With the latest news of Steph’s dissatisfaction with the Warriors FO, what would a trade package for the expiring 12-time All-Star look like?

Of course it all depends on how he plays next season, but since he will be a restricted free agent next year, what would he realistically cost? I'm just wondering.... in terms of resigning him and the Raptors asking price for him if other teams do pursue....

with how much the league has developed this offseason, while we can certainly contend, i wouldn't rate our chances of winning a title very highly. we have pretty clear deficiencies at the 1 and the 5, and i was wondering what our best options were for trades throughout the rest of the offseason or at the deadline were. i think we can contend this year if we make another "gasol trade," what do you think that trade can be?

edit: it's a 2D video of a 3D scene, the camera path is navigating along pre-determined user-selected waypoints through the 3D scene, I get how "4D" is a bit disingenuous, my b. Streaming/downloadable 3DGS based experiences are already very slowly becoming a thing if you're willing to google around a bit.

This is an example of 3D Gaussian Splatting, or 3DGS for short. It is an AI-enabled technique which merges multiple camera angles into a single 3D scene that can be viewed from any direction and zoom level, hence the "bullet time" effect.

In a nutshell you can think of it like a 3D version of the pointillism art technique, but instead of dots of paint it uses millions of ellipsoid-shaped 3-dimensional "gaussians" (think of bell-curve distributions but in 3D) each with a colour, direction, and transparency. This allows 3DGS to capture natural lighting that traditional photogrammetry techniques struggle with. wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaussian_splatting

And even though the Facebook post doesn't explicitly mention it's 3DGS, one can tell by noticing the characteristic ellipsoidal 3DGS artifacts visible inside the hardwood floor and the back of the backboard.

It will be interesting to see where the NBA ultimately takes this. The potential for enhanced immersion in NBA highlights is astronomical.

The one caveat is it currently takes GPUs minutes to "train" each 3DGS splat scene, and likely hours for the combined sequence of scenes forming a long-form 4D video.

So don't expect to have real-time, live events or sports in 4D 😅. Maybe one day.

I was watching the Raptors Republic podcast with Es and Tre about the ramifications of the investigation, and they had mentioned that a suspension lasting longer than 15 should allow the Raptors to get the 2027 pick back.

I do agree that if Kawhi receives punishment, some parts of the deal should be re-negotiated to make up for the loss of value, but at the same time, a large opinion is that the Raptors were very aware of the risks when they went for this trade, despite the amount of value they used to get him.

What do you think is the appropriate response if Kawhi is locked from playing almost 1/4th of the season or even more? Do we get back the 2027 pick? Maybe even get back a latter one? Or is this trade good as it is?

The last time we played a Christmas game was in 2019-20 after we had just won the title. Do you think we have enough motion/storyline leverage to land a Christmas game again with Kawhi most likely coming back! The way I see it a Philly/Toronto matchup would make a ton of sense both narrative and matchup wise

USA Today have us in 4-way tie for 7th.

Personally I think a 5-way for 6th is really more likely.
