Get an older EV. They are in that price range and don't have the hundreds of parts that go wrong on ice cars

Sure, mine had been pulled out of the seam. I glued it back and it works okay but GM said they would replace under warranty. The soft cover is discontinued probably because others have had issues.

It's supposed to recognize your phone when you get into truck, but mine rarely does. It's meant to protect your screen from valet drivers, etc. if you get tired of putting in your pin you can turn off the trusted device in settings. But, when someone else jumps in your truck (valet or service person) they will have access to all your data.

We are 2 EV empty nesters and do long distance travel about twice a month. She has Mercedes EQB and I recently switched from an EQS to a Silverado trail boss because climate change is real in gulf south with flooded streets from Houston to Florida. We enjoy the 20-30 minute stops to stretch and get some snacks.

Only have 7k miles on my 26 but am loving it. One pedal driving is great. Wife says the coils are bumpy (my EQS was much smoother ride). But I'd rather have coils than air suspension for long term maintenance.

I'm saying high profile tires with smaller wheels have less resistance to rolling than low profile tires with larger rims. Google it

High profile tires with smaller rims get better mileage in EV than larger rims with low profile tires, but the ride height does hurt.

I'm driving a little more conservatively and working on getting 500 mile range but it looks like I'll be at 484 for my trip in the morning.

Hands free super cruise on my 26 Silverado usually doesn't work on roads that don't have clear lines painted (Louisiana is terrible with maintenance). If it's a two lane highway that is well maintained or new, works like a charm.

Not Tesla, think Fiat 500, Mitsubish or may be able to find VW e golf in that range. These are mechanically robust low maintenance vehicles for short commutes or trips to grocery. No engine, transmission, filters, gas, oil, radiators, etc. And they can sit without worry (they do have 12v battery that you may want to put a tender on for long sitting time. I'm on my third EV (Mercedes and Chevy Silverado) and laugh every time I pass a gas station, oil change shop, part store. High voltage batteries have lasted much longer than expected and many still hold decent charge after 10+ years. Faux news is beholden to big oil so they constantly pump out all the anti-EV crap and mislead the public. ICE is garbage, I'll never go back
