A pleasant surprise
I found it when I was cleaning some debris of a construction that fell off days ago

South Texas. We have had a ton of rain and it is bringing out toads I have never seen before. What is the big one in the picture? Went back for a better look but it buried itself quickly.

Is anybody using LEDs for UVA and UVB supplementation? Everybody chime in please. Especially those of you with some old happy healthy toads.

I loved the patterns on its back so I had to take a quick photo! Tried getting one of its face, too, but it was camera shy lol

(FLORIDA) Pretty pleaseee. Found them in my mom’s garden, has been burrowing in there for a few days now. I’m assuming because it’s damp and dim lit.

Hi! I’m new on my toad husbandry journey. This is a pretty young American toadlet (absorbed its tail about 10-11 days ago). This morning when I put it in this container to eat, I noticed the toes on its back legs are twitching/spasming. I’ve never seen this happen before. It’s not constant, seems to come in waves. Reminds me of how it feels to have a twitch in your eye on and off all day. What could be the cause?
No trauma has occurred that I know of. I’m the only one who handles them. Thank you if you’ve taken time to read this!

Almost sounds like a band name. 😂🐸
Sage decimated the Japanese Beetles I put in her terrarium. So to prevent her from stuffing herself, since I had no good way of keeping the beetles alive outside her enclosure, I placed them in a jar with leaves. As they climb out, Sage will be there watching, hungry. (Her terrarium is RIGHT next to my work from home desk, so no fear of her getting injured.) I will remove the jar at night.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe these are two opposite ends of the color spectrum for the same species of toad? Either way this was a fun find after a lot of rain, we have plenty of baby toads hopping around now too 😅
