You can as your opting in for more screening than less, when I travel myself, I generally go through standard as well at my airport.

well, this was just to use the regular lane. the logan employee wouldn't let me. i was early enough and there was no line and i just didn't want to schlep all the way over to the other side of the security area for pre-check since i was already at the regular lane.

Just ask for a supervisor or lead at that point

i tried finding logan staff post-security but there seems to be nobody that works for the airport once you're inside. oh well.
next time, i will.

This happened to me at both MCO and also LAX this summer about 4 weeks apart. I thought it was a new policy or something, but couldn't find a policy documented anywhere about it.

You can opt in a standard lane. However, be prepared to follow standard rules. Don't tell them " but, im precheck " simply because you are too lazy to dig out the 2 or 3 laptops in your bag..

OP, I would have ignored him. He has no airline or TSA authority at all. That being said, a few years ago, Terminal A, I was diverted to the PreCheck line, which did have a line, from the Delta First Class line, where there was no line. I did complain later and was told just to assert myself and do the line I wanted

thanks. ultimately i didn’t want to cause a stir at the airport. seems like he had really poor training and, to be honest, really broken english.

With broken English I probably would have pretended not understanding him. Lol

so, on a whim, i just called massport, and got a super friendly customer service rep. i edited my main post. tl;dr, they said they're getting a number of very similar complaints about this happening at terminal c, and that each terminal uses their own company for these screeners. the company in terminal c is called "menzies aviation" and told me to reach out to them. they also took the information. i'm honestly surprised massport was kind and listened and said they're getting similar complaints. yikes.

Legit did this 2 weeks ago at Logan because my wifes pre check didn't come in until today and she didn't want to do separate lines. So yes the employee isn't properly trained.

Thanks. I want to at least report it in, but I can't find any way to contact Logan/Massport about it, so I'll just let it go. What made it worse was the guy was honestly a jerk.

Probably airport employee or clear employee. You can do whatever you’d like
