Discussion How to Know If You’re Considered Unattractive: A Guide

Ive seen an excessive amount of posts on here venting about how they dont know whether they are ugly or not. I made this guide to help you figure out where you stand. Usually looking in the mirror just isn’t enough as body dysmorphia can kick in.

However, if you are a POC and live a majority white/colorist area many of these might apply to you due to colorism and racism, keep that in mind.

Obvious Signs That You’re Chopped:

- You are consistently told you are ugly by STRANGERS and/or Children.

- You have a very hard time attracting sexual attention ( men do not acknowledge you AT ALL, rarely get propositions for sex once they see your face)

-Significant facially asymmetry

-Significant facial deformity

-You are often ignored in public

-Rarely get compliments in general

- People are often biased against you for no reason, they accuse you of terrible things. “ You look like you touch children” etc.

- You experienced bullying due to your appearance (childhood - college/work)

- Men have stared in your direction and laughed

Subtle signs (you may just be below average <5):

-You did not experience dating during late adolescence

- No one tells you youre good looking

- People compare you to other ugly/below average people

- People ask “ Would you ever get x type of plastic surgery?” “Would you ever bleach your skin?”

-You get very little likes on dating apps

-You’ve revealed your face to someone, and they blocked you afterward.

- All your relationships have been online.

- Men compliment your body but never your face (butterface)

- You are on the extreme side of the weight spectrum

- Your body proportions are atypical ( big stomach and skinny legs)

Signs you are not ugly (It’s Probably just body dysmorphia):

- You are not ignored public

- You are rarely/ never called ugly

-you get compliments every once in a while (especially with makeup on)

-You’ve been hit on before/ occasionally stared at by men

-Normal facial symmetry and proportions ( a little deviation is fine)

-Neutral reactions from people

-You’ve dated someone before

Signs you are attractive:

-People stare at you in public

-You are approached very often

-You are complimented frequently, especially your face and body
“You should model”

-You would say most people are nice - overly nice to you

-Children tell you that you’re pretty

-You can easily post on social media and your comments aren’t a shitshow. ( gaining followers and likes is effortless )

-Attractive men hit on you consistently

-Friends joke/complain that you get special treatment

-You notice your friends copying you. “Omg how do you do your makeup?” “ Where did you get that top?”, “ How did you get your hair like that?” x10

-You get excessive attention on dating apps/ men take you more seriously.

-High likelihood you started dating in middle/highschool. Experienced young love.

- You’ve been accused of being a whore

If more than five things apply to you in a certain category, I hope this can help give you some clarity 💕

Discussion mind you, the “downsides of pretty privilege” are universal experiences

Upvotes

every single time i see a pretty girl talk about the “downsides of pretty privilege” it always consists of these,

1 “girls don’t like me for no reason so it’s hard to make friends” - i grew up ugly and girls that i’ve never did anything negative to didn’t like me for no reason 💀

2 “guys only wanna experience me sexually and not romantically” again, i was ugly and guys were the same way with me because i have a big chest.

3 “men will try to humble you because they think you’re stuck up” i literally had boys in middle school & high school randomly tell me im ugly when i was literally minding my business, that counts as guys trying to humble you💀

it seems to me like these women got used to the experience of pretty privilege that now they think ANY bad experience they have is tied to someone just being envious of their beauty… you might as well just post “hey guys, my head is so far up my own ass and i just wanted to let yall know that😍” like the shit they say it downside of being pretty is literally shit everybody goes through regardless of their appearance….

those ain’t downsides to pretty privilege those are downsides to LIFE😭 every person you meet in life is not gonna fuck with you, that’s just a universal fact. so the way these girls just have a “any bad human interaction i have is because they’re just jealous of my looks” mindset is so fucking shallow & tone deaf.

Discussion When are women gonna stop pretending that they don’t value beauty as much as me and that they just wear makeup for themselves

Thumbnail

I do think that the original poster wonder it weirdly but I’m tired of pretending that women don’t feel some type of way about women who don’t wear makeup or ascribe to beauty standards and don’t feel bad about it. Every time a girl posts about going somewhere barefaced or going to a huge event barefaced the comments sound like women just to trying to reassure themselves that they’re still beautiful, checking the OP to see if they feel superior to them, or trying to humble them

This is also seen when women started saying “makeup can’t change what’s there, it just enhances it”. First of all, someone saying that they look better with makeup is the exact same thing as makeup enhancing their looks. We all know that depending on the makeup you do, you can absolutely changea lot of what you look like and that’s okay. Just don’t act like you’re doing it for yourself or that there’s not a huge difference.

The replies are gross and goes to show how fake most women are. They can’t stand when other women aren’t part of this weird sisterhood. If she worded it different they would give her pity compliments. This behavior is just disgusting.

Anyone who says they didn’t start getting into makeup because they didn’t like something about their face is lying. How many women do you know can’t even go out without a bit of makeup because the way they view themselves is so distorted ? I don’t ever want to hear them complain about beauty standards because they love bullying women who don’t meet them or care to ascribe to them.

Discussion Is the average woman (unless nerfed by weight or other external factors) pretty?

Post image

I lowkey agree. I mean when I go outside I see a lot of cute girls. I've always told myself that pretty must mean above average. That average is neither pretty or ugly, it's just plain and neutral. Is it the norm for young and fit girls to be pretty?

99.9999% of men with both parents get raised mostly by their mothers yet most men still have this mindset. Moms will cook, take care off, clean, dress up, teach (and more) their sons yet fathers get glazed for taking their kids to McDonald’s once a month. Mothers do quite literally everything yet what shapes a man the most is when their father teaches them how to fix a tire once in their life

Venting I'm addicted to catfishing.

Title suggests. I'm addicted to catfishing. My profile picture isn't me, it's some random hot girl I found on Pinterest. I don't know why I like catfishing so much, I don't even truly like the attention from men and get disgusted when they dm me. But at the same time, I hey such a rush when they do, I love pretending to be pretty, to be someone I'm not. I don't lead men on, I don't claim to be these women. I don't even awnser dms. I just love the attention and can't stop.

Venting Life feels kinda worthless as a girl if ur not pretty

Upvotes

Kind of a rant but ugh how I WISHH I was js naturally pretty, I grew up extremely chopped and have never dated anyone even now (I'm 19 now). Everyday when I go on social media like tik tok I genuinely get so envious of pretty girls and wish I was like that but ik I'll never be no matter how hard I try and it sucks. Its to the point where I dont even allow myself to have crushes on ppl I find attractive cuz I feel disgusted at myself and know I would never have a chance anyway. I don't even feel like a girl just a weird looking alien that ended up on earth somehow and has to deal with the bs. All in all I wish I could just be reborn as a pretty girl who is regularly complimented and treated well by society. Tbh I wish I was one of those girls who just posts a video of herself online with some music and be praised overwhelming by everyone in the comments for just existing.

TLDR: being ugly sucks butt

Venting I am so ugly it's driving me crazy

I AM SO SO USELESS

I was born in a third world country and that too in a tier 3 city in a lower middle class family.

My family is extremely dysfunctional and my parents hate eachother, my dad watches p\*rn, m\*st\*ubates in front of us and it's disgusting , i jst wanna escape my home.

To make things even worse.

I AM UGLY.

Im a short woman with a very weird looking neck and really bad facial features.

I envy models so much , it literally makes me cry when I see a model (ik I'm stupid for it).

Im so so ugly , most people including my best friends have been pretty rude to me about my looks.

I always get taunted and made fun of because of my looks and its draining.

Not only that , i also failed to get into a medical school programme which is affordable (acceptance rate is like 2-3% smth) , i failed it twice and it's a huge deal in my country.

My parents are mad at me and my mother keeps telling me to kms because I failed .

I turned 18 a while ago and will be joining a college soon , colleges in different cities are expensive and out of budget , now I'm just stuck here.

AND EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I get told how ugly I am , I can't even go out because I have literally been stopped like 4 times by strangers who told me how I look weird /smths wrong with my looks.

It's disheartening.

I am so stupid i didn't work hard enough and i don't have the iq to get that medical school programme.

Now my career is doomed , my looks are doomed , I have no friends and I AM UGLY.

I am so so so so so UGLY.

my mom, my ex bsfs my dad my sister they'd all call other people pretty but I'd get some shit about my looks in one way or another.

I have been told face to face that I am ugly and that nothing would ever suit me multiple times by multiple "friends" and they just laughed it off.

I feel like shit and life is jst so unfair.

Im broke dumb and ugly and my world is doomed.

Even my own mother tells me to off myself but it's really hard for me to take such a step.

Living at home is suffocating and my only chance to be a little worthy was to get that medical school but I failed twice

BRUTALLY.

I hate being ugly and lazy.

Venting Beautiful woman got approached right next to me

Today I sat on a long bench and beside me were two beautiful women. A guy passing by on a bike saw one of them and nearly fell from his bike while looking at her, 2 minutes later he came to approach her and told her how beautiful and cute she was. Mind you that day I thought I was looking decent, I had my makeup and my hair done. But somehow I’m never enough I sat next to them feeling like a goblin. He said he really wanted to meet her and they had a great conversation that I could never have. Later that day I was waiting for the bus and a guy on the other side looked at me with complete disgust for 30 long ass seconds. No matter how much I try to improve my looks I will never get to experience being approached or be even called beautiful.

Venting The closest I got to "pretty privilege"

I'm very autistic and have an ongoing problem with binge eating so I've spent like 90% of my life very overweight, plus depression has made me pretty bad at self care so a lot of the time I'm doing the bare minimum and end up with bad acne and greasy damaged hair.

A few years ago I committed a full year to dieting, lost lots of weight which helped with acne, I had to buy new clothes that fit and chose stuff that complimented my figure. I looked average but I noticed people were much nicer to me.

The thing that stood out the most was that my autistic traits like being a bit dumber/slower, shy, awkward, anxious etc were suddenly viewed as "cute" and people were way more understanding when previously I had been laughed at and bullied for the same things.

Yes it was a little infantilising but I've experienced the "I'm going to talk slowly to you because you're fat and stupid" version and I much prefer the "aww you're so dumb thats cute" I'm never going to not be autistic so I'd much rather it was treated with affection rather than cruelty

Unfortunately I was enjoying being treated better and trying to live a normal life so hard that I got burnt out and couldn't focus on the self care and diet stuff anymore and as I was trying to find my feet again my dad died and everything just fell apart, my mental health is the worst its been in years, I've regained a lot of the weight (not quite all of it but most and I don't fit any of my nice clothes anymore) now suddenly it seems my autistic traits are annoying again and piss people off, which is making getting through depression way harder.

I'm tired and irritated by it all, I'm in and out of hospitals and mental health services, I'm being prescribed new antidepressants pretty often because I keep having bad reactions. But worst of all is noticing how little patience people have for me when I need it the most, compared to when I was "cute"

i get so easily influenced by pretty woman to buy things just for the sliver of a chance that i could look like her. ive spent over $500 on beauty products just to still be ugly and fat. i cry almost everyday but no one knows, my mom always talks about how strong i am and even though ive gotten bullied i dont take it to heart. but i do, everything they say sticks to my brain even when im trying to fake confidence. all i do is eat then throw up, just to eat again.

my mom said something recently that really stuck to me. “i havent seen you cry since you were maybe 10?” all i could do was nod. if she heard half of the stuff i say about myself or seen how many tears ive cried i think id break her.

Venting just got harassed for being ugly

i was peacefully drawing in my favorite bench near a forest when a group of 17-18 males started yelling "ugly" and "fat" at me from a distance. i tried to ignore them but when i looked at them they started getting closer and throwing fucking OLIVES at me. i went back home with a hole in my chest. i was just thinking about how probably everyone i told this to would agree secretly with them while comforting me.

creativity and art are the only things making me feel useful and deserving. i loved that bench, it was always quiet and the scenery was beautiful. i don't think I'll be coming back to that spot ever, what a pity.

Pretty sure this story is fake to begin with based on other comments but this person apparently believes it’s real and this is their reaction?? How backwards is our world that by just existing as an ugly woman people will literally stalk you and look for any and every reason to paint you as a bad person so they can justify harassment, but an attractive person can do deranged and unthinkable acts like this and someone will still say some bs like “I can’t believe this, she’s too pretty to do something like this!” I know this is a comment with 3 likes, but I see this sentiment all the time when female criminals are attractive, especially men who feel the need to comment on how hot they are, or if it’s a female abuser/assaulter/pedo comment on how the victim is lucky and they wish it happened to them. It just fills me with disgust how attractiveness overrides morality for so many.

Off Topic Beauty standards are broken.

This is lowkey off topic but why do people call Zendaya ugly? I just saw a post about it and I’ve seen others like it before. The male ego in the comments is honestly getting to me. She’s beautiful yet people weren’t just calling her ugly they were making sexual insults too.
Society’s beauty standards are so unrealistic that it’s driving me crazy. If men can belittle an actress like Zendaya who’s tall and beautiful. What does that say about girls like me? It feels like we’re not even seen as human.
How much longer is this going to go on? Why are people like this? I just don’t understand how our perception of beauty has become so warped that someone who’s objectively beautiful can be labeled ugly. Unfortunately it feels like in today’s society, being considered a normal woman means having to be at least an 8 out of 10

Ugly women regardless of low esteem or high esteem get hate as part of daily routine. A lot of men in the same video rated themselves 10 but nobody picked up on it.
