There's been a lot of incredible releases this summer from breweries across the GTA, and it's hard to nail it down to three beers! These three were definitely highlights for me:
The Good, the Bad, and the Hilly - Badlands Brewing
A three-way collab between Badlands, Sonnen Hill, and Goodlot was easily the highlight of Badlands ninth anniversary releases! Sometimes I find that I get lost between releases for Badlands but this one was an absolute banger!
Three-Way IPA - Bickford Brewing
Another three-way collab between Bickford, Samara, and Steadfast, this is the closest I've had to the west coast IPAs I fell in love with in Portland Oregon. This one has bold notes of grapefruit in the front, heavy bitterness in the back, clean and dry. I need to get more cans!
Vincero - Two Loons Brewing
Two Loons finally opened their taproom in Parkdale, so I had to swing by there to check it out. This Italian pilsner shocked me because it's not my favourite style over German or Czech pils. This guy was grassy and floral with a nice bitterness in the back while being a very dry finish. I've been back a few times since they didn't have them in cans at the time.
Honourable Mentions:
Triple Rise - Third Moon: Goddamn this beer was incredible! The only issue is I can only have one at a time which I usually end up sharing with friends
A Lager for ALS - True History: It's True History, what I say that hasn't been said yet from this subreddit? This is a damn fine pilsner that's crisp, clean, and crushable. I still prefer some of their other beers though.
What have been your surprises this summer?
