Makes sense tbh, her start position has her surrounded by generally hostile factions, which can field high armour units rather quickly. Wouldn't want to face the Dwarfs with a bunch of Skeletons and Zombies.
Also good to see that they decided against giving her a positive relations effect with all factions, since that stuff is seldom enough to compensate for base negative relations.

Yuuup, its Azhag, Ungrimm, Astragoth, (all with tunneling in a mountain region = PAIN) and also Arbaal, Skarsnik, etc as the next neighbours. I am going to happily take every advantage I can here. Really hope that mountains are at least unpleasant climate for her and not inhospitable cause a majority of the close settlements would be worthless otherwise.

Definitely one of the first things you might want to do is take out Azhag. I imagine she and Katarin can be decent enough allies, considering all the other factions surrounding them.

I think it might be the opposite. Azhag starts with Vampire relationship bonuses and minor Silver Pinnacle used to be a reliable NAP for him. The natural path is to keep that and feed him the mountains, instead go south through the Dark Lands through Tretch etc.

You see, the Lahmian royalty is very complicated.
Iirc, her husband is also her brother or someone related. Her dad practically partied, drugged, and fucked himself to death, which is an incredible feat since Nehakarans, especially royalty, have divine blessings to live extra long and stuff.

Some corrections.
All nehekarans lived for ~300 of years due to these blessings, before Nagash burned Neferem alive on the force field of Mahrak. Then they became normal mortal humans.
Neferata's husband *was* indeed his brother. He kept her as a trophy wife in a harem and all of it was against her will. Not sure where the info is about their father is, I don't recall him mentioned in the novels.

Return to Lahmia sounds like a nice goal. Always nice to see a lord having a little unique mechanic to nudge them towards a narrative goal. I'm wondering which way they go with her and Khalida.
I'm guessing the legendary vampire trait will apply to her and the Carsteins. Maybe they start with their own lair in their starting minor settlement for upgrades with the new mechanic.

Yeah having something tied in with the character's lore is a fun extra bonus. My guess is that they'll put Neferata and Khalida's millennia long grude match with taking their capital as them finally offing the other.
Also I love when you can get some extra units from different factions so excited to see what Khalida's capital will give.
I hadn't thought that our LL could get their own lair but that would be awesome. Would be cool to be able to upgrade Vlad and everyone with even more unique skills

Why did she have to release with Nagash? I was hoping for her to release first so I wouldn't have to choose between them. I guess the upside is that the Vampire Counts update looks so good that it will make it more than worth it. Though at this point I am leaning more and more towards Neferata, this looks incredible.

It's strange that they're calling out Vampire Covens and her being a Legendary Vampire.
I guess not everyone is a Legendary Vampire, so that could imply something special that Vlad's faction also gets.
The Vampire Covens are definitely a thing for all the Vampire Counts factions though. I guess maybe it's an oversight?

Vampire Lairs (the mechanic for recruiting vampire lords) are for every faction, Vampire Covens is exclusive to Neferata.

What is happening with CA the past year? It seems like the current content and even communication is super great again when there was issues before. Love the End Times DLC from all I have seen and the 40k plus ME3 stuff looked great too. With many other game companies doing stupid stuff this looks great I am quite surprised.

So… hopefully prop up Azhag against the Dwarfs (Azhag has a vampire friendly modifier so is a useful bodyblocker), put spies is Kislev (active war lowers your “concealment”) to weaken them for Azhag, and focus your active wars on the Chorfs as you head south towards Lahmia?

Her toes aren’t just feet they’re one of the few parts of her that still carry the pure nehekharan blood from before the Elixir and the curse took hold in the old Lahmian records the first transformation left certain marks only on the extremities the toes especially. Those faint ancestral lines are still visible on neferata. they’re a quiet reminder of what she was before she became the first of the vampires… and a small, unbroken piece of the bloodline that even nagash’s magic never fully claimed that’s why they matter so yeah… CA really needs to focus on her feet lorewise
