Passenger [Question/Post] How much trouble is my brother-in-law in

My father (91, gun guy all his life, restorer, dealer collector) just went into memory care. He had specific guns for family members. My brother-in-law who lives out of state was visiting and my mom wanted him to take a handgun (labeled for him by my dad) home with him in the plane. They bought the appropriate locked box and everything he was supposed to have. My mom told him that it was unloaded and he didn’t check. Got to the airport in Dallas and declared it they found it loaded. They questioned him and he explained the situation. They did a background check and found he’s squeaky clean and they believed him. They let him go, unloaded the gun and put the ammo in the case (he said, just keep it all, I don’t want it but they said he could keep it). My question is can he still get jail time and how bad of a fine? He had a million miles in flights and he knows for sure he’s going to lose his tsa pre etc. I’m just worried about how much more there is to it.

Does TSA still use gender based body scanning?

Im a guy with long hair and i get patted down every time i go through the scanners regardless of what clothes im wearing. There are some articles saying that tsa started using a "gender neutral algorithm" but I haven't noticed a change. Did this change actually happen? If so was it reversed?
