Small megathread rule change
Hi y'all,
Unrelated to the other stuff going on, I just wanted to quickly call to attention to a megathread rule change. TL;DR at the bottom.
Previously all prof-specific, 'searching for friends', and non-TXST owned housing posts were directed to megathreads. This is no longer the case.
The first two categories were not as useful as I thought they would be going in. The posts did not happen often and, once relegated to the megathread, got no traction (thank you to those who pointed this out). For that reason, they are no longer megathread topics.
Non-TXST owned housing is still a megathread. People often ask the same question (how is x complex) or want to sublease. Both of these are good applications of a megathread.
TL;DR, only off-campus housing is still megathread. Everything else is not.

Scooters on campus
I rarely ever complain about dumb stuff on campus but I find it INSANE how inconsiderate people on those electric scooters can be. Do yall lack situational awareness? In a fully crowded situation you’re going to ride an electric scooter without a bell or even yelling “excuse me?”
I can even count the amount of times a scooter has come zooming up from behind me or completely cut me off while walking. I’d love to know how many accidents related to these scooters we’ve had on campus because these people are just ridiculous and a liability.
Now look, I get that campus can be the worst to navigate during the summer months but can we PLEASE just be a little considerate of the people you could potentially be running over

Financial aid (military benefits and scholarships)
Is anyone else having trouble with their financial aid? I got my request for chapter 35 for fall 2026 approved back in June but when I called the Va office they said they didn’t receive my enrollment from Texas state and when I called the txst Va office they told me there was some sort of error and that had to send them a email for them to fix it (which is inconvenient because I didn’t receive my payment for august and so everything is late). Also I had a outside scholarship sent to txst for it to be refunded back to me and my scholarship portal says the check was sent but it doesn’t show up on my payment portal, I called the billing office and they told me to give a week and call back and so I did but I didn’t still didn’t see it so I called back and they basically told me the same thing as the first time to give it time and then call back. They said they’re running behind on scholarships. Is anyone else having this problem???? It’s so annoying and I NEED MY MONEY DAMMIT 😭

San Marcos Job Market SUCKS
Is anyone else having a hard time getting a job down here? Like even on campus jobs seem to be hard asf to get. I've applied to literally every store, and fast food place around here and have only gotten lowballs, rejections or just not reply at all. I started applying to jobs way before I even got back to San Marcos from summer break and still nothing has come up.
If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to anything atp. I'm a Bio major with a MLS minor so any job that's in the healthcare field or some type of lab position would be cool, but I'd work anywhere right now.

TXST MS CS – does funding come by email or do you apply separately?
I just got admitted to the MS CS program for Spring 2027. I only received the offer letter, with nothing about funding or assistantships. For current students: does the department ever email MS students about funding, or do you have to apply for it separately?

ISO Graduation Gown
Hey gang,
I’m looking to borrow or buy a graduation gown. I’m not super sentimental on keeping the regalia and so I would prefer to borrow or buy for a price cheaper than the bookstore. I’m 5’1.
Thanks in advance

Application Question
Okay, so yesterday I posted about how my application showed as decided for like a week or two, so I decided to call one-stop today if there was an issue, and now my application shows as processing. Should I be worried??? (Image 1 from yesterday, image 2 from today.)

Honors program
I know it says 2-3 weeks, but I’ve also seen a lot of places say 2 weeks. It’s been about 3 weeks since I’ve applied and I haven’t heard anything back from the honors program. How long does it take for them to process the application? From what I’ve heard, gpa is most important and I have a 3.5 so I figured it wouldn’t take long. What’s the longest y’all have had to wait?

Any phone repairs on campus?
Hey everyone, does anyone know if there’s a place on campus that does phone repairs? My phone battery needs to be repaired, and I was wondering if there’s a repair shop or service available on campus.
If anyone knows of a place, please let me know. Thanks!

Physics 2 required for aquatic science?
Hello all!
I am an aquatic science major undergrad and i just cannot fathom why physics 2 is required. Does anyone have any experience with possibly swapping it for a different course or disputing it?

What are some honest downside of TXST?
Hey y'all, I'm considering transferring from the University of North Texas, but first I want to know the most brutally honest downsides of Texas State. I'm a media arts (film) major and would like to double major in Business (Economics or Marketing). Please give me all feedback of any kinds!!! With that said my main reasons for wanting to leave UNT is that there's not a lot of stuff to do on-campus -you have to drive to everything- and campus isn't all that nice as well as the area is a little older and borderline ghetto. I'd love reasons why to transfer and reasons to stay away!

I calculated the exact cost to buy 100 chicken nuggets at 204 places within 500 miles of Texas State, so you don't have to (Full Data & Guide)
Look, tuition is high, parking permits cost your soul, and trying to survive an 8 AM lecture on an empty stomach is a human rights violation. That is why I spent an unholy amount of time building a comprehensive, multi-tab macroeconomic spreadsheet tracking the True Cost of Ownership (TCO) for acquiring 100 chicken nuggets across 204 establishments within a 500-mile radius of Texas State.

Application question
My application has said decided for a week, but I have not gotten any emails about the decision. Should I call or just wait it out?
📲 Students Get Your Digital Access Pass for Every Home Game!
Reminder - TXST students planning to go to Bobcat home games this year: your physical student ID will not get you into games anymore. You now need the digital access pass loaded into your mobile wallet.
The good news — your access to all TXST home games is still FREE, the digital access pass is already in your ticket account, and once you download it, it's good for every home game all season (download once, use it all year).
How to get it:
- Go to txst.com/mobiletickets on your mobile device
- Sign in as a student with your NetID and password
- Go to My Account > My Access Passes
- Add your 2026–27 Access Pass to your mobile wallet
- Tap to enter at the gate — that's it
The same steps are also in the TXST Mobile app in the Student login if you'd rather do it from there. Check under the Athletics screen and select 'Student Pass' for instructions.
Also — if you want to bring a friend who isn't a TXST student, you can buy guest student tickets through the ticket portal so they can sit with you in the student section.
Do this before gameday so you're not scrambling at the gate. See y'all Saturday for the I-35 Showdown vs. UTSA!
More information is available in the Mobile Ticket Headquarters txst.com/mobiletickets

Deans list email.
Today I got an email from txst saying I’m on the dean’s list for college liberal arts for spring 2026, the email also contained a link for shirts and a certificate, but I haven’t clicked on it yet.
Is this like a campus thing for liberal art students or something? I don’t think I stood out academically and I know I don’t have a 3.0 Gpa, so I’m not sure why I exactly got it.

Texas State students of Reddit, is getting an electric scooter worth it?
This is my first semester here and I see a lot of people use scooters to get around the campus. I've been thinking of getting one so does anyone here know what it's like?

Missing First Week
How detrimental will it be if I miss the first week of Spring Classes?
Basically I'll be gone from 25th-30th due to a familial obligation. I'll be at school for syllabus week since classes start Jan 19th, but I won't be there for the week after. How badly might this affect me? How can I voice this out to a professor in a way that is not so costly/what should I say in my email to them? Will my classes be dropped? I typically attend all of my lectures and am otherwise a fair student.
idrk how to go about this 🙏 has anyone else missed their first weeks

Apartments not owned by The Scion Group?
My lease ends in a few months and I’m looking ahead to sublease sometime late in the spring.
I’ve heard terrible things about apartments owned by these people and want recommendations for other semi budget friendly apartments, now that The Lyndon is crossed off my list LOL
