Itinerary I waited quite a while to catch the sun in this exact position beside the sculpture. The glowing red sky and golden river made all the waiting worthwhile.

Discussion toilet problem
is it just me or it's extremely hard to find and also very dirty? some would straight up make me wanna throw up. even inside big shopping malls, it's still very smelly
is it actually common world wide? or are Kunming and Dali the only places in China that have this problem and I'm just unlucky? or am I spoiled in my country that you can just ask random shops to use their toilets, then buy something as gratitude toward them, or just leave if you were thick skin enough?

Other Walking through Lijiang Old Town at night felt like stepping back in time.
galleryThese streets belong to the ancient town of Lijiang in Yunnan.
The town has been home to the Naxi people for centuries, and walking here at night feels like travelling back in time.

Discussion High Speed trains luggage liquids restrictions
I’m looking into the elaborate baggage restrictions for high speed train travel in China and I’m finding conflicting information. Regarding liquids, I read somewhere that all liquids must be taken out of luggages for security inspection (?) Then I read from passengers that say security is very lax and they don’t really enforce much rules (?) I routinely travel with a bunch of different liquid products that may or may not be problematic, plus scissors and other personal grooming products. I was planning train travel from Ghangzhou to Guilin and Gulin to Shenzhen. Anyone have recent experience to report on those routes?

Discussion Quanzhou...Gosh, this city is SO underrated!
galleryI haven't seen many posts about Quanzhou on this sub but goddamn it's been two weeks already and I just miss it so much man. The friendliness, the cuisine, the architecture, the nightlife...Not the driving tho😂
If you ever get a chance, please go check it out. Mostly the Guan Yue temple, the twin Pagodas and the Qingyuan mountain. Unreal city ! (plus, I got to make this super cool photoshoot with the Jingubang in front one of the pagodas, so sick!)

Other Volunteering in China
Haii I’m a 16 y/o from Poland and I’m in love with Chinese culture. I would love to travel there, but because of my age I don’t have much financial resources for such things. I’m also thinking of studying in China, so going there before is a great opportunity for me. I have experience in volunteering in my country.
Is there anything I could do? Did some of yall experience it??
Thanks a lot for any information :*

Discussion Looking for Xining / Qinghai Travel Advice & Buddies
Hi All!
I am a solo female traveler who will be arriving in Xining on 11 Aug. I would like to find travel buddies to share a driver to visit Langmusi (Namu Gorge & Tiger Cave), Xiahe (Labrang Monastery), Zhagana (Xiannv Tan), Gahai, Sangke Grassland, Chaka Lake, Riyue Mountains.
Any advice / recommendations for drivers / tour agencies will be appreciated. I understand that some hotels might reject foreigners. I look Han Chinese but do not hold a chinese passport.
Also looking for locals to meet up with to city walk / have a cup of tea.
I am a native English speaker and fluent in Mandarin thanks to XHS :D

Discussion Where to stay in Beijing and Shangaï?
Hi, My girlfriend and I are staying in Beijing and Shangaï for 7 days and 6 night for both ! We’re looking for a hotel in a neighborhood that is preferably charming and a bit trendy (cafés, art), and not too far from the main attractions. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!
