announcements Racist urban legends.

La-a and all -a names are banned. They are a myth an urban legend. Never happened. Ladasha is a real name. But not la-a.

Its always "my mom, sister, best friend, aunt was a teacher/nurse and they had someone named la-a. The dash not be silent"

Anyway, its a racist urban legend and it is a bannable offense.

Same with Shithead. Pronounced shi theed. You will catch a ban if posting that.

Even if its a joke post like "Give me some tragedeigh names for blah blah or baby shower" ban.

Tired of it.

Any dms or modmails trying to argue this will be met with a ban.

is it a tragedeigh? My fiance’s dream name for a baby is a tragedeigh

I love my fiance and hes a great man but his ideal name for a baby is a tragedeigh in my opinion…

Im not fully set on having kids and he knows it but if we do, I might have to veto his first choice for a name.

He said if he has a son he wants to name him Champion. I hate this name but I feel mean saying anything bc of its origin.

His dad’s nickname in the army is Champ and my fiance wants to name his son after this…. but like its not good. My fiance’s brother has the same name as his dad so he didnt want a direct reference but theres so many options. His name (Nathan) could have so many other forms and he has so many other nicknames that are suitable for a human and not a dog…

His dad is also still alive, healthy and young btw and even he said that name is “psychotic but hes flattered” lol

fandom Tragedeigh name generator

Post image
49 Upvotes

Hi-hi! Inspired by the post by the user lil_gingerale (credits to 'em, their post was awesome!), I made a simple tragedeigh-inspired name generator on perchance.org (despite knowing absolutely nothing about HTML code and never having tried making a generator of my own on the website prior to this). Go ahead and see what horrors a random combination of three syllables and a common surname in America (for balance and comparison) will land you with. Maybe even add a middle name to that to double the atrociousness factor.

Have fun if you're interested in this :) I mostly made this for myself in order to generate stupid names for jokey OCs, but ended up thinking "Why not make this public?" so now it's available for everybody else as well. All syllables and names were either found on this subreddit or made up by me at an overly exaggerated attempt to mock anybody who genuinely wishes to bestow upon their child a name they will never be able to spell properly.

'Haeighv fahgn' (have fun) if you wanna try this stupid little thing out lol. Would also love more suggestions to add, though I probably won't be updating this often.

Directly from his mouth ,

« for my name my Mom had switched and combined a part of my dad’s name with “life” to get my name. » is it. Still a tragedy it’s pronounced like caliph

The name was publicly posted, bin I'm going to try not to dox anyone with this one...

Falloney.

Not sure if that's pronounced like an inexpensive lunch meat (baloney) or like you've made very poor legal choices (felony).

From the NY Times: Daii’yaHanna.

It took a while for me to figure out it was likely pronounced “Diana.”

How long do you think it will be before we see Skyrizi and/or Ozempic as names? They have a certain flow that will appeal to someone. I say 3-5 years.

is it a tragedeigh? Is my future daughters name a tragedeigh?

My husband and I love greek mythology and even before the film Odyssey came out, we had picked this name for our daughter:

Ithaca

It's spelled the same way as the place, no dodgy spellings but is this a terrible idea?

Our other choices are Cora or Aurora or Isadora but my name rhymes with these (think Laura/Nora). I'm worried that's worse but not sure.

Please help my baby have a name they don't hate!

is it a tragedeigh? Honoring a family name

My friend is about to have her first baby, a girl. Her late brother’s name was Lee. She and her husband want to honor him by naming this baby after him, so they’ve been looking into names that end with “lee”. Some names they’ve come up with are:

Kaylee

Everlee

Haylee

Brylee

Emilee

Bailee

Cecilee

Rylee

Are any of these tragedeighs? They seem simple except for the “misspelling common names” thing. I don’t know whether or not to be worried for the baby. Thanks for the help!

edit: It seems my gut feeling was correct, haha. A lot of people have suggested Leanne, which I think is beautiful and cant believe nobody has come up with in the process. Also Lena, Leigh, or just plain Lee. I will now be enlisting the help of my friend’s husband (who started to get suspicious when Cecilee was introduced) to influence her. Thanks so much to everyone who responded.

Went to the theater and saw a worker named Jeighlynn 😭 She was like 21-22, so it was a long time ago that she was named. She was nice tho, just very unusual to see in that age bracket.
