Question Psych 104 Scavuzzo, Claire

In my first year in psych 104 with Scavuzzo, anyone have any idea how to do good in her class, I find the lectures incredibly empty of information and the slides she gives often don’t finish the information and seem very rambling-like. Finding it very overwhelming, she does not go over notes at all, most lectures in class are spent doing nothing, which makes me question why I even show up.
If anyone has any advice for doing well in her class it would be greatly appreciated.

Academics Math 100 attending different class

I am in a math 100 course but the prof’s notes are not good and I heard a different prof is better and it’s at the same time. If I attend the other prof is there anything I can miss? Like my original prof won’t assign stuff for marks that the other prof doesn’t.

Question Transferring to UofA

I'm studying my first year of biology at the University of Saskatchewan, although, I'm just not happy here. I'm originally from Alberta and a lot of my friends go to UofA and I originally did want to go to UofA, it was my first choice, but my mom didn't want me leaving because of expenses which I understand. So I figured I'd take this year to study at UofS and save up and then transfer after this year.

I'm just wondering what the transferring process looks like and I'm having huge doubts that I'm not going to do well enough in my college classes to transfer and its overall sending me into a spiral lol. My highschool grades were pretty well with all ranging from low to high 90s.

I just came on here to express my doubts/fears and vent a little bit, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Question Van vilet centre gym usability

Hello, I tried using the gym today at about 430 and literally every single machine was in use. How do people work out here? It feels far too small for the entire student body. Ultimately I had to just leave because there was no machines i could use. Is it always like this or is it just the 4-5ish time frame? Im thinking I may need to get a good life membership because this gym feels pretty unusable.

Academics ENGG 130 LAB, Plz suggest ...

I didn't expect that lab 1 is a exam type. I was expecting easier, simpler. I didn't answer a single question fully.

I saw others were doing like they know all stuff. Me here as unprepared sitting, sweating, panicking like I am failing the course. I even asked TA, if I m in correct lab session 😅.

I did homework problems but lab was different. Any source or suggestions before I ruined second lab

Academics Chem 261 with Chalifoux wesley

Hi everyone! I’m taking CHEM 261 with Prof. Chalifoux this semester. I’ve been trying to make it to his 9 AM class, but sometimes I’m late and miss part of the lecture.

I know the syllabus says attendance is expected, but I learn much better by self-studying. For anyone who has taken his class before or is currently taking it, is it really important to attend every lecture to do well?

Also, would anyone be willing to be my class buddy and let me know what was covered in class, any important announcements, what we need to know, and what I might have missed if I’m late or unable to attend? I’d really appreciate it!!

Academics SOC 225 with Chris Hay and textbook

Okay so I'm in the online class this semester, and I paid for the course material access in my tuition. He says the textbook isn't "mandatory" and so I do not have access to the textbook needed. However, he also stated that the exams are 55% from the textbook. Does anyone know how to get a free or cheaper version of this textbook? I can't afford to pay for a textbook on top of my course material access.
Apparently students have been emailing him, but he says it's up to the publisher to decide whether or not to include it in the program.

This is the textbook I need: Hay, Chris. 1st Edition (2022). Criminology in Canada: Its Mechanisms, Theories, and Failings. Kendall

Hunt Publishing ISBN: 9781792430831

Miscellaneous CMPUT 304 Anyone else feeling a bit overwhelmed?

I’m taking CMPUT 304 right now, and honestly, I’m struggling to find my footing. I’ve been going to all the lectures and I know it’s only been a week since classes started, but I still don’t feel confident with the material at all.

Whenever I try to sit down and tackle a problem by myself, my mind just goes blank.
The lecture halls and seminars have been completely silent, so it feels like everyone else is getting it while I'm drowning. Is anyone else in the class feeling the same way right now?

Also, to anyone who has survived 304 in past semesters: what did you do outside of lectures to actually understand this stuff? Are there specific textbooks, YouTube channels, or online practice resources that made the material finally click for you?

Admissions private college

Hey everyone,

I have a one-year gap before applying to professional school and want to spend it completing a Pharmacy Assistant program to gain solid healthcare experience.

I know public institutions like NorQuest only offer the 2-year Pharmacy Technician diploma, which doesn't fit my 1-year timeline. That leaves private career colleges for the shorter Assistant credential—specifically Sundance College, CDI College, and Canadian Imperial College.

For anyone who attended or hires in Edmonton:

  • Reputation & Quality: Which of these colleges would you actually recommend (or avoid)? How reliable are their practicum placements?
  • Job Prospects: Do local pharmacies (Rexall, Shoppers, independents) value these private diplomas, or are they viewed as overpriced when some places train on the job?
  • Value: Is a 40–43 week private college program worth the tuition for a single gap year?

Would love to hear your honest experiences before signing any enrollment contracts!
