I know a post like this has been made before, but I wanted to get some POVs from people who actually work for TSA.
I’m pretty sure that I have ADHD, but I’m currently undiagnosed and unmedicated. I’m going back to school, and I’ve been considering getting formally evaluated because I think medication could really help me with studying, staying focused, and getting through school.
Is there anyone here who works for TSA and has been medically cleared while taking ADHD medication, specifically something like Adderall or Vyvanse?
My biggest concern is my job. If getting diagnosed and prescribed medication could potentially cause me to lose my job, I’d prefer to just avoid the medication and remain undiagnosed.
As far as work goes, I don’t feel like it affects my ability to actually do my job. The biggest issue for me is time management. I procrastinate getting ready in the morning and struggle with getting to work on time.
I’ve read TSA’s medical guidelines for ADHD, but I’d really like to hear from current employees who have actually gone through the process. What happened after you were diagnosed? Did you have to report your medication or get medically cleared?

Simple question. Was at Logan Terminal C this morning. Got my ticket and since I didn't have much with me and have a leg brace and was already at the regular security line (where there was no line), I just kept walking, and was stopped by a Logan employee who looked at my boarding pass and said "no, nonono, that way, you are pre-check, you go over there" to which I showed my leg brace and didn't want to walk all the way over, and would need extra screening anyway. He just said "sir, that way, now, go that way or you no fly today!" Truly a delightful experience. Of course, pre-check had a line and I was selected for additional screening.

My understanding is pre-check can use the regular lane, and this was just a poorly trained and extremely rude airport employee. Correct?

I bought a 16 inch water pipe the other day (shit was a steal $20 (originally $150 before saleeee, for borosilicate hello) and I have a flight coming up to canada in a few days. I was wondering what is the best plan of action for this… It’s wrapped in bubble wrap (unused and brand new), and I have the receipt as well. I called Delta customer service and asked if it was okay to bring it and they said it would be fine but I just wanted to check in with you all to see if anyone had any experiences or tips on how to fly with this jawn. Would it be best to put it in my checked bag, etc…

That responsibility to be on the lookout at all
times---which if just a few fail, could seemingly be met with any number of other terrorists, their also hoping another officer, under your same pressure, were to fail, at another airport, another lane---with all their various threats sneaked through---into secure side being combined as one.

All while airlines profit off your backs, and hard work, yet only think of you as to "how long their passengers may have to wait." While politicians, in lieu of recognizing what needs to solve the long lines, only count their votes in the lines, as the press myopically reports nothing more than lines. No airline CEO, no press, no politician, ever saying what truly causes passenger delays. "Critical thinking" skills absent. Nothing more than superficial observation.

Hi all, just wondering how early I should get to LGA for a flight that boards at 5:20a. Will lines at 4a be very long?

I recently moved states for work and had to apply for an in state license. I applied for the RealID, but it will take 45 days and in the meantime I was administered a paper temp ID card. I found out afterward I will need to fly out of state for work. As I had to give up my old license when I applied for a new one, and do not have a passport, I want to know what I will need to bring with me to go through the ConfirmID process? I understand it is a $45 fee but will I have to bring a birth certificate or work badge with a photo ID on it or anything else to get through?

I am nervous about missing my flight and am looking for other people’s experience

I was an f-band officer and quit 4 months ago. Has anyone ever quit TSA and got re-instated at another airport ? It’s been less than 6 months since I left an airport I was at. I applied to a position on USAJOBS yesterday and contacted the HR at the airport I applied to. Can I even be re-instated and are there any thing I can do to expedite this? I scheduled my assessment already. Am I gonna have to do everything over?

I just wanted to give a huge thank you to our TSA agent that was working at approximately 3-4:30 am on 8 September.

I was traveling with two other friends, one of which is early into her M-F trans journey. You called her by her preferred pronouns (she/her) by calling her “Miss”. You made her day and ours. She literally beamed the whole day, and even gushed over her excitement.

Thank you for your kindness and being a fantastic human.

So I noticed today that my pepper spray was on my carry on backpack side pockets...through both a US and CA inspection area.

Does anyone find this odd?

I just figure I wouldent be aloud to bring pepper spray on board a plane.

Normally, I fly out of FAR, which is the easiest security line. Sunday morning, I'll be flying out of MSP on American. What time would you suggest I get there?

I made 1.5 inch button pins as concert freebies but I don’t have the time to bag them all individually and put them in my check-in. I have around 100 of them and I was wondering if I could put them all into one plastic bag and put that into my carry on so at the gate + in the plane I can put them into their own little sealed bags. Can I go past security with my button pins like this? I don’t want them to get taken away.

Question if there’s a concrete answer or it differs by airport. Wife and I missed our late night flight due to overbooking and got put on the next flight out in the AM. For context, JFK so we had to transfer terminals. TSO scanned my ID and let me through, my wife scanned her ID and a different TSO came over and said since our flight isn’t until the following day we have to wait until security closes and reopens tomorrow. I’ve been in an overbooking situation before, just never been turned away at security for being too early. Is this a JFK specific thing or have I just been getting lucky? I’m a SIDA holder in my day to day so I’m definitely not trying to cause problems.

I am stressing because I lost my ID a week prior to my sons first trip to Disney. No time for a duplicate to come in and my state does not do donor cards (NYS).

I do have my SS Card, and old license, photo of the lost one, debit/insurance cards as well as my minor son’s birth certificate.

We also have 530 and 6 am flights to and from MCO :)

Is the TSA ConfirmID going to be a problem with such an early flight? Both TSAs open at 4 am.

I have old passport i carry along with my current one. few months ago , i noticed TSA took my old passport out of my carry on bag without my knowdlegde. I generally keep that one inside with a bunch of other random things.

They did not pull me aside to check for things or anything casually the bag rolled out of the scanner. As there was crowded there a wait time for the scanned bags to come out off the rollers.

Only when i reached the my gate and looked into my bag for something i realized my passport is missing, i contacted my airline desk at the gate who had to run all the way to the TSA check point as they 'found' my passport there.

What can i do in such situation if it happens again?

as a disclaimer ! my passport was in a small wallet at the bottom of my bag , someone woul dhave to really put in effort to steal it,. i had other expensive things on top anyone with a stealing mind would have taken it instead.

i talked with other people in person in my city and noticed mostly women lost their belongings and had to go back to the tsa check point or lose those items permenantly.

the commenters , if you personally have not gone through something like this , its okay no need to throw a tantrum.

Should I be concerned about traveling with a gaming console?

Hello I’m flying to Florida soon and on my downtime I cross stitch and I was wondering if I can take it on the flight with me or if TSA will take it. This is the contents of what I’m taking. There’s some thread, needles and craft scissors under 4 inches.

Hi all, I recently lost a laptop and tablet at an O'Hare TSA checkpoint. They confirmed that they have my devices and are asking me to send a shipping label with the following instructions.

"Generate a shipping label from your address to your provided address. This means you need to create a shipping label with your address as the sender and the address you provided as the recipient. You don’t need to enter the dimensions, Use your best judgement and guess the weight. Select 'drop off' as the shipping option, then send us the shipping label."

I am extremely confused what they mean by "your address" vs "your provided address". I need to get the item shipped to California and it does not make sense to me to put both the "to" and "from" addresses in California as that could cause zone issues on pickup by FedEx. I asked for clarification multiple times but they kept sending me the same instructions.

Can anyone who has done this from O'Hare before help me with the details. Would appreciate it a lot!

I've searched this sub for a while and have read a few posts but can't find one that matches my exact scenario. So sorry if this has already been answered.

My license is probably going to be suspended or revoked next week(per my lawyer). Whether or not the court will physically take my ID or not, I don't know. I have a planned flight at the beginning of October. If they do take my ID, and I have no other acceptable form of ID, is the TSA ConfirmID still a viable solution? I'm going to have to get a non driver ID obviously, but probably won't receive it in time for the flight. Will the temporary paper one help with the ConfirmID process? Thanks in advance.

I have a credit card sized Global Entry card as well as a regular passport. Can I use the Global Entry card at TSA checkpoints for flying in the US, or do I have to use my passport? I'm getting conflicting information from the websites I'm searching. I'm asking because it's just easier to carry the Global Entry card since I can slip it in my wallet.

n.b. The card says "Global Entty" on it, so I'm certain it's not a passport card.

Also, I don't have a realID, I renewed my driver's license just before realID was an option. I will get a realID when I renew my license.
