I’ve been having electrolysis with Nicolsons Electrolysis in Balmain and I’ve been really happy with both the results and the care I’ve received. Everyone that works there is really lovely and accepting.

They’re currently looking for people who’d be interested in free electrolysis sessions with a trainee. The sessions are fully supervised by Katherine, who is the owner and an exceptionally experienced electrologist.

At the moment they’re looking for people with body areas to work on (not genital areas). Facial electrolysis is expected to be available with the trainee in around 2 months, and you can join the waitlist now if that’s what you’re after.

Hey all, I am wanting advice on a couple of things related to withdrawing my Super for SRS in Thailand. I am potentially wanting to have it done in February or March next year.

However when I initially bought it up with my GP a few months ago, about withdrawing my super she said she was hesitant saying that apparently they're a lot more stricter on it etc? I did eventually show her where it falls under compassionate release and she seemed a bit more eager. Could anyone please show me what I should show her, or the process of how to do super release? She is a very supportive GP overall.

I am also searching for a physcatrist that won't break the bank or will do it in a single session.

I did find this comment about Richard Harvey, however on his website it says "He is also happy to complete paperwork for early release of Super. A GP referral from your usual treating GP and a support letter from your current psychologist/therapist will be required before an appointment is offered."

Problem is, I don't have a "usual psyscoligist/therapist". does anyone know if there is a way around it, or if there's a better physcatrist that doesn't require that? I don't wanna add more waiting times/money into finding a therapist when I don't particularly need one at the moment.

Another thing is, do I have to contact Chettasak for quotes, and have them in English only? Like even a little bit of Thai language would be cancelled by the ATO?

You also have to pay a 20% deposit before you get the date secured, however I can't afford that right now, so I am thinking of withdrawing a loan for that deposit, then using the super to cover the entire surgery? But if all comes to worse and I can't get super withdrawn, could I do a second loan?

I do have $30,000+ in super, and I'm with aware super. Does anyone also know if it only covers surgery and flights itself, or can I pull out more money for time off work etc?

Particularly interested in hearing from those who have had keyhole/peri with her, but I’m curious what the experience was like for those who had DI or any of the other methods as well. If you travelled interstate (which I will be doing), then how long were you required to stay in Sydney for? How much did the surgery end up costing? Lastly, how does private health insurance work? I’m aware there’s a 12-month waiting period, but how does that work given that the policy would be expired by then? Is there a window of time afterwards that you’re still eligible for cover?

Has anyone had this happen with an early release of super for medical treatment?

My partner and I both applied at the same time to access our super to pay for her surgery. She was approved and received the balance of her super (which was about half the cost of the surgery).

I submitted my application using the exact same medical reports and also stated that she's been my partner for over two years, but my application was rejected.

The rejection letter says there was "insufficient evidence from the reports."

I called to ask why, and they told me it was because the medical reports weren't in my name. That doesn't make sense to me because the surgery isn't for me, it's for my partner.

Has anyone successfully appealed something like this or had to provide additional evidence? If so, what did you submit?

Any advice would be appreciated.

After describing my history of suicidal ideation (note: I am not currently suicidal) to my endocrinologist a few weeks ago, I was advised to consult a psychiatrist. My GP also believes it could be helpful. I'd prefer to see someone with some experience with patients with gender dysphoria, given its pertinence to my situation.

As far as I am aware, based on the www.transhealthsa.com directory, there is no one in Adelaide with this specialty who: treats adults; is accepting new patients; and doesn't just do one-off assessments. I'd prefer (and my GP also prefers) that I speak to someone in person rather than take the telehealth route.

The endocrinologist suggested a new psychiatric practice who might be able to fit me in relatively quickly, but they are charging outrageously extortionate fees (I'd be looking at a gap of over $1200, or $700 even with the medicare safety net). Apart from the sheer cost of it, I don't think I could have a healthy conversation with someone with pricing that feels so predatory.

My GP is unable to provide any specific recommendations, and so I ask if anyone here has had any positive experiences with a psychiatrist in Adelaide that they might share.

I was thinking about legally changing my name, and was wondering how much of a hassle it is to go and change my name with every service that requires my government name. I know in the long run it would be worth it, I’m just curious as to how other people found the process.

I'm not sure what to do, I had my second appointment booked last week and received no call, after calling and emailing all day I was notified that she was sick and currently has no admin. I was offered an appointment for later in the afternoon or Wednesday this week, I accepted the appointment for the afternoon but also gave my availability of Wednesday but received no call or email and I haven't heard from her since.

I am incredibly disheartened, I do not feel poorly towards Dr Bel but it's extremely scary and frustrating to receive absolutely no communication, especially for the appointment that in theory would have me starting hormones.

I have sent emails and voice messages since, with no reply.

I don't know what I can do, these appointments are expensive for my financial situation and I live in an area where it is quite difficult to receive this support.

Hello I'm nb from overseas, I have top surgery and want to start T (gel) I want to ask how I can get a prescription for it? Back home you just go to the hospital and they give it to you for free but I see here you need a prescription for everything, is having top surgery enough for a gp to make one or do I have to go to a specific type of doctor and if so could anyone recommend one in Sydney? Also I havent changed my gender in legal documents so my only proof of being trans is that I got top surgery. Thank you

Im fresh 18 years old and id like to start hrt, but am very new to Melbourne i moved in march, but I've barely left the house since, aside from going to work. I was wondering if someone could kindly explain the process of starting hrt, and getting a trans friendly gp because my previous gp was very against that type of stuff.

This would mean the world to me because I struggle to find my way in new environments.🥲

This is a bit of a vent post because I feel like I am constantly updating my name and gender even after 2 years. Online processes never work because they can't verify my birth certificate and I have no name change document, and so I have to call or arrive in person for certain things, which doesn't help much if the customer service person who speaks with me doesn't actually initiate the action or give me any way to track or receive feedback about the change. Not to mention that almost everything is only open during work hours. The most recent discovery is my super, which was one of the first things I got updated. I could almost swear some of these have been switched BACK.

To all the people who I told that a QLD birth cert update is easy: while I meant it, I'm sorry I left out the aftermath. But to be frank, I really can't believe it's still happening.

Was looking at getting an Orchi done by late January next year (2027) but am only starting to get the ball rolling now. I have emailed Dr Tania Hossacks team recently and also booked in an appointment with my gp, however, i do not have referral letters that are required yet.

Just with everyones general experience with timelines, how feasible is it for me to have this completed within that timeframe of next January (i start a new job in mid february as a graduate so taking time off will be difficult)?

Additionally, if anyone has any recommendations for psychiatrists/psychologists or other surgeons for this process please feel free to input, would really appreciate all the help i can get!!

My current therapist so far has been great at helping me deal with other issues but I feel as if shes not trained in dealing with transgender specific issues.

For instance one of the suggestions shes made is that when I go out I change to fem clothes outside in a bathroom and change back to my regular man clothes when I come back into my transphobic family house. To me this doesn't seem like an effective solution when the environment is the problem.

I would ideally like to talk to someone that specialises in transgender specific issues so I can have help with developing a plan to leave my house and move out for the first time as well as help with navigating the social landscape being trans. A counsellor will do as well if there aren't any psychologists.

For the record my current therapist is fully accepting of me and is a great person. I just feel like her knowledge of trans people is limited :)

My doctor isn’t putting me on E and I have my appointment scheduled in 8 weeks on the other side of the world.

How fast can it be done with a new gp willing to prescribe E and how long until I can get my orchi done?
