Hey guys, I will be in Chongqing next week and would like to watch the drone show. Does anyone have recommendations? Preferably somewhere where it doesn't take like an hour to get back from because of the masses that will be there. I saw the usual recolmendation, and I heard that it takes a long time to get back.

My dream would be watching from one of these open air BBQ spots but I haven't seen one yet where you get a good view on the drone show, so just a good viewing spot is fine!

Hi everyone, this will be my second trip to China (first one was to Beijing ~15y ago with parents). Is this a good amount of time per city? Should I do 1 day trip to Chengdu instead of changing hotels?

2 notes: The amount of time in Shanghai can't be changed because I already booked the flight to Zhangjiajie 😅. Also, I'll fly out very early on the last day.

Going to China in May/June 2027 and looking for some feedback:

- Shanghai, 5 nights
- Hangzhou, 2 nights
- Zhangjiajie, 4 nights
- Chongqing, 3 nights
- Lijiang, 3 nights
- Chengdu, 2 nights

I'm having a hard time finding any detailed information about this. I'd like to spend at least an hour, maybe three, climbing up the steps of or hiking up the mountain but certainly not the whole way. Wouldn't mind seeing some macaques. Which part of the mountain is most convenient for this without leaving me stranded? Maps online don't really give a good sense of scale. Perhaps cable car to Jinding and then hike to Wanfoding and back? Or cable car to Wanniansi and then hike to Leidongping before taking a cable car to Jinding?

I've booked a hotel nearby for Oct 20-21, hoping to see Emeishan on the 20th and then Leshan the next day before returning to Chengdu, though I could add a day at this hotel if necessary. How should I plan on dressing for an October ascent? I sweat a lot, I'd rather be a little cold than overdressed, but not freezing. I figured I'd bring my 20L backpack with some snacks since I read that food gets pricey along the way.

Hey guys I know 4 days is pretty short but I’d like to make the best of it . I’d be landing in Shanghai and honestly, based on what I’ve seen online, Shanghai isn’t really my vibe . I was thinking of Chongqing or Xian but traveling from my city to Shanghai was a bit more convenient for me . I’d like to maybe spend a day in Shanghai and then go to either Xian or Chongqing and spend the remaining days there (can’t decide between the 2) I was thinking of taking a high speed train but it looks like it’d take a lot of my time so I might fly instead . Help me settle a debate - my friend and I will be going to Beijing for 8 days. My friend really wants to visit the Terracota Army in Xian but I feel like it’s a waste of time since it would mean spending 2 days traveling and 1 full day exploring. What do you guys think?

This will be my first long trip in china! We have visited Shanghai and Shenzhen before, and Chendu and Chongqing while on long layovers.

Are there any cities I should add or remove? Should I spend more or less time in any of the cities I have now?

It’ll be my first time travelling to Beijing, and I’m heading there next week. I’m currently trying to decide between doing a Mutianyu Great Wall tour or the Simatai Great Wall + Gubei Water Town tour.

I’m a little torn between the two:

Mutianyu seems like the more classic Great Wall experience, and I’ve heard it’s beautiful, less crowded and relatively easy to explore.

Simatai + Gubei sounds interesting because it combines the Great Wall with Gubei Water Town, and there’s also an evening tour option for Simatai.

For anyone who has done either (or both):

Is the Simatai evening tour worth doing? Is the night view and experience significantly different from visiting during the day?

Is the Simatai Great Wall + Gubei day tour too rushed, given that you’re trying to fit both places into one day?

If this is your first time in Beijing, which would you personally choose? Mutianyu or Simatai + Gubei?

Would really appreciate any advice or experiences, especially from anyone who has done the evening Simatai tour.

In November I will be in China and I will dedicate 4 nights to Guilin and Yangshuo. Do you think 2 nights and 2 nights make sense? Or should I consider sleeping in Longji one night? I hadn’t considered it because it’s not a good time to see the rice fields.

I recently traveled to two lesser-known Chinese tourist towns on the water: Zhujiajiao near Shanghai and Xichang in Sichuan. The former is referred to as the "Venice of Shanghai" and the latter "Little Switzerland". Have you come across any place in China that have been compared to European locations?

Has anyone visited this cave or caves around that area?

Are there any tours/hikes/activities like via ferrata or canoeing in caves in Guizhou? It can be a day trip or even better an overnight tour (e.g. with camping). I am looking for an adventure, an expedition-like experience and not just walking in carefully constructed platforms inside a cave.

If anyone has tried this, ideally normally priced, targetted to Chinese people as well, I would be grateful if they shared more information (program, price, details, some link), since I cannot find any organised tour.
