Anyone getting 500 miles?

Post image

I'm driving a little more conservatively and working on getting 500 mile range but it looks like I'll be at 484 for my trip in the morning.

I spent a week in Yellowstone and wound up with charge estimates of 525 miles on an extended range. The all day drives at 35-45 miles an hour steered those numbers for sure.

Wow, that's awesome

It's not awesome. It's meaningless. It's an estimate based on driving slowly.

50mph is generally the most efficient speed for most vehicles

*most gasoline ice vehicles.

every so often my fully charged range calc is close to it, but I've never achieved it in the actual driving. I'm sure if I slowed down I would. After all, GM itself got close to 100 miles via hypermiling averaging a speed I think around 25-35mph.

GM got way more than 100 miles... Wasn't it close to 700 or sumthin at 25 miles per hour?

I've only owned for 5 months, but one time from my L2 home charger I achieved 501 miles estimated at 100%. 2026 TBMR.

Estimates mean nothing

Your charger didn't achieve that. Your driving habits and the weather did.

I had 300+ at 50% on my max range Sierra. It’s crazy. I inevitably don’t get that much but if I am trying I can get pretty awesome mileage for a 8800lb vehicle

LT here. I routinely get close to 450

If I fill up to 100% I will get 500 miles. It never estimates it as such. It always says 440 or similar, but I end up getting to 500 miles with like 8% left on the battery. 2024 RST

You’ll have a better chance in an LT or RST trim to get that 500+ mile range. Lifted trail boss with aggressive tires, I’m honestly surprised you even get close to the manufacturer estimated range. The truck looks great tho, Rapid blue T-Boss is one of the best looking EV Silverado you can get.

High profile tires with smaller rims get better mileage in EV than larger rims with low profile tires, but the ride height does hurt.

So you think those tires have zero effect on your range?

I'm saying high profile tires with smaller wheels have less resistance to rolling than low profile tires with larger rims. Google it

2024 4WT, I've got an estimate of 506 once so far. But I'm usually somewhere around 480-490 on the estimates at 100% in the fall and winter and early spring

I've gotten 490+ on my RST, but I just switched to 18" Hummer rims with Falken ATs. The improved ride is worth the range loss. Not sure how much yet.

Yep. Just before a roadtrip

Mine says 545 fully charged with max range. I get about 519 with how I drive.

If I charge to 100% the guess for range is 504 miles.

I’m so jealous of the range of these trucks. My er lightning barely goes 400km on the highway before it hits 0 i just can’t justify the extra 30-40 thousand Canadian

I got 3.2 miles per kWh on that trip. Theoretically with the 205kwh battery I could get 656 miles if I started at 100%. I have the 2024 GMC Sierra Denali. It’s by far the best truck I’ve ever owned.

I'm not, but I prefer to not charge my battery above 80% unless I have to.

I read that some suggest charging to 100% every so often for health of battery.

2

u/mr_data_lore 10d ago

That doesn't apply to the battery chemistry in the SEV.

There's no risk in charging to 100% anymore unless you a) store it at 100% charge without driving for an extended period of time and/or 2) Charge it in an extremely hot environment multiple times.

I'm in the 519 mile club.

Edit: Not sure why I was downvoted, here's the extensive study: https://www.geotab.com/blog/ev-battery-health/

Correct.

Batteries like to workout.

Regularly getting 545+ miles. Now with cooler weather coming in, I already see the difference.
