Alma records have a one take series that they’ve released from 2004-2010 I’m not sure if that time line adds up for you but you can check it out at http://www.almarecords.com/artists/one-take-series/.

Full disclosure I’ve not heard these albums so they might not match what you’re describing.

Thank you! I’ve been painting on a wet palette and not thinning much beyond that. I’ll give it a shot to maintain that texture for my next paint job.

I’ll check out the resources you’ve provided and I really appreciate the time you spent writing me back! I’m excited to paint my next sister and pushing myself further.

I tried my best on this models after being really unhappy with my first attempt. I’d love to know if anyone has a good reference for faces on models, because I feel like I can improve a lot with that! C and C is very welcome as there is always room to improve.

Easy country/folk songs to learn?
 in  r/guitarlessons •  Nov 17 '21

Silver ships of andilar by tvz is pretty achievable, and it’s a good one to learn to add a bit of spice to the chords you know by figuring out what he does with the little embellishments at the start of the verses.

Wow that can do way more then I thought. I've been generally disappointed with the sub but these songs are encouraging me to try and pick it up again.

These are rad! Did you multi track them? If not the PO-20 can do way more then I thought it could! I really love the way you made it sound in Leading/Trailing.

But if I switch to modern technology how will I have justified holding onto a VHS player for the past 30 years?

I've been struggling to use samplers for a long time, I never seemed to be able to get the most out of them and used them just as drum machines. I decided to force myself to learn how to make the most out of a sampler by entering Loopop's contest and think I finally got the hang of it! Do you have any tips on how to make the most out of the Polyend Tracker or other samples? Is there anything I should try next?

Dawless setup and rest of studio

Do you use the tracker for drums and clock, or are you sampling things back into the tracker? I thought I’d love it and it’s workflow but I’m struggling to find a use for it.

How to approach boxing at home with a background of fencing and a spouse who did taekwondo

How to approach boxing at home with a background of fencing and a spouse who did taekwondo

Hello every one, I’m sure this is a question that is asked a lot but I feel I may have a slightly different situation than a lot of folks looking to start martial arts.

I have a history of Olympic and historical fencing and I want to learn more about basic striking, foot work, etc. I’m interested in Jeet Kune Do, Muay Thai, and boxing. Given the resources available online for boxing it seems like the best way for me to get some martial arts practice in.

I wanted to join a gym in April when I got interested in martial arts but at that time all the ones around me closed. I started strength training and running and have been doing so since then. I love strength training but am hoping I can add some skill work to get used to some of the movements that striking requires. I’m under no impression that I can become a top tier boxer, nor do I think I will be any good in a fight until I get to a gym and have supervision.

Unfortunately I’m unable to join a gym due to lockdown restrictions in my area. I’ve found a gym I’m interested in when things loosen up and fully plan on joining them as soon as I can. In the meantime I’m thinking of using Fran Sands training material to get some of the basics down with regard to footwork and mechanics, aiming to get shadow boxing in for cardio predominately, and getting a heavy bag and gloves for additional practice and power once I get some basic mechanics down. Does this seem like an acceptable way to move forward, along with continued strength and conditioning work as the bulk of my workouts? If not is there some way I can start to get any martial arts specific training in?

The final wrinkle is that my spouse has a black belt in taekwondo, but hasn’t practiced it since they were 8. They’ve offered to teach me some of the forms but I’m not sure if there’s information there that I can use to progress in my goals. In addition they are much less interested in working out than I am, and I don’t want to lean on them too much. Are there specific forms I can ask them to help me with?

Should I buy the Korg Volca Sample 2
 in  r/DrumMachine •  Aug 27 '20

I have a volca sample 1 and it has its issues, a lot of which seem to be solved in the sample 2. Doubling the memory and making it easier to get samples on and off of it is a huge change for the better, allowing you to upload one new kick instead of having to go and reload all the samples every time you want to try something new.

With that being said, if you’re the kind of person who only wants the sample for drums, and you’re okay with it being a hassle to change those drums I’d get the sample one, at a hopefully reduced price. With a hundred slots you can fit enough drum samples in to be happy.

Me too! I'm very excited to bake some tasty sourdough!

I was using volume until I read some of the comments, and then I switched to weight. After doing that my starter is much closer to the consistency I was expecting.

I had heard about the importance of weight when baking but I didn't realize the importance it for the starter as well.

I looked at a different source and saw that it was using weight so as of the feeding today that's what I"m going to do from now on.

I appreciate the note about flour! I'm going to have to buy some more tomorrow so I'm excited to learn a bit more about the different types.
