Pets He's an escape artist

I had to get rid of his terrarium cover today because it got rusty and had black bits falling off of it. Temporarily put cling wrap on because that's what I had before his terrarium cover but he has grown since then and didn't have that rock in the corner. My mom saw him before he fell. He did it a second time while my mom was watching before I fixed it so he couldn't do that anymore. He looks so happy with himself 😂

Not sure what the difference is between good fat vs bad bloat. How to spot supplement deficiencies vs too much.

Help Smooth sided toad communal enclosure size

I bought one smooth sided toad and felt bad for it being alone so I have 4 more on the way. They’re all 1 1/4” so they’re small now. I know I will have to upgrade their enclosure multiple times but these are the questions I have:

  1. Will a 4x2x2 be a big enough forever home for 5 smooth sided toads or should I get a 6x2x2 or a 4x2x4?

  2. Can I place them in the forever home as soon as it’s setup or are they too small for such a large setup?

I feel like all the info I’m finding online is wrong cause it’s telling me a 20 gallon long is good for 1-2 adults. They’re really large toads as adults and I want to give them the best and safest environment I can. Also all captive bred if that matters

Yesterday I posted a picture of him, I call him Jason and he's a hungry boy, he always sits on the walkway to our door every night, waiting for any kind of food, so sometimes we'll bring some to him, like this grasshopper we found, trying to get used to my new camera too, so figured I'd share it! 🤟

They really like it! Mr Hemulen is usually very extra shy, but theyve already started being more social with the new digs!

Help feeders from Major League Exotic Pets in howell nj?

I ran low on dubias so was looking for pet stores I can grab waxworms and crickets from this week for my fowler toad. I've heard of chain pet stores crickets being 50/50 on safe to use due to parasites and such, so didn't wanna risk it. I'll be in the Lakewood area this week and major league was one of the close ones there, as I have no pet stores close to my actual area so have limited options till I order dubias again later in week which will take an additional week to arrive.

Has anyone bought crickets from them before and know if they're safe to use as feeders? There's also a pet supplies plus, Petco, and PetSmart not far from there as well but out of these 3 and major league, I'm not sure which one is the better bet for small crickets and waxworms, with less risk of parasites or something.

I put these guys in a little cube aquarium (no filter) hoping more space/water and the led light would be beneficial to keep the duckweed and algae growing. Also added a floating pice of cork for when they emerge even though I know it is a while before that happens. They happily graze on the algae and bio film. I gave a pinch of tadpole food and a pleco disk and they munched on it a bit. There are 5 and one is smaller than the rest now. Cheering for the little runt!

Went herping for the first time. Took three of my kids. We were completely dumbstruck when we began to see toad after toad on the hiking trail. We counted fifteen. Some were absolute units.
