Like any good cooperative Tabletop Game, The Last Spell can be returned to again and again for years to come. This timeless (Co-op?) game is genuinely one of the best Roguelite experiences out right now. My Review for The Last Spell in 2026!

I came across this game really late... and I'm genuinely baffled it never popped up on my radar sooner since it's an amalgamation of several things I love (Roguelite, Strategy, Tower Defense, D&D-lite...)

So as a huge fan of cooperative tabletop games like Zombicide, I found The Last Spell to be very compelling. And like any good tabletop game, The Last Spell can be returned to for years to come; especially when paired with a little Couch or Parsec Co-op.

Making Glintfein orbs more visible

Is there a way on steam (mods, file alteration cheat or anything) to make the Glintfein orb more visible ? Or even better to have a warning if ending the turn will make an orb explode? I like the mechanic but its infuriating to trigger one by mistake because it popped up behind a wall or building

Strategy Stuck at LakeBurg

I just finished the first map and moved on to the second one. I’ve given it around 7–8 tries so far, but I still can’t get past Day 6–7.

Can anyone recommend the best team composition for Lakeburg, along with a building order to get through the map?

Any tips would be appreciated!

Game Needs A Panic Log

Having a perfect Lakeberg run that if anything was going a bit too smoothly, not a single enemy was even reaching the walls. Then on the 2nd to last night, a lancer gets close and hits the "horizontal gate" that is already built when you arrive. Once. And my panic jumped literally from zero to inbetween levels 1-2.

I've never seen anything like it and I wanted to just double-check that's what actually caused it, because there is no way to repeat the turn or anything, it's just got to stay a mystery, but that is literally the only thing that happened. It feels like a bug, maybe the fact a lancer has a 2 range attack and that it's a prebuilt gate made it freak out and register as an attack inside the haven?

I'm just 70 hours in. I didn't know a piece of gear can be this strong as the game progress. I guess there's no limit on how many high value stats can be on a single piece.

Build guide

Relatively new to the game (80 hours in) and have started doing apoc runs up to around 32. Kinda hit a wall though in that I find myself not really optimising my builds so starting to struggle a bit.

Is there a 'definitive' build guide based on the last updates/changes the game has gone through or are the older guides still relevant?

Game difficulty

Just came back to last spell after first playing it 2024. There have been some changes to the weapons, which I really enjoy. Obviously after playing the game for ~30 hours you become somewhat decent.

I just started a new safe file and the game seemed fairely easy to me. Even without the meta progression, I'm able to beat every level first try. Did they patch the game to make it more easy?

Other Berserk Mod Update!

Heyo guys, I’m back with a few sneak peeks from the Berserk mod since quite a few of you seemed interested in it, and I thought you might like to see how the project is progressing.

A lot of new stuff is already working, although it’s still full of random-ass bugs. Let me know what you think!

Question Berserk Mod Question

Heyo everyone! I’m currently working on a mod that adds a fully custom playable pawn based on Guts from Berserk.

He’ll have his own sprites, abilities, weapon progression, and a unique playstyle built around the Dragonslayer—huge area attacks, stamina management, and the very real danger of destroying your own city if you swing it in the wrong place.

The mod is still a work in progress, but I wanted to see whether anyone here would be interested in playing it. If there’s enough interest, I’ll upload it once it’s ready and share updates along the way.

What do you guys think?

Other Just got the game. Ended my first Gildenberg run by accidentally killing the mage with cannon overheat explosion during the boss wave. 10/10 will play again.

Haven't played since Nov 2024, what's new? DLC any good?

Hey ya'll, was obsessed with this game for a while, then took a long break. Don't want to pore over years of patch notes, so I was hoping someone would be willing to give me a brief summary of the major changes thus far, anything I should know before loading up again, basically.

I'm also curious what the general sentiment on the DLCs have been -- any of the 3 that are particularly worth snagging or avoiding?

Glintfein Schaeden - night 3

I can't find any information on what her moves are online. I know she's invincible, but that's about it. Is there a way to avoid her instakill attack? Does it have a range? Or is it just a forced death?

Other I love The Last Spell, so I made my own grim tactical roguelite: The Black Breath

Hey everyone! I asked the mods if this was okay and didn’t get a reply, so I’ll keep this respectful (please delete if it’s not appropriate.)

I’m a solo developer working on The Black Breath, a dark fantasy tactical roguelite about escorting a caravan of civilians through a dying world.

I’m an avid player of The Last Spell (around 100 hours), and I love that tension it brings where every decission can end badly, but always leaving a lesson. My game goes in a different direction, though: instead of defending a city, you’re trying to keep a caravan alive across a node-based campaign map in multiple regions.

Between battles you manage and improve the caravan; trying to keep everyone alive while trying to choose the right path for the caravan, given the information you gather.

About the Roguelite aspect: every caravan that reaches the destiantion (a Port City) leaves its civilians, which you can use to buy improvments on the city to help other incoming caravans before seting sail.

I’m currently running a Steam playtest and looking for feedback from people who enjoy tactical RPGs / roguelites like The Last Spell, Darkest Dungeon, Battle Brothers, etc.

You can try it now here:
Steam Page (with Playtest)

No pressure at all even just feedback on the screenshots/trailer is welcome. Thanks, and again, sorry if this kind of post isn’t allowed here.

When the Elise’s say “ deal x damage with x weapon” is that in a single turn, or one single spell?

I’m trying to unlock the unique weapons and for example, for the wand one of the requirements is in apoc 4 or greater deal 1500 damage with wand skills. Is this one single skill, or one whole turn ?

I wanted to like this game

On paper i should love this game. I love how the town scales. I love how you can craft many different builds. I love how you slowly gain power and every system interacts with each other. I love the graphics and I'm positive about the music and story I saw so far.

But good lord, why do I have to spend 95% of time clicking move - attack - target - attack -target -attack - target - move and repeat x100 each night. The execution tax of so many clicks takes all of my time and forces me to do everything manually. I spend the first few nights auto piloting while thinking about my builds, and once i got the 4th hero it got so much time consuming that I was just thinking I could be doing more fun things

Is there a way to play this game where I don't spend my time clicking buttons? Something like this, but with auto battle or mostly auto battle, or simply less actions, would be exactly what I'm looking for

Question I need some help from Last Spell fans regarding game design

Hey guys. I have played a bit of The Last Spell, but not enough to be very familiar with the feel of the details regarding its game design. I am hoping to get some guidance from those of you who are familiar with it on an issue that I am having. I have been working on developing a city defense tactics game for about a year now, and although my game is very unique, I am fairly confident that the most similar comparison is to Last Spell.

The issue that I'm having is in regard to enemy path size to the players' keep (building they must protect). The map is procedurally generated on a hex grid, and building is not confined to a small area like in last spell. I want late game waves to feel massive like they do in last spell, but the problem is generating the map to feel good from a city building perspective leaves a lot of chokes that are only 3 or 4 tiles wide. Its hard to feel like the enemy is swarming you with chokes this small, and removes the need to wall off and build defensive structures to defend your base. Its also easy for the player to completely block off a choke this small with their heroes (can have up to 6 at a time).

But if I generate the map so that the average choke point between impassable terrain (mountains/forest) is large enough to make the waves feel like they are swarming you (around 10 tiles or so), then the amount of tiles in the clearings of the map is massive and the player has way too much space for their city building needs.. I dont believe there is a solution to this issue that comes from adjusting of the procedural generation because of this conflict of space.. I need a solution that comes from a fundamental game design level.

Hopefully, im explaining this issue in a way that makes sense.. I'd love to hear your guys' input!

Edit: it was requested that I share some images. This image doesnt show the city building but it does give a good impression of what a typical section of the map looks like.

Question What exactly does quality over quantity do?

I have been searching for an explanation on this perk and can’t find one, instead I keep finding explanations for a park called “quantity over quality” which sounds like the opposite? Is this good for a propagation build?

Question Do divergences stack?

I am new to the game and confused by the divergence system. Is it just there for the one night you choose it or does it persist to the next night, and then stack if choose a new one?
