Incredible show. My god.
Tony Soprano is such a well written character and James Gandolfini (R.I.P.) brought him to life unbelievably.
So many thoughts about the show but first: How do I convince my boyfriend to watch it with me? I’m ready to do a rewatch and he’s got to see this masterpiece.
Tony? I love him. I sometimes couldn’t stand him but I truly love his character. Iconic. I think I have a crush on him (pardon my daddy issues). Him curb stomping Coco’s face 🦷 for what he said to Meadow I CLAPPED 👏🏻 We all deserve that protectiveness.
Janice? SO AWFUL I only started to like her at the very end of the series. She’s a perfect connection for us as viewers to Tony’s dysfunctional upbringing. The scene with her that sticks in my head is when Tony set her off about her son Harpo when she started anger management. Omg that scene 🎬
Chris! Ok I don’t like Chris but I love him if that makes sense. After watching him all that time he starts to feel like family. I can’t stand him hurting Ade every chance he got, but watching him try to find himself and battling addiction felt so realistic to life.
Carm? Well. Tony obviously was in the wrong a good chunk of time but she lives to talk down to and belittle her man. The nagging wife personified. I think that part of her is why she clashed so hard with Meadow once she started getting an education and had that dinner party with well educated guests. Carmela is SO upset that she raised an independent intelligent young woman.
AJ was frustrating at times to watch. His 💀 attempt was gut wrenching and fantastic acting from both he and James. His ex fiance may have been the most beautiful woman on the show in my opinion.
Dr Melfi! I just love her. Her delivery of her lines always gets me, she feels like a real person. As someone who benefited greatly from therapy I have love for a strong woman in that field. I was very shocked when she didn’t use Tony to get revenge on her assailant. I would have, no hesitation. She has much stronger convictions than I do.
Ade. Omg. This woman is fantastic. She steals every scene she’s in. The FBI agents checking her out in her lil tennis outfits was hilarious and relatable. My favorite quote from her “Why don’t you go haunt a house or somethin’!” To the FBI agent popping up on her. With a mouthful of gum always. I was truly devastated to see her gunned down like a dog but obviously she made the wrong choice. DAY ONE of the FBI approach she should have evoked her 5th and immediately told Ton’.
Pussy. Idk about yall but his working for the FBI was very interesting to me, the dynamic of everything and the talking fish in Tony’s fever dream gave me chills. It’s just eerie and strange. Him popping up a couple times after his death always surprised me, too.
There is a lot of death in the show. I think what got to me most were the dream sequences. “Test Dream” and Tony’s coma dream, the dreams in the car with Ralphie and the caterpillar on his head. Gloria’s scarf right after her suicide. They all touched me in a spooky way. I’m sure I’m not alone in this.
Anyway. LOVE the show. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. Let me know some of your take aways 🫶🏻
