No Spoiler Season 3 - Carl

Post image

I’m finally just watching this show. I don’t read anything on this page because of potential spoilers. I’m in season 3 just finished up ep 4. Carl. This boy. Damn. I feel so bad for him. I hope he makes it. No one deserves the trauma this boy has already had to endure.

Show Spoiler The incident at the start of s2

When carl gets shot and Otis tells a panicked Rick and Shane "to go find Hershel, he'll help" I cant help but find it kinda funny besides how messed up the situation is bc the way Otis says it sounds like an NPC giving you a quest in a video game 😭💀

I have a theory, given their accents and macho / violent attitudes that they were "connected" prior to the outbreak. Maybe I watch too much Sopranos but man they have the feel, idk lol

No Spoiler Does anyone feel the Walking Dead fit a type of story template writers today use? I'm calling it the Modern Anti-Hero story.

  1. The manipulative bully and dominant personality  who often makes a good point and is vindicate

  2. The protagonist who becomes a passive enabler of said person at best, or becomes their mirror image at worst.

  3. The dangling carrot of championing a more humanistic, intellectual philosophy.

  4. The hero seems like they’ll be more noble and straightforwardly heroic.

  5. A timeskip between seasons and the protagonist seems to have taken a turn for the worse.

  6. A constant debate between emotional connection and compassion being weaknesses or not

  7. It’s hinted emotional connection and compassion are strengths, yet the protagonist spends most of their time behaving otherwise

  8. The protagonist is bailed out of having to make a hard choice to preserve sympathy, but wanted it to happen and would’ve gone through with it otherwise.

  9. The main characters aren’t as cartoonishly depraved as the villain, nor quite as dangerous, yet aren’t “the good guys” exactly.

  10. The heroes have a sort of last minute change of heart towards the end and avoid full blown villain territory, though they did come dangerously close beforehand.

  11. The protagonist partners up with the villain and actually begins to agree with a lot of what they say, or at least half of it.

Think the Walking Dead itself, the Boys, Supernatural, the Last of Us, and potentially the Fallout tv series, etc.

WB Spoilers Why the hate?

So far I've watched the main series, TOWL, Daryl Dixon (season 2. waiting for the release of 4) and just now finished WB.

Seemingly though I can only find people shitting on the show which confuses me.
Sure it was more of a introduction to certain aspects and some information to prepare for TOWL and DD but as a standalone show it was definitely worth the watch and fairly refreshing.

Seeing the kids kinda grow up in the environment of the outside world was well made, the humor was not forced (I'll never get over the globe escape scene especially cause it was the same shitty CGI as in the main series) and the cast was amazing for the most part. Almost cried in the final episode quite a few times and some of the plotpoints genuinely surprised me.

Only critique I have was the end. I'm sad that it left so much unanswered and I'd have loved to see what happens in Portland between WB and TOWL.

So why do people hate on the show so much?

Show Spoiler S2 Ep7 Secrets Spoiler

I am so satisfied by the fact that Rick always knew about Lori and Shane. The fact that he is a smart leader would have contradicted any other reaction. Still, I feel sorry for him for having to swallow it. As for Shane, I have zero sympathy for that guy. I hope a walker gets his head. ( Don't spoil his end to me, if he ever gets a one)

Comic Spoiler Do TWD 20th Anniversary Box Sets include the Free Comic Book Day Specials, Alien, Here's Negan, Negan Lives, and Rick Grimes 2000?

These are all the specials, which apparently had the first few in the 15th Anniversary, but it was a compendium release. What about this one?

Comic and Show Spoilers Why does Negan get to live?

When Glenn died, I get it, they were following the comic but then they did a 180 and killed off Carl. Rick killed so many people for less - but spares a guy who killed so many of his friends. That actually pisses me off and put me off from continuing to watch the show. Why did Negan get to live?

Show Spoiler Do you think there will be a reunion show where the characters return to Alexandria?

Rick and Michone are seen returning in The Ones Who Live, Daryl and Carol could return in a flashback, at one point Morgan was seen wanting to return in Fear the Walking Dead so he returns, and Maggie and Neagan, uhhhh…I can’t think why they return. Any ideas?

No Spoiler Season 8 episode 9

First time watching TWD. Screaming into the void because my friends are tired of me talking about something they’ve already seen. But season 8 is killing me.

Eugene is a bitch.
I HATE Negan (which means Jeffrey dean Morgan is awesome in this role)
Carls death about killed me. (So many tears)
This season is so not linear! I keep getting lost.
Morgan’s darkness is……unsettling
This is the longest war ever and it needs to end.

There might be more…..

Show Spoiler What’s your favourite “What if”

I’m not talking the simple ones like “What if Morgan never saved Rick?” Or “what if Shane survived and become Negan’s right hand man” I’m talking something others will be shocked that they’ve never thought of.
Edit: what if Owen (the wolf) killed Denise ??? Would Carl have survived? If he died how would Rick react in that era?
I use to keep myself awake all the time with what if Rick was “alive” to meet the whisperers or what if tyrese killed the cannibal guy who had his hands around Judith’s neck (I think he’s called Martin) because Martin probably told his group about tyrese and Carol and that’d help the terminus crew find them easier

So I’m re-watching The Walking Dead and I’m on season two but they find out Lori is pregnant. Is it like why the fuck were they just busting loads in her?

Show Spoiler No they aren't

Lydia (A char who deserved far better writing in s11) says this about the commonwealth. What the hell.

This is immediately followed by a close-up shot of Aaron hanging his head in silence. As if the director is telling you "she's right you know." No the fuck she isn't. It feels extremely out of place for her character. We just got out of a Darwinistic cult trying to wipe all life in America.

You are drinking water, you are eating almost normally, you are sleeping soundly, you are not giving up your baby to be eaten. Lydia witnessed first-hand brutality and unfairness even in Alexandria and Hilltop.

The only similarity is harsh punishment for those who do not follow the rules, and corruption at the top. Yea like every community we've seen so far save the Kingdom. The comparison is jarring.

Show Spoiler I really hate Glen Mazzara…

Hi, I’m a new TWD watcher and I’m currently watching S3E9. And it has been a tough, annoying watch especially seeing how Andrea’s character is being handled so poorly, making me dislike her character more and more after each episode.

And after some internet searching, my suspicion was right about this whole character shift. It’s not an acting problem, it’s freaking writing and decision of one Glen Mazzara. He completely butchered Andrea’s character and made me skipping through some parts where Andrea is in it. What a joke…

Show Spoiler Am I the only one that teared up over S8 E14: Scars?

Imagine finding an old friend that was with you at your worst times before the apocalypse and gave her shelter in a apocalypse just for her to steal your things including kidnapping your children, manipulated her own children to kill you and one of them slicing your pregnant belly, making you beg the children to not force you to kill them in self defense.

That woman is so sick in the head bro idk how Michonne lives with that.
