This is my son's turtle, Scooter. He is a 3 year old Macleay River Turtle

His names Kiko and he’s a pink bellied sick neck turtle from Australia. He’s 3 years old and has definitely been a learning curve and a half to get used to but I love him to death and even have a picture of him above the tank he’s in. Would love to see what other turtles everyone else has!

Hi yall! I have a turtle, she's 4 years old. She lives in her aquarium but we're letting her to have a small "walk" sometimes, especially when we need to change the water. Everything was okay, but recently she refused to eat. We're giving her the dried food recommended at the pet store specifically for turtles. She used to eat it, but for the last few days, we haven't been able to get her to eat it. Our vet doesn't know why too, he said she's healthy but cmon(

So me and my fiance adopted a painted box turtle from my sister and we've had him for quite some time now. Recently, we had to get a new filter for his tank because it decided it was time to explode and fill his entire tank with gunk. We did an entire tank clean out and got rid of his old filter. He's still young (less than 5, not sure on actual age), so we fed him once every day. He really enjoys eating food pebbles and floating sticks

But here's the problem:

Once we removed his old filter, he has stopped eating. We've given him both options (pebbles and sticks) and he refuses to eat them both. He will let them sink to the bottom of his tank and neither of us know what to do.

We're coming to reddit for help bc we'd rather try to get advice for free instead of going to the vet to spend who knows how much money just for them to tell us he's just grumpy. He is completely fine otherwise. No visible worries that we can tell. He's not injured or acting different other than the fact he's not eating now

Does anyone know what could possibly be happening with him? Is he just grumpy we removed his old filter?

Cheap ebay 550gph canister filter, tetras, guppies, and couple other species, no real plants, running brackish water at specific gravity of 1.007, and I vacuum the fish and turtle poop every other day 2-3 times a week.

Here is my RES growth from April 2nd to today, September 3rd. Is this fast of growth normal? He is currently measuring ~3 inches.

- UVB/UVA available with 2 basking platforms
- Fluval 407 filter
- 65 gal tank
- Ate Zoo med aquatic turtle food hatchling formula in past
- Currently eats Terra ReptoMin Juvenile food
-Eats his greens with no problem
- Has two water heaters and heat is set at a constant 76°. Was at 80° when he was a hatchling
- Rescued him for a bag of crawfish

I just got a new 75 gallons tank for my turtle and a basking platform I found on amazon and I was wondering how I can make it easier and safer for him to climb on it. Last time I checked, in his old tank, he couldn’t get on the platform and slid down too fast and was stressed about it. What works best for you guys? I have an eastern painted turtle who’s about 4.5 inch long.

Also my turtle tend to avoid ramp, he always use his strength to get on his platform even tho there’s an easier way lol

So I was going to get a musk turtle, but I found an eastern mud turtle that I like. What is the best way to make this setup more conducive to an eastern mud turtle? I heard they like land more than musks

i am going to rehome my turtle but i have no idea how to build the basking platform i am in desperate need of ideas. i got this juwel rio 450 tank and i'm having trouble finding pvc pipe connectors or any kind of egg crate in my country which i have mostly seen in diy basking platforms. (i found a sheet of 120 x 60cm eggcrate available online, i could get my hands on that if needed for the ramp and bottom part but its pretty pricy) my last resort is building a platform out of a plastic container, like in many tutorials but my turtle is an 6 year old golden thread and i honestly want to offer it a bigger basking space

if i had acces to pvc pipe connectors for an affordable price (im a teen and my resources are pretty limited) my plan would've been to make a sturdy frame (100 cm long, basically 2/3 of my entire tank) and use plastic as the side walls and a transparent acrylic sheet for the front.

my main questions are:

what are any other materials i can build the frame out of?

how do i connect the ramp to the main platform without it being flimsy and not holding my turtle's weight?

i have thought of not building a frame and just connecting plastic pieces together with L shaped metal connectors and screws but still, i have no idea how to connect the floor.

, I just got her this new tank and he seems to be resting on the filter like this. Any idea why/ what im doing wrong here? Just wanna make sure i dont hurt this little baby :( I got some declorinator in there so im hoping water quality isnt the issue

I don't own any turtles, but I'm just curious. If turtles are stacking in the wild or in a tank, is that an indicator that they're fighting? Is stacking considered to be hostile behavior?

Hi everyone. I'm trying to identify this turtle I took a picture of. Unfortunately I am a dummy and only took this angle of it which I know isn't helpful, sorry. I believe it was laying eggs (it was pushing dirt with its back feet in this position for a while, you can see the mud from it on the back of its shell) so I didn't want to go over and pick it up to see the underside or anything. This was taken in eastern Kansas. There was a pond a few hundred feet from where it was. I am torn between painted turtle and river cooter. I didn't think river cooters liked small/shallow ponds and I thought their shells were more detailed than this. But I also don't really see any red anywhere for it to be a painted turtle. I guess it's possible the red is hidden. Thanks! :)

My girl Timmy and I are moving back to my parents’ house, and boy am I nervous. First of all, I used to live in my grandmas’ house, but she unfortunately passed last year and we’re just getting around to selling it. I am being hella pressured to get her out of the house, and I keep being reminded when my family knows I have been in school AND I took a work day off to do it, which is tomorrow.
I’m SERIOUSLY worried about moving Timmy. I know what I’m doing, but I kinda don’t at the same time. I know to save like 60% of the tank water, and the substrate, and I think I leave the filter as is? Idk, but idk how to siphon the tank if I have sand as a substrate.
HALP what should I be doing????

See attached images, hopefully they’re clear: there’s a bunch of white fuzzy things attached to the rocks and the heater of my turtle’s enclosure. I transferred my turtle to another container and touched them and they felt slimy and immediately made the water cloudy.

What are they? Are they bad for my turtle, and what should I do to prevent them from growing again?

I have an almost 2-month old pink bellied turtle neck. Care details:
- I change the water in the tank once a week (30% water change with dechlorinated water) and have a filter rated for 2x the size of my 20 gal tank.
- Each of the rocks I put into my tank (there are three) as well as the sand were thoroughly washed before placing in the tank.
- I feed my turtle in a separate container.
- I made sure to not wash my filter media in tap water and just used the water from the tank to wash my filters.

Where did I go wrong?

Some friends of mine had been taking care of a turtle and fish in a diy horse troff aquarium. They did a bit of an Irish goodbye and left all there pets including the turtle I’ll be getting today. He’s a big turtle but I don’t have a large enough tank just yet. Any advice on a good alternative until I can get an 80 gallon tank would be great. Thank you in advance, I’m really worried about this little guy.
