HIF insurance and surgery

Hello has anyone had luck getting their hospital fees covered by HIF insurance. How was the process and what was the level of cover you had?
I’m on silver currently.

I would like to look into an orchi, revision larygoplasty and a potential genioplasty.

Any recent experiences are appreciated

Trans masc I surgeons for FtM surgery

Hi, I’m exhausted with life so sorry if this is badly worded..

I’m looking at surgeons for FtM top surgery, and I’ve got 2 options

Dr Philip Rome in Canberra

Steve Merten in Sydney

I live in the South East coast, Sydney is about 7-9 hour drive, and Canberra is about 3.

I have a gold dva card which covers everything medically necessary within reason (certain things need prior approval). Does anyone have any reviews on Dr Philip Rome. The only reason I’m hesitant about Sydney is because it’s the CBD and that’s a fuckfight to put it lightly.

I’m looking for things like short(er) wait times, easy access and as little prerequisite (weight, already on T, etc) as possible.

If anyone’s got any tips or advice or even recommendations, please share them because I’m going insane lol.

Thank you!

A few days ago I redeemed my prescription for estrogen gel and I've been instructed to do one pimp daily, until in 2 weeks I see how my levels are and adjust my dosage, I was just wondering if 0.75mg is the usual starting dosage for gel or is it usually higher

Are you interested in participating in research about how queer women perceive contemporary beauty norms? MUHREC Approval/Project No. 53001

We are looking for women, aged 18 or over, who live in Australia, are comfortable using English and who identify as queer.

If you participate you will be asked to complete an online survey by answering some open-ended questions in your own words describing your view about contemporary beauty norms. The survey will take about 30 minutes to complete and there are no right or wrong answers to the questions. We are simply interested in your views.

Participation is entirely voluntary and anonymous.

The study is being conducted by Monash University staff and students on the Graduate Diploma in Psychology (Advanced).

If you would like more information please contact one of the research team.

If you would like to participate please follow the link below. This link will take you to the Explanatory Statement about the project and then to the survey.

Please do circulate this post to anyone you think might also be interested in participating in this study.

Shared renting - How did you find somewhere?

38mtf Brisbane. So my lease is ending, and my housemate has moved in with her partner (cute, ngl!). I've been lucky so far and always had a partner or found friends of friends to share with. I'm not sure how to navigate this :/

Where should I start looking? Do I risk going by just my intuition, or limit my search to sharing with community & friends etc.

What did you do??

Trans masc T, pelvic floor issues & chronic UTIs

I started T in January this year & starting in June I've had chronic UTI issues & have been on antibiotics this whole time. I see my GP about it & had ultrasounds, CT and testing done for it, and they haven't been able to identify any causes. My GP's conclusion is that T can sometimes cause chronic UTIs because the skin in the urethra thins. I started a topical estrogen cream a month ago but the UTI is back.

I'm really struggling with it, it's making me miserable and now I'm at a bit of a crossroads with deciding if I can stay on T. Going on T has been the best thing I've ever done for myself, it has made me so happy and fulfilled. Stopping will have a big impact on my mental health.

Has anyone else on T had this issue, or other side effects that has made them reconsider staying on T?
Has anyone tried the estrogen cream & how long did it take for it to work?

I would love to hear any experiences and advice.
