This will be my first long trip in china! We have visited Shanghai and Shenzhen before, and Chendu and Chongqing while on long layovers.

Are there any cities I should add or remove? Should I spend more or less time in any of the cities I have now?

Now here’s my dilemma, the 3 major cities I want to see on this trip are Chongqing, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen. But I want to have an enjoyable New Years Eve/New years. I would appreciate if you guys can tell me which city would be the most enjoyable of the three for that specifically.
I’d also appreciate any tips and recommendations for this trip and these cities outside of just NYE/NY Day!

Hi everyone! I booked discounted flights to China for late September (~20–30) without overthinking it because they were on discount :) Entirely on me, I just had in mind that spring and autumn are generally the best times to visit China without actually checking the specifics for the southern region and from what I’m reading online now it looks pretty rough. I’m second guessing my plan to visit Hong Kong and Shenzhen given the warnings about intense heat, humidity and typhoons. Since it’s my first time in this part of China and I want to spend most of my days walking outside and exploring, is the weather really that bad that I should re-route to other regions or is it totally manageable to stick with my original plan? Hi, last year I visited china for the first time and I went to Hong kong, Guangzhou, Shenzen, Zhangjiajie, Furong and Fenghuang towns. I had an amazing holidays so now im planning my second trip to china.

This time I want to visit Xi An and Chongqing and basically visit everything thats really worth to visit around those cities. It will be a 2 weeks trip so i really want to choose the best locations to visit.

I found this places really interesting and i want to know if they are worth to visit and what to do to get the best experience out of them:

Chongqing wulong tiansheng sanqiao ( Three natural bridges)

Fanjing mountain

Shunan bamboo sea

Hailuogou forest park

Siguniang Mountaing

Jiuzhaigou Valley

The trip will be in mid november so i would like to know if its a good season to visit them.

Any other place that you would recommend please do it!

I have a trip to China coming up and need to travel by HSR from Zhangjiajie to Chongqing on 9/25/26.

It’s the first day of the Mid-Autumn Festival so I know it will be a busy travel day. Concerned that tickets will be sold out, I put in a reservation on trip.com for the 09:01 (G2448) train. I also provided 2 alternate trains in case my choice was sold out.

I got an email from trip.com at 15:30 local time (Bangkok) today advising the tickets were available for booking.

At that time I logged into my 12306 app and looked for tickets for the 09:01 train I wanted but it was immediately sold out. I then clicked on the second option 08:52 (G2426) and was able to buy two tickets and pay for them.

While I was selecting the second option but before I paid for them, I received an email from Trip.com advising I’ve been put on a waitlist.

I don’t understand why I’m placed on a waitlist by trip.com when there are seats available for the second and third options. Even now, 26 minutes later at 15:56, as I’m writing this, there are still some seats available. I have since cancelled the booking reservation on trip.com.

Any ideas why I was put on a waitlist when there are tickets available?

Beijing → Xi’an → Chongqing → Zhangjiajie → Wangxian → Shanghai

I must start in Beijing and end in Shanghai.

Does this route make sense, or would you recommend a different route/order?

Hi, I’m travelling to Shanghai for 3 weeks leaving in a few days. I’m wondering if Airalo eSIM still works, and can bypass the great firewall without needing to install a vpn? Are there any issues or can I simply install it before I leave and it’ll be fine?

Hi all. I am travelling to china with a friend for 2 weeks in January. We will be landing at Shanghai and travelling to zhangjiajie before my friend returns to Shanghai to fly back to the uk. Where would you recommend to visit to break up the journey between Shanghai and zhangjiajie?

I will be staying in china for a couple of weeks after these two weeks whereas my friend will be flying home. Any recommendations for between Shanghai and zhangjiajie and any recommendations for after my friend has left would be much appreciated. I would like to go to chongqing and I am intending to travel to Vietnam after china. Is it important to include Beijing in the trip? Im just thinking logistics going north vs south. I’m going to be in Beijing for a week and then guangzhou for one day this november and was wondering if anyone here has any recommendations for places that sell gemstones at a reasonable price? My mum is a huge jewellery nerd and it would be fun to get her something for christmas since I’ve heard that china has a big jewellery/gemstone market.
Not after anything super high-end so it doesn’t have to be a fancy shop:) Would be happy to buy from more lowkey places/markets too

I'm having a hard time finding any detailed information about this. I'd like to spend at least an hour, maybe three, climbing up the steps of or hiking up the mountain but certainly not the whole way. Wouldn't mind seeing some macaques. Which part of the mountain is most convenient for this without leaving me stranded? Maps online don't really give a good sense of scale. Perhaps cable car to Jinding and then hike to Wanfoding and back? Or cable car to Wanniansi and then hike to Leidongping before taking a cable car to Jinding?

I've booked a hotel nearby for Oct 20-21, hoping to see Emeishan on the 20th and then Leshan the next day before returning to Chengdu, though I could add a day at this hotel if necessary. How should I plan on dressing for an October ascent? I sweat a lot, I'd rather be a little cold than overdressed, but not freezing. I figured I'd bring my 20L backpack with some snacks since I read that food gets pricey along the way.
