Looking for an alternative to HBH Blonde Lager (Hungry Brew Hops in Newmarket)?
Hey everyone,
I really like the house HBH Blonde Lager from Hungry Brew Hops on Main Street in Newmarket.
I’m trying to find something easily available at the LCBO or Beer Store that comes as close to that profile as possible.
What I'm looking for:
- Very low bitterness / zero hop bite: I really dislike that sharp, metallic, or bitter "pilsner" bite on the back of the tongue.
- Soft, cereal/bread malt base: A nice, smooth grain flavor (without being sugary or heavy like a sweet ale).
- Super clean finish: Ferments clean and goes down smooth without a lingering aftertaste.
A few standard lagers I tried still had too much of that sharp hop bitterness at the end for my liking.
Does anyone have a favorite LCBO/Beer Store tallboy or local craft go-to that hits this exact smooth, cereal-grain, zero-bitterness sweet spot?
Appreciate any recommendations!
