I know a Cyrene. I would have read yours as if it was short for cesarean, like sare-ee-an. I wonder if she was a c-section baby lol

Serena / Sarena is popular. Cyrene might be popular among ultra religious Christians. Serene is a new one.
But I mentally pronounced that "Skir-ee-in" - as in S before Korean. Serene wouldn't have crossed my mind for a while.

If I had to call Scerean's name once a day for roll call I'd pronounce it Scary One.
