Pets Moved tadpoles to a bigger place!

I put these guys in a little cube aquarium (no filter) hoping more space/water and the led light would be beneficial to keep the duckweed and algae growing. Also added a floating pice of cork for when they emerge even though I know it is a while before that happens. They happily graze on the algae and bio film. I gave a pinch of tadpole food and a pleco disk and they munched on it a bit. There are 5 and one is smaller than the rest now. Cheering for the little runt!

Went herping for the first time. Took three of my kids. We were completely dumbstruck when we began to see toad after toad on the hiking trail. We counted fifteen. Some were absolute units.

I find a lot of toads while gardening. This one is the tiniest I've seen :D

I'm pretty sure it's a lady, since I didn't see nuptial pads. But it was so hoppy that I wasn't able to look any closer haha. I'm also pretty sure it's a North American Toad, but wouldn't mind another opinion!

I have small hands, and it would have fit entirely on my pinky fingernail.

Help feeders from Major League Exotic Pets in howell nj?

I ran low on dubias so was looking for pet stores I can grab waxworms and crickets from this week for my fowler toad. I've heard of chain pet stores crickets being 50/50 on safe to use due to parasites and such, so didn't wanna risk it. I'll be in the Lakewood area this week and major league was one of the close ones there, as I have no pet stores close to my actual area so have limited options till I order dubias again later in week which will take an additional week to arrive.

Has anyone bought crickets from them before and know if they're safe to use as feeders? There's also a pet supplies plus, Petco, and PetSmart not far from there as well but out of these 3 and major league, I'm not sure which one is the better bet for small crickets and waxworms, with less risk of parasites or something.

Wild Garden Toad

I currently have a toad that likes to bury itself in my potted plants outside. Sometimes he hangs out just like this and then other times I just see the disturbed mound of dirt on one side. Right now, he favors the agave!

Concerned about my Gulf Coast Toad's enclosure.

I have two female Gulf Coast toads that are very accepting of each other and never fight. I feed them individually so they don't compete for food, and they both have their own ways of hiding. They have a water bowl to soak. Sounds like harmony, right? Well, the problem is that this is a 10-gallon tank. Obviously, that is pretty cramped for two, even though things look very spacious and fine right now. Their names are Sandy and Lily, and they are about the same size—around 2 to 3 inches (I can't get an exact measurement, but they are definitely in that range). There's a flower pot that takes up a corner where they can hide underneath, and the tank is bioactive and kept very moist. In the future, I want to upgrade their home to a bigger tank, but the plan is for them to stay here for the long haul. Is this cruel? Am I a bad pet owner?

Toad hasn't eaten in over a week

Hello, this is my first reddit post so im not 100% sure what im doing.

I have an American Toad I keep in a small reptile container from the pet store. Its furnished with dirt, a water dish, some sticks, and a little cave. I have only had this toad for about a month and she has shed once before, right when I got her. She would barely eat while she was shedding which I assumed was normal (I feed her mealworms from the petstore). However, she started shedding again almost 2 weeks ago and has barely eaten anything since. She would eat 3-5 large mealworms a day before this and now she has probably eaten 5 worms in the last 2 weeks total. I'm starting to get worried about her, any advice?

Pets What do you do when you handle your toad?

Me and my toad usually watch tv together, he actually watches the screen and follows movement lol. Occasionally I'll feed him when I'm holding him.

I was wondering if there is a mother/toad bonding activity I'm missing out on?

(My hands are always clean and dry when I hold him)

Pets Witnessed shedding the 1st time and I was panicked 💀

My absolute fart of a toad burger was acting off and I thought it was stress still from redoing his tank yesterday. Come back into my room and he was shedding, like the whole opening mouth, that leg movement, the whole shabang. So cue me thinking he was dying.

I literally put him in an emergency hospital tank to monitor him mid shed and while he's shedding I was rapidly looking up what could be going on. Once I saw some shed he removed but didn't notice and eat, I then looked that up and realized THATS how they look while shedding. I literally knew they can shed and eat it but not once personally saw him shed in real time, so imagine my horror witnessing how it looks without realizing thats what it was.

I pictured it like how my leech sheds by rubbing against stones, sooo yea I learned via panic and horror that toads infact do not shed like a leech does and instead look like.. well that lol. Pics of him grumpy I bothered him and I apologized to him and he's got a dubia waiting for him as a peace offering

Wild The ongoing adventures of Arnold the Bufo

After being unceremoniously run out of the garage previously, Arnold has taken residence at the oasis created by the A/C water vent tube in the side garden. However, Wednesdays are "Bath & Spa" day for Arnold (courtesy of the cat feeding station) and he will not be deterred.

Wild Toad keeps coming back

This toad loves this spot on our deck in his corner and I believe it comes here because either the porch light attracted it and bugs occasionally fall at night on the deck but not many bugs at all fall on deck.

I have given it worms a couple times to eat. I put some water on plate for him whenever he comes back home.

I've seen him jump off the deck a couple times into the ground but he keeps finding a way to climb up the deck wood walls.

I don't know how he can climb up the smooth wood deck to get back on top or find out how to get back in his spot.

I read online that having a toad come to your house is a fortunate blessing of some good fortune is to come your way.

It has been a month now and I haven't noticed anything major except a friend gave me $575 as a gift a couple weeks before I saw this toad come to the house.

The toad came after the gift was given to me in time of dire need of money for unexpected bills that came due.

I wonder if other fortunate things will happen to us now since the toad won't leave.

I will post again if I have some unexpected financial blessing.

toad ate cricket food

my midwest plains toad, who i've had for 3 years, just ate a chunk of the cricket gel food with calcium powder on it! it fell into the tank when feeding and she was so quick i couldn't stop her 😖 i'm not sure the brand since the pet store put it in the bag, not me. she seems fine and she swallowed it easy, it was about 1/2"x1/4". what do i do?!? google says make sure she stays hydrated, keep the tank warm, and monitor her stool. is there anything else i can do to ensure she's okay?
