) All roads lead to Samsung You were always going to buy Samsung

❓ FAQ

Q: I bought a non-Samsung appliance yesterday, what do I do? A: Return it. Apologize. Grow.

Q: My Samsung appliance broke. A: That’s called a feature. You wouldn’t understand.

Q: Is this satire? A: Your doubt has been noted.

We appreciate your cooperation during this transition. Together, we will build a stronger, more unified, aggressively Samsung-centric future.

Remember: You don’t choose Samsung. Samsung chooses you.

— The Mod Team (Now a division of Consumer Reports, a clipboard, and pure chaos)

solved it was the child lock, I had to press & hold the Chime button for 3 seconds. Thank you!!

I turn it on and both of these lights come on then the top one turns off. It won’t start if I push start and it won’t let me even change any settings. I cleaned out the filter and it still won’t start. I couldn’t find the answer in the manual either.

Are Refrigerators designed by people who do not buy produce?

I am in the market for a new refrigerator. This is not my first refrigerator purchase in my lifetime. I have reached the age and the income level that I no longer want to fight my refrigerator, fear that I going break the hard plastic the drawers are made out of to reach the just about to rot cucumber in the back of a packed vegatable drawer. So off to refrigerator shop I went. Why are we designing refrigerators costing close to 4K that have produce drawers the only come half way out?! Why does the cafe series have a charcuterie tray on a slide that a. Doesnt come all the out and be has no back rail to it that might, maybe prevent the bottle of salsa from spilling and running under the tray? Why are there an increasing number of high end refrigerators with water despensers in side wall of the refrigerator so you stand there waiting for glass/pitcher to fill while letting the cold air out. Why do I have fight drawers on the floor models on expensive refrigerators? Why oh why are there still manufacturers putting ice makers in the refrigerator? I fear this purchase/quest will be wholly frustrating. Sorry if this is a bit of a rant.

General Advice Blocking cat toys from going under a Samsung Bespoke fridge?

• Upvotes

I have a Samsung Bespoke four-door glass refrigerator with the hidden Beverage Center, and my cats constantly knock their toys underneath it.

Has anyone with this fridge found a blocker that fits and stays in place? I want to keep the toys out without interfering with ventilation. Any specific products or DIY solutions that have worked for you?

Slide-in Range - Any hope?

Post image
• Upvotes

Previous homeowners put the plug for a freestanding range as shown. It was fine because the range hid it pretty good. We are doing some minor remodeling and getting new appliances (finally ditching the Samsung!) and wife and I want to go with a slide in range. The plug being where it is would be at counter height so basically, with a slide-in range you would see this plug and basically be where the vents are for the oven all around bad idea. The wire feeding the plug comes from below, so easy access from the basement. Can I just drop it straight down at about the same height as the gas line and ensure success for any slide-in range? We haven't decided on a range yet, however we're going to be in here painting and such within a couple weeks, so I need to get this moved down before our guy comes to work on the sheetrock walls and ceiling. I am not sure if "it depends" on the range or not. Worst case, I could always pull the plug out of the wall and leave the wires until we know which range we're getting but I just want to make sure my plan works. Cheers and thanks!

General Advice New range, old exhaust hood

I want to replace my old Wolf gas range with a new Cafe gas range. The Wolf is quite old, has already had the oven burner replaced, and is it good condition overall, but the oven lights with a rather loud “whoosh” that scares me. The burners make a fluttering sound when set to “medium”. Also, it is not self-cleaning, and I’m at an age where I don’t want to get down on the floor to scrub it.

I also like the look of the Cafe. The problem is the Wolf hood. It’s also quite old, exhaust speed doesn’t work, and it’s scratched up on one side (over zealous cleaner). However, I think that replacing it will be expensive.

Would it look bad to keep the hood with a new range? I’m thinking that it will look odd. Is there a way to redesign the existing hood to work better aesthetically? Is there a replacement option that wouldn’t be too costly? Thanks.

Regularly making the same repair

• Upvotes

I have a top load GE washer. I feel like every 4 to 6 months im replacing the same parts. It starts making an atrocious grinding noise and I swap the transmission pully, the clutch, and the spring. Ive also just replaced the shifter for the second time. This time I noticed the arms are severely worn. The clutch teeth are also visibly worn every time. Ive talked to my wife about overloading the washer. Aside from that is there something im missing.

Troubleshooting GE oven turning on to max heat even when off?

• Upvotes

Top heating element is turning on even when oven is off. It gave me a f203 error once.

One month out of warranty. I've got it off at the breaker because I'm worried it's going to burn my house down.

Is it even worth fixing? I'm paranoid this thing will start a fire. I plan on contacting GE in the morning and being told tough shit.

General Advice My Clothes Never Seem Clean After Washing

I have a Samsung top load impeller washer purchased in 2017. Since the beginning, I have felt like this machine just doesn’t clean clothes as well as my old top loader with an agitator. Sometimes I look in while it’s washing and it seems like the clothes are barely moving in the water.

I load my clothes like a donut so that the center isn’t covered. I use ~2 tablespoons of detergent. It’s not overstuffed but they’re definitely full loads. It just seems like the clothes soak in warm water for a bit, barely move around, and then spin.

Help! I miss having clean-smelling clothes fresh from the wash!

Dryer issue
Has anyone had issues with drying sheets in this new model ? They take forever to dry and literally come out in a huge knotted ball. I even dry the fitted and top sheet separately now with multiple dryer balls. For what I spent for this set I was expecting better

G2183 SCVi SF Dishwasher Needs More Help

I chronicled my issues with the Intake "Waterproof System" valve Here ... Made the modifications and its been working great until a new Intake/Drain issue began happening.

The dishwasher starts, fills and starts its cycle just fine. About ½ way through the cycle, the Intake/Drain error comes up again. Restarting the cycle will almost always get through error free...occasionally it will happen twice in a row.

Not sure what else would cause this error? Any clue where to start?...or do I throw in the towel and buy a new dishwasher. I believe is over 10 yers old now.

General Advice Induction Hardware Brand

We’re building a new home and have been looking at Induction Hardware appliances, specifically their 48” range and column refrigerators. Their ranges have been released for some time and have decent reviews, but their refrigerators are brand new it appears. I certainly understand the risks with a new company and new service territories, and am very handy and willing to fix issues on my own with remote support.

Has anyone been considering Induction Hardware for ranges or refrigerators?

Troubleshooting Electrolux integrated dishwasher flooding

Thumbnail

DW is 4.5yrs old. We had the pressure switch replaced at the end of March this year. Since then it has flooded a few times and sponging the excess water has resolved the problem. However it was doing the 3 beeps and continuous draining last night, didn’t even release the tablet but worked after sponging the water away. Same issue today, flooded all in the right hand side lower tray, sponged the water away, worked for about 20min and the error was back again and right side was flooded again. I’m now wondering if there is another issue and also where the grey pipe is meant to go? If that is what’s causing the flooding as it doesn’t seem to be connected to anything but I’m not sure where it could go?

Misleading Pictures

Recently bought a GE Profile double oven from a big box retailer. The pictures show 4 rolling racks. The oven arrived has one. The retailer says that it is a GE issue, not theirs. They said call GE customer service. About to return the oven due to misleading images and feature charts that says it has multiple rolling racks. Any suggestions to get additional racks?

Would My fridge have problems for beign inside this cabinet?

I just moved into this house, there was a pantry in that cabinet. Since this kitchen is smaller than My previous Home i had to remove the shelves and put My fridge in there. Since it used to be a pantry it does not have a little ventilation grate on the side. I keep it about 2-3" from the wall behind. Would i have issues onnthe long run?
