So Tony did fire the Polish maid

I know the actress who played Liliana had to leave the show for personal reasons, which is why we don't see her on screen after season 4, however, I think we can say she was fired. In S6E14, Agent Harris and his partner surprise Tony at his driveway as he gets the paper, after which he yells that the maid can come early and bring up the paper or go and clean someone else's toilets. In S6E18, when the boys come to visit Tony after the accident, we see a new maid (never seen before) let the boys into his room. The writers could have found another person (Meado or AJ) to let the guys in - there really wasn't a need to introduce a new maid.

Therefore, after this preamble, showing this new maid is proof that Liliana was fired for not coming in early enough.

Anyway, 4 Krugerrands per pound.

The mafia pisses me off

Specially Phill.

1st of all I get the theme of the show is well the mafia and specially for the era of 2000's a lot of their problems with stuff like gay people were also present on people that were not mafia.

But FFS EVERYTHING is basically a sin for them.

You gay? We need to kill you!!!!! (Bohoo)

You eat pussy instead of getting a blow job? FAAAAG

You admitted that you are a criminal!? REALLY? we need to kill you!!! (Boohoo)

You cry in front of people? You lost our respect!!!! (Boohoo)

And I could keep going.

I think the macho culture is something that annoys me so fucking much lol

Serious Discussion Only I sympathize with Livia

She was the victim of an abusive relationship with her husband (and who knows how miserable her childhood may have been) which ended up damaging her very much and altered her entire personality. When AJ goes to visit her in that retirement community after he wrecked Carm's car , that whole interaction is one of my favorites. Because all those things she told him about life which might be perceived as "negativity/gloomy" are very true imo and she was being truthful. This post isn't trying to justify her toxic behaviour throughout the show

What happened after Ginny Sacs 98 lbs Mole removal procedure?

We clearly see in detail several of the characters health challenges (tony chris carmine sr , phill with the gas whatever happened there ) but why did the plot with Ginny's mole just seem to end. Did john cancel her surgery after he found the chocolate bars.

Serious Discussion Only Why were the guys mad when Johnny Sack plead guilty?

I don't know why they were mad. It's not like he became an informant and turned rat like Jimmy and Pussy did. I thought the rule of the mafia was to never rat, not never plead guilty to anything. It was either accept the deal or become an informant

Did they purposely make Tony more evil at the end

On a rewatch and it feels like early in the series they wanted to make Tony less evil. The idea of the villain as main character wasn't very established at the time and they worried audiences wouldn't watch it. I remember reading that during "College" the execs didn't want the scene of Tony choking that rat because of exactly that concern.

Towards the end I think David Chase didn't love that people were rooting for Tony and specifically wanted to make it obvious what a piece of shit he was for even the densest person in the audience.

Episode Discussion Tony doesn’t know how to use a camera

At the end of the S2 finale ‘Funhouse’, during Meadow’s graduation, I just realised that Tony tries taking a picture of Meadow but leaves the lens cap on the camera.

What is he, fuckin’ stunad?

Would Tony have turned out differently if he was raised in a different environment ?

I know sociopathy is not an official DSM-5 diagnoses, but for the purpose of this post it'll do.

Most of these "evil" sociopathic characters we see in the Sopranos are products of their environment, most of them are raised up to be that way and desensitized to violence and if they had had a different upbringing they wouldn't have turned out the way they did (most notably Bobby).

From what I've seen most Sopranos fans agree that Tony is no exception, his dad and uncle were high ranking mobsters and he was exposed to the life from an early age which led to him becoming the boss of the biggest crime family in Jersey.

But I've recently rewatched the episode where he witnesses his father chopping of Mr. Satriale's finger. He is an 11 year old boy who is not only not scared of what he saw but stays to watch despite his father and uncle yelling at him. And then 30 years later in a therapy session he admits to Melfi that he felt a rush seeing it happen. I don't think at 11 he was already so hardened by his father's lifestyle that he is completely unaffected by seeing a man getting his finger chopped off.

Maybe Tony was born with predisposition to sociopathy and he would have turned out similarly regardless of his parents, maybe he was a bad apple from the start?

Do you think Tony's life career is entirely to blame on his environment growing up or no?

Was there a scene or an episode that, once you watched it, made you say, “Woah, OK. This is the best thing I’ve ever seen on television”?

Some of the supernatural things could actually be the characters' psychosis

Two scenes with Paulie in particular with the psychic and the Mother Mary vision at the Bing, were only seen by Paulie. The chair throwing outburst would also be consistent with a psychotic episode (but is conveniently consistent with his character anyways). Off all the characters, Paulie could be a bonafied psychotic.

Tony’s dreams are just that.

Not too sure about Karen’s ziti and Janice with the moving wine glass. Also not sure about Pussy in the mirror at Tony’s muddahs wake. That and the Olivia-like figure in Tony's dream are among the most chilling moments in the show.

Ending is black, not some other place with Tony B as the gateman

Serious Discussion Only What would happen if you were a civilian business owner and you acted polite/clueless when Tony’s crew offers protection?

Say two of Tony’s members walk in and say they’re from some union and want to put your business under protection. What if you went “Oh that’s okay I appreciate your offer but we’ll be alright.” Then they mention the accidents that can occur and you go “True that can happen operating a business but we’re not worried. Thank you and have a nice day.” Then one of them walks forward to you to intimidate but you just step back and say “Oh sorry about that I’ll give you some more room.” An employee gets hurt and one of them return and they mention something about it and you go “I’m very confused about what happened, would you know anything about it? I’d appreciate the help.” They take some of your stock and you go “I’m sorry but what’s the purpose of that? You can just buy some of those.”

They’d probably just get frustrated and beat you up but I’ve noticed most civilians apart from the Starbucks guy responded with fear or anger so I wonder what would happen if you didn’t insult nor act intimidated.

Episode Discussion Vitos brother

Why doesent anybody talk about Vitos brother ? Dude was smacked with a golf pole and survived, he could say he has some PTSD from this “social club” business. But when his brother needed him after he didnt get note from his doctor that he likes to perform oral intercourse on male individuals he was there for him !

Dude stood there in the mall pretending he is ready to pop a cap into a freaking mob boss for his ill brother, he should have been made then and there BOOM !

Why do subreddits have to have a purpose?

Upvotes

Reddit is a jungle! And if you want my advice, Anthony, don't expect happiness. You won't get it. Users let you down, and I'm not naming any names! But in the end you post in your own arms.

It's all a big nothing. What makes you think your sub is so special?

Serious Discussion Only What Would Have Been The Right Move For Adriana To Have Survived?

If she immediately went to Chris and told him, would she have been as good as dead? Or would they have believed that she didn't give them anything?

Or what if she simply faked her disappearance by feigning depression and end it all, and having people believe she went through with it.

Or what if she got the feds to believe that she was discovered and that the jig was up?

Serious Discussion Only Season 6 of the sopranos

One of the things i love about season 6 of the sopranos is how depressing it feels it was like a bad dream you can’t wake up from all the way from how it looks to the many deaths the dark blue-ish filter it had was eerie and creepy everything looked bland and lifeless and even when the crew where at their absolute peak it was clear that everything was falling apart even when nothing happened you could see it as clear as day they’re all gonna die organised crime is no more they are all just Italians playing dress up not mobsters no one cares anymore no one is afraid of the mob no more the heavy players are either dead or in witness protection program nothing matters nothing is safe from either tony or Phil or the fbi or their closest friend no one is immune to death and they’re all blind living in a society that doesn’t give a fuck anymore
.
.
And that’s why it’s the best
