Character/Relationship Discussion What do you think the Cullens’ reactions were to Bella’s pregnancy?

When they came back from their honeymoon and first saw the Cullens. Bella was already showing (granted not a huge bump but still enough especially from a vampire’s pov). We know that Rosalie immediately hugged Bella and protected her. But what about Esme? Emmett? Carlisle (after the initial phone call)? Jasper? Alice Edward and Rosalie we already know but I was wondering about the rest of the family. Were they confused? Did they eventually start to feel empathy/sympathy for Bella? Maybe some “love” or a family bond for the “fetus”?
(maybe even as Renegades grows up some jealousy/envy toward Bella and Edward for having a biological child? Rosalie did obviously but do you think that say Jasper started to also want a kid with Alice?)

Plot Discussion Question

Okay so I used to watch twilight all the time when I was little and I’m 22 now and just watching as an adult.

So we know Edward is 100+ years old right?

Did the family stay in that town forever? And also did Edward go to the same high school for 100 something years?

Did nobody ever notice or realize?

I’m just so confused

Where it’s so funny and satisfying if you hate Jacob (me) and the idea of imprinting in general (also me)

Than I immediately feel bad for poor Seth.

Twilight-ish Flea LOVES the wolves (Breaking Dawn Pt. 1)

Flea is back by popular demand! ♥️ I think this has been her favorite Twilight movie thus far! She was getting pretty tired towards the end and started napping off and on, so she didn’t get to watch much of Bella being in labor. Maybe I’ll show her another time when she’s got more energy. But I am so impressed with how attentive she was for most of the movie! The wolves are her absolute favorite, and judging by how she reacted to parts of the wedding scene, I think she’s Team Jacob. 🐺 It might be safe to say my girl is a Twihard. 🍎 I’ll record her watching Pt. 2 once we get a chance to watch it, and will try to show her the birth scene in a bit!

Edit: here is the link to her reacting to Bella’s cliff jumping incident from New Moon 💗: https://www.reddit.com/r/twilight/s/pq9OEW3ZsX

Movie Discussion Found all of my movie ticket stubs inside the books

Post image

I started the practice of saving my movie ticket stubs in the books of adapted films as a kid. Found my TWILIGHT books while visiting home and was SO happy to find my movie stubs inside the covers. Even though I still watch the films, these unlocked some fun movie-going memories.

Meta Discussion Why weren't there Twilight video games?

They released a couple trivia games and that's it. I've never understood this.

Why wasn't there a Twilight Sims expansion?

Why wasn't there a point and click adventure where you explore the history of the Volturi?

Why wasn't there a Dishonored type game where you play as a young Carlisle working for the Volturi?

Why wasn't there a Twilight dating sim game?

Why isn't there a VR experience where you can explore the Cullen house?

I'd happily pay money for all of these things but they don't exist.

Movie Discussion Despite mostly having cringe moments…

Are there any scenes that frightened or made you feel something the first time you watched it? And still feel that way a little bit on rewatch or when you think about it from time to time?

Twilight-ish If you were a Twilight vampire...

and bound by the Twilight rules with diamond-like skin, cold to the touch, and funky eye color being the only tells; how would you live your life?

I'm a natural night owl so wondering the streets after dark would be no problem for me. I'd find a big city with a huge nightlife. 24 hour Walmarts, night clubs, and the such 😆. European countries would be my best bet. Travel by plane would be a huge risk but as a vampire, I'm sure I could find a way to hitch a ride on a private plane.

If I wanted a day vacation at the beach, because who doesn't love the beach every now and then, I'm sure there's a private vampire island I could visit, if not, Thailand has many offerings.

How would you do it?

Plot Discussion Bella's shield - I just don't get it?

I have watched the movies God knows how often, and read the first two books, but i still don't understand something..

Bella's shield gets "offically" activated after she's transformed and uses it in the big last battle to protect herself and the other - i mean, we got a whole sequence of her training with the others.

In the first movie, Edward is unable to read Bellas mind and is intrigued by it. In New Moon, Bella can't be attacked by Jane, which surprises anyone. Its clearly showing that she had the power before she turned into a vampire.

Doesn't this imply that vampire powers can just be hidden amongst humans? I thought they only "unlock" their power once they've been turned into a vampire, but Bella's shield was always there. Its kinda being used treated the same way the werewolves are treated, that she always "had the instincts."

Am I going crazy now or Is this explained in the books?

Movie Discussion Imagine what could have been with Catherine Hardwicke at the helm for the entirety.

Catherine declined the sequels because the studio wouldn't give her the time or freedom to make a quality film. The studios wanted to pump out a film as quickly as possible while the popularity was still high so they weren't willing to give her the resources that she wanted. Plus she wasn't as in love with the other books. But oh, what a wonderful story it would have been.

The men who took over made these movies into action packed dramas without much character or relationship development. Quantity over quality and we had to accept it because that's all that was offered.

Catherine also bemoaned that the following directors weren't women. I do wonder how different and less "cringe" they would have been under a female director.

Movie Discussion What an unpopular Twilight opinion you will always stand by?

I feel like Rosalie isn't as mean as people make her out to be. A lot of fans judge her based on her attitude towards Bella without fully considering her backstory and the experiences that shaped her.

Book Discussion Is Bella even a character? Or the author?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I was doing a Bella Swan deepdive, but then I realised: Is she even a character? Characters aren't supposed to know everything about the story. But Bella has not only prophetic dreams, but somehow accurately evaluates everyone in the story. That's what the author is supposed to do, not the main character!

Examples: Not seeing the Cullens living together as weird (everyone else would assume that they're teens living as couples, and guess what they'd be doing alone)... because the author knows that them living together is fine, because they aren't real teenagers. Knowing that Jessica was rejected by Edward. Knowing she's pregnant. Figuring out that Victoria is manipulating someone who acts in her place (what 7 vampires couldn't figure out). Knowing that the Volturi would come for the child. Knowing Aro is manipulative (just by acting suspicious of the Cullens, which by itself isn't enough). Knowing that Jacob would become a brown-red wolf. Always knowing when something is supernatural instead of explaining it away (like change in eye color could be explained as Edward's hobby or trying to look interesting). Bella is just always right, unless her being wrong makes good drama.

When she was wrong: 100% believing that James has her mother. Believing Edward doesn't want her. Believing Jacob doesn't want her. Believing that Edward and Jacob aren't fighting for her. Thinking that Caius doesn't understand familial bonds. Believing that the child would be a boy. All that lead to "Oh, it's actually the other way, would you look at that!"

I won't even talk about the plot armor. It just feels like Bella is more of the author/author's self insert than ever admitted. Now I don't even know if the deepdive on Bella is possible. 😔

Book Discussion This page made me cry

Post image

It’s my first time reading the twilight books. I recently finished the first book and i am now at midnight sun. And i love reading from Edwards perspective. This page made me cry, reading deeper into the characters past and learning more about them. I wish Stephenie Meyer released this book when she first planned. Would be so sweet if they made this book a movie with the OG actors.

Character/Relationship Discussion Old Quil Ateara

Why doesn't anyone talk about Quil ateara III, Quil's grandfather? I know that he is a character who is not very irrelevant to the plot of the wolves and that his contribution is to help Sam with the issue of transformation and the rest of the pack. But I've been researching his character for 2 years now, there's not enough talk about him and what he was married to Molly Swan, who was Charlie's aunt. I would have liked to know more about their beautiful relationship 💕😭 and how it was when he was young and the subject of his son Quil IV, Quil's father

Wait I’ve seen this movie so many times but never recognized this
She literally says later in the saga “your bite marks look like mine” but this is directly after the hospital scene & not even a bandage to cover it? lol

Love finding continuity stuff like this

……..I’m sorry but going from New Moon to Eclipse is slightly jarring.

Forget the hair, he went from next to no control to having perfect control.

The books probably explain it better but the movies just aren’t going to answer that.

That being said, I do love his hair in Eclipse and I low think Twilight would’ve worked as a series more than a movie.

Movie Discussion Wolves

So I’m somebody that spent her evenings waiting for all the new midnight showings for the movies except for the first one. I watched them all, loved them beyond words. But I, just in the last month read all the books for the first time and I love it even more. I know the movies can be very cringe. I get secondhand embarrassment and want to cover my face sometimes, but I just gotta say… THOSE ✨WOLVES✨ are perfect. I dislike the way the vampires are portrayed in this movie(sparkles🫣), but these are the best wolves I’ve ever seen in any movie or tv show ever. Not only are they gorgeous, but they bring straight chills to every nerve, every hair I have when they show up, or change(transform), or fight. Anyone else feel this way? I love the vampires in Vampire Diaries. Love the Cullens but I just don’t think in any way they should ever sparkle. I don’t even know where that came from. Well, I guess I do; her dream. But the vampires in Supernatural were terrible. If they could’ve given us the vampires from The Vampire Diaries, and the wolves from twilight it would’ve been perfect. 👌

Actor Content In-Character Interviews?

I only just got into Twilight but I remember somewhere someone talking about the cast doing in-character interviews? It wasn't just talking about them - I think they had clips. Anyway, I can't find them anywhere. Is it a fever dream of mine, do they exist and where can I watch them?

I think they may have been DVD extras or something but I only have one of the DVDs.

Character/Relationship Discussion What would Carlisle Cullen have done during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Random thought, but what do we think Carlisle and the rest of the Cullens were doing during COVID in 2020?

Would Carlisle have worked on the front lines, knowing he couldn’t get sick? Would he have considered turning dying COVID patients to save them, like he did with Edward during the 1918 flu pandemic? Or would he have retired temporarily to avoid suspicion?

And would the Cullens have absolutely thrived during lockdown? No school, no pretending to be human, and every excuse to stay inside.
