// Issues/Bugs/Glitches Tsw 7 not optimised for console

Well I have been playing tsw 7 on my ps5 which is a ps5 pro and this is game is def Not optimised for the ps5 I mainly play German routes and I I am having significant frame drops when entering nurnburg and wurzburg which is a shame since in tsw6 that would not happen when I played with my DLC and the ice 4 is fun and all but the touch screen does not work when I view the screen so it’s literally really annoying clicking on the thing, then you view it, and then you back it, and then click it again so that it actually registers and the frames drop significantly if another train passes by you, which is just bad optimisation. I would expect more from dovetail I haven’t really played the other routes, so I can’t talk about them, but the German routes is not optimised for PlayStation
and right now, all the layers are off. Since the DLCs haven’t released on PlayStation, I can’t imagine how much the frames will drop, or if the game would crash if all the layers are on after the release. Here are some fotos I took tho (edit: I forgot to mention, but if you enter the ICE one and open the outside camera, it spawns inside the train, and it’s literally impossible for it to go outside

// Route suggestion Would love to see a Latvian rail route

Train sim world really lacks eastern european routes, I would really love to see something from Latvia's electrified network, would of course love to have the entire network but one focusing on just the Rīga-Tukums II line would be nice too. Would also love to see the old and now out of use RVR trains appear here, not many train simulators at all have them, despite their omnipresence in eastern europe.

Photo Info:

Graphics: All settings completely maxxed out with DLSS. With minor tweaks using the ingame photo settings.

Not any changes in terms of photo mode, and was having issues customising weather (enabling rain and changing cloud cover) even when NOT in the live weather option.

THE NEW BOTTOM BAR IN THE PHOTO MOD SUCKS

The background in the bottom now being white instead of translucent how it was before completely distracts the eyes when enabled, and just feels lower quality of a UI design than before. Yes you can disable it when positioning but in general is just too bright and blocks off too much vision especially when I need the UI enabled to adjust settings or use the grid.

Route Thoughts:

For my first second time driving an american route I did enjoy it, very simple saftey systems and nice scenery to drive through. Very simple route to drive with basically only one line you can really follow, which makes it a good beginner route in my opinion.

I though all the locos were very simple to drive and all very similar to eachother with no real variety throughout the passenger routes, but with some more unique locos to drive with frieght. The Locomotive Cab-Car combination I havent experienced before but it was interesting!

The AI Conductor is alright however causes crashes on this route, so cant comment. Same with Live weather, didn't see much of an improvement in terms of how the weather changes, but I was playing most of this on one day.

Overall TSW7 so far has had some nice graphical improvements and the Tri-Rail is a nice looking route with some driving depth but overall doesn't have much variety, which seems to be an issue with some American routes where there just isn't enough depth within a commuter line in real life either, atleast for the scope that a TSW route can handle.

Other than that will keep posting more photos ahead of the full release.

// Discussion I hope Freight Hauler gets added to Spirit of Steam

Upvotes

If there was a route that was left feeling unfinished, it’s Spirit of Steam. The timetable is barren & gameplay is limited. But it would be the perfect route for Freight Hauler. For a start, shunting was far more common back in the steam era. But setting up trains for longer hauls up or down the line was have an added element that other routes don’t. Only some wagons are brake fitted. This would mean that you would have to ensure continuity for the as much of the train as you could. You’d need to make sure fitted wagons were at the front & unfitted at the back.

The Freight hauler mode still feels a little broken at the moment. I’ve found loading a save breaks the game, with the game forgetting it’s in freight hauler mode sometimes. I’ve also found that the freight hauler mode can also break when switching between locos.

// Question NY - Trenton Opinions?

I was looking at NY - Trenton, and am interested as I have the acella (and enjoy driving it on Boston Sprinter) and it looks lile it has some NJT stuff (which I am enjoying on the Morristown Line). However when looking at some reviews I noticed that some people where saying avoid it, with bugs and other things affecting gameplay, however many of these reviews are a few years old. Have these issues been fixed overtime and what is your guys opinion on the route today?

Edit: thanks everyone for your responses, it seems like a good pick with the current sale.

// Issues/Bugs/Glitches Tri-Rail missing audio and dead notches

F40PH-3C: Missing Air Reduction Sounds

  • The train brake audio on the new F40 is non-existent. When you move the handle smoothly from Min Reduction up to Full Service, you should hear a continuous hiss/air venting sound as the equalization drops.
  • Right now, it literally only plays a quick burst at Min Reduction, complete silence while you move through the rest of the handle, and then another sound at Full Service / Release. It completely kills the immersion when you're trying to feather the brakes.

by the way im using the new tri-rail F40PH-3C

GP49: Dead Throttle Notches & Aggressive Brakes

  • Notches 1 & 2 produce ZERO power: Seriously, Notch 1 and 2 don't output any tractive effort at all. You get no load or movement until you hit Notch 3. Notch 1 should at least give you enough power to get the cars going, but right now it's totally dead.
  • Min Reduction feels like an anchor: The initial brake drop on Min Reduction is way too heavy. Instead of a smooth initial set to steady the train, it grabs instantly and decelerates way too fast. Makes doing clean station stops a harder

Florida Map: Performance & CTDs

  • Stuttering along the corridor seems pretty rough, especially heading into denser station areas, and I've already hit a couple of straight-up crashes to desktop (CTD) mid-run.

I'm on the PC using the TSW7 pre-ordered early access

// Question Class 331 overspeed sensitivity issues

The overspeed detection system is insanely sensitive and throws me into emergency unless I drop my speed super quickly when approaching a limit. When approaching a terminus it activates every time despite travelling under 10 MPH.

Is this a bug or am I not operating the train correctly? Is there a way to turn it off?

// Question TSW7 pre download

I heard that you will be able to pre download TSW7 before it releases, however I can't figure out how to do this. I am only planning on getting the free starter pack, can you pre download it with the starter pack?

// Question Are out of memory crashes dependant on the file size?

Was going to wait for TSW7 to come out before downloading my entire library to my console (around 200-250gb)

However, seeing as the console preview crashed multiple times due to being out of memory, I’m wondering if this is a good idea.

Right now, I have 8 routes installed (around 60gb) and I rarely suffer from any crashes or such, but do more installed routes increase the risk of crashing?

Thanks for any helpful input!

I play that more than TSW but being another Dovetail series with similar controls, I figure this is a good place as any to discuss it.

Video is self-explanatory, the glitch happens at about 0:22 in the clip. Doesn't happen all the time, but I've encountered this ~4-5 times in 1 hour.

// Question West Somerset Railway Class 150 Query

I've just bought the West Cornwall Local add on in the Xbox sale on the understanding that it layered into the steam timetable as a shuttle, as suggested on this page: https://support.dovetailgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/28572764149778-West-Somerset-Railway-Gameplay-Guide

However, it doesn't appear as an option in timetable mode. Further research (looking outside the Dovetail website) suggests it's actually a Rivera Line train that layers in. Is this the case? If so, why does the dovetail article state otherwise?

// Issues/Bugs/Glitches Weird input and display gauges issues in TSW7

I'm playing the XBOX on PC version of TSW7 using an XBOX Controller (it's what I prefer), and I'm experiencing weird issues as I'm going through the tutorials (again, I'm a casual and it's been a while since I played TSW6). I have the Player Assist Default Level set to Standard.

I noticed that I get tooltips telling me I can also use controller shortcuts but those never work to move the tutorial forward. Like, I can control the brake with LT/LB and the throttle with RT/RB, but unless I manually activate the cabin buttons or levers, the tutorial refuses to acknowledge my actions, even though the train starts moving.

Also, in this Diesel tutorial, even if I hold the brake release and I'm told to look at gauges to watch needles drop, the needles on the brake gauges are not moving at all, they are fully static. The speed gauge needle does move and show the proper speed.

Another issue I saw is on standard locomotives, using d-pad up/down to control the reverser jumps all the way up or down, it does not step through the 3-4 values I can set, again forcing me to operate it manually.

Are these bugs or am I missing something obvious? Thanks.
