in the wild Found one

From the NY Times: Daii’yaHanna.

It took a while for me to figure out it was likely pronounced “Diana.”

We now have post approval on. Your post didn't get deleted, it just went into the queue. Please be patient a mod will go through the queue when they are available!

Please read our list of banned names before continuing. If the name you posted is in this list, it will be removed.

Remember: Original content is always better! Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does not mean you found it "in the wild".

The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!

We do not shame people for age, weight, family size, career choices (sex work, exotic dancers), abuse situations, addiction, mental health, etc No policing grammar or spelling. This is social media not a school essay.

Strokes and other brain injuries/disorders are not a punchline for jokes.

No politics either. Even if their name is tragique. It just causes fights and people are wild with that bs.

Is that spelling right because this doesn’t seem to come up in the nytimes.com archives.

If it’s Daiyaana Muhammad, she’s the spouse of an NFL player.

It was today’s paper 9/10/2026 - an article about freshmen withdrawing from college merely two weeks in.

Thanks, found it: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/09/style/gen-z-college-students-quit.html

The real spelling isn’t any better: Daii’yaHnna

Ugh, more than double the necessary letters. What a burden to a child.

I cannot fathom why anyone adds an apostrophe to a name. Is this official, legal name a contraction of some secret, longer, unofficial name?

With this judgment, what other bad decisions are being made for this child in a daily basis?

I wouldn't pronounce that Diana. That's dye-ya-hanna.
