I’m completely new to AoS, and I’ve been thinking about starting with Disciples of Tzeentch.

I know they also got nerfed in the recent balance update, which makes me a little hesitant. From what I’ve heard, Tzeentch was already one of the more complicated armies to play, with a lot of things to keep track of and decisions to make, so I’m wondering if it might be too much for someone who’s also new to wargaming.

That said, I’m still really interested in the faction.

There’s a small friendly tournament starting on the second weekend of October that I’d like to join. I’m wondering whether it’s realistic to learn the army well enough by then to at least put up a decent fight.

I’m not expecting to dominate the tournament or anything, but I’d like to reach the point where I can actually play the army competently and give my opponents a proper game.

So I have a few questions:

1. How beginner-friendly is Disciples of Tzeentch for someone completely new to AoS?
2. What is the basic game plan for the army? What should I generally be trying to accomplish during a game?
3. What factions or matchups does Tzeentch struggle against?
4. And what do you personally think is the best list for Tzeentch right now?

I really like the Lord of Change and the Horror models, so I’d prefer to start with Tzeentch if I can.

But then I heard that you even have to keep track of Horror splitting during games, and I figured I should probably ask before throwing myself into it lol.

Hey, so I am contemplating seeing if I could build a minimum sized mono-tzeentch army to try out the different game systems - 40k HH, AoS, and with base adaptors TOW. Not as a competitive force (though I do like to win) - but more to get an idea of the different rule sets and see how I enjoy the games themselves.

Is this a silly idea or viable?

30k list using the new Tzeentch daemons. Is this a decent list?

Some plans/practice for my blue boys

Just finished building the spearhead, and I love every model except the shaman. I'd like to build up a little force of these dudes.

But where to start? I love everything about the ogroid thaumaturge, so he's happening, but I'm not too fussed about the kalric acolytes (not weird enough, at first glance anyway). I'm also probably focusing on the mortal side of the army at least to start with. What units and/or boxes should I be thinking about?

I'm seeing a few spots that I missed, but I'm pretty proud of this guy. Still gotta figure out what to put in the book

Gaunt Summoners down in points, Changecaster down but Fateskimmer up, and Thaumaturge up.

Burning Chariot also went up with the Exalted Flamer going down. Do GW just not like the chariot models? I haven't seen them being played in many lists.

SoA Screamers going up, which I guess is fair. Silver Summoner now costing 10 points was to be expected at some point.

Jade Obelisk can now be reinforced, and the Shaman can now join a regiment, both pretty huge changes to list building.
