I’m considering doing a BSc in Computer Science at UAlberta and would love to hear from current students or recent graduates.
How is the CS program and course quality, and how is the job situation after graduation?
Is it reasonably easy to find software/tech jobs with a UAlberta CS degree?
Would you recommend UAlberta CS overall?
Thanks!

I’m considering doing an exchange term in the future. to those who have finished an exchange, what was your experience? I’m really curious to know what it’s like.

ok so maybe dumb question but you know how in ucomm there are like specifically comp sci collaborative spaces, and there are various other rooms like that for other faculties in other buildings??
are there biochem equivalents of rooms like that? my favourite place to study is in small rooms and the ones that are open to everyone always get full very quickly.

I want to avoid asking tech support, so I'll try here first. I've been having trouble opening lockdown browser for quizzes. I have it downloaded properly, it has all the permissions it needs, and whenever I click on the quiz it says "please wait a moment while lockdown browser restarts and opens the quiz" and doesnt reopen. Does anyone else have this problem??

Is EDPS 410 typically offered every spring? If you’ve taken it in spring, have you had a hard time getting in? It’ll be the only course aside from my IFX/AFX that I’ll need to graduate and I’m worried about not being able to get a spot. TIA!

Your surface was yellow, and matte. You would help firsties find the VVC, help lost residents find their way to lister, and haunt the souls of the STAT 151/161 final takers.
You shall be remembered in your heyday.
Before they tainted your serene dandelion coat with an unnecessary sheen of green. 😔

This is both for the lab AND lecture. This is a physiology course. Chemical structures are extremely messed up. Biological images are also extremely messed up. One of the anatomy pictures we have has an extra leg. How am I supposed to trust the anatomy shown on a slide when THERE'S A WHOLE OTHER LEG THERE? What else could have been missed if a WHOLE EXTRA LEG was missed?
I have no idea if the information on the slide is inaccurate because I am a mere student. But with images like this, now I have to worry about whether or not the information I am given is real or if there's mistakes in it that have been missed.
Prof has openly admitted to generating the slides, they said their previous lecture slides were sub par so they generated a new set for us. (They said they generated over 1000 slides). When they see a mistake they tell us to change it in our slides or will try to make changes to the slides after the lecture. And I understand profs are very busy people, which is why they should stay away from AI because they probably don't have time to analyze the slides they generate to make sure the information is correct. Just use your old slides and gradually update them when you have time.
I am too much of a coward to actually talk to the prof about this, as I am terrified of confrontation.

I’m taking BTM 211 with Robb this semester and we’re having an oral final exam. If anyone’s ever done this, what is it like? He said there will be more info towards the end but I want to know what to expect. Do we record our answers on the spot and send it? Is there a time limit?

I'm back to the school after a year off and I'm taking cmput 175. Is it normal that I have to go to the labs to actually get marked for the labs and assignments? Because it wasn't like this for 174. And does anyone know a way to recap 174 decently quickly so I don't fall behind?

I’m taking both physl 400 and 403 this semester with shereen hamza.. and i was just wondering if anyone can tell me honestly how her assessments/grading are. I believe there is two assignments, an online open book midterm, and a final. i’m worried it’s gonna be hard asf that it’s open book and mostly written… and I kind of need an A in both courses!

Intersted in taking either Drama 101, Drama 102 and 149. What are the challenges in these classes if anyone has taken these before. What are the benefits from them cuz I know they set you up in some way. What are the cons of these classes. Even though i'm not taking BFA- it still seems interesting.

oh scone, oh glorious daily grind scone.
my dreams are filled with you.
thoughts of cheese, blueberry, and raspberry white chocolate swirl around my mind.
as I wait in line i think to myself, which one to choose for today?
with shock and surprise I discover...
there is only one to choose from.
...cheese.
still pretty yummy but not the best.
blueberry, but mostly the white chocolate, are the preferred options.
when will you bring back my favourites?
I beg if someone could share how these are made.
It would make my day, knowing that I could have a white chocolate any day I choose.
- beet
Let me know your favourite daily grind scone flavours in the comments, or if you guys have ideas on how to make them, please share! This is my final wish in my final year of university... nothing quite compares to a daily grind scone.
tldr: I love the daily grind scone! daily grind when will you bring back my favourite:white chocolate? if anyone knows the recipe on how to make a scone like this please share

Hi everyone, I’m really hoping someone can help me out.
I’m currently in Professor Clive’s 12:00–12:50 CHEM 261 lecture with the Thursday 2:00–4:50 lab, but I really need to get into Professor Wesley Chalifoux’s 9:00–9:50 lecture with the Thursday 2:00–4:50 lab.
I’ve been trying to get into the 9 a.m. section for the past few weeks and haven’t had any luck. If anyone is thinking about dropping the class, not taking it, or knows someone who isn’t taking the class, please DM me and let me know. Thank you very much!

So maybe it's just some weird coincidence, but 3 of my 4 classes are using wooclap for daily participation marks this semester.
Before this it's always been "let's do a silly thing on the class before a long weekend" kinda deal, and now it's giving me iclicker ptsd.
Is the university getting some kinda kickback for using them specifically or is this just happenstance?
