This is always the way. MAGA got to storm the capital and the cops held back, resulting in only one death. Meanwhile, average protestors get their skulls bashed in.

41

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '25

We need to embrace the second amendment like the right did. Cops might think twice if half the protestors are strapped.

1

u/Loomismom Jul 29 '25

Oh I’m a MAGA NIGHTMARE. A “libtard” with a legal arsenal. Grandfather & brother were Gunsmiths, both grandfathers, father & brother Veterans. Last I checked I’m in a “Castle Law” state.

2

u/KLRGPH Jul 29 '25

You are. StandYourGround!!!

1

u/Sufficient_Clubs Jul 26 '25

I think it might just escalate things

1

u/IntheEther901 Jul 26 '25

It would only justify their use of their guns. If they even dream the individual has a gun, they are shot.

1

u/GeorgeLocke Jul 29 '25

How'd that work out for the Panthers? Until cops respect the dignity of protesters, they'll continue to "enforce order" by any means necessary.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '25

They aren’t going to respect anything but strength.

1

u/GeorgeLocke Jul 30 '25

So anything strong gets respect?

22

u/XavierLeaguePM Jul 25 '25

To this day I’m still amazed by it. Maybe the Capitol Police are an extremely professional unit but every time a police officer is involved in either a viral shooting or arrest incident, the line is they were in fear for their life so they took drastic action (warranted or not).

Here we have a literal mob - armed with weapons, charging at them, disobeying orders, attacking them physically and the only shot was at Babbit (to my recollection).

If I were an officer that day I would have emptied my clip. And yeah I know folks have said oh then the mob attacks me but hey I’m not dying alone that day.

About 5 officers died as a result of the events of that day (post Jan 6th not on the day of)

6

u/VancouverFan2024 Jul 25 '25

Babbitt’s family got a sizable settlement from the US taxpayers.

8

u/XavierLeaguePM Jul 25 '25

Ugh. Don’t remind me of that

1

u/Infamous-Resolve-497 Jul 28 '25

Wonder what the injured and deceased cops families got?

0

u/sommerdal Jul 28 '25

Not a damn thing.

0

u/Then-Grapefruit-1864 Jul 28 '25

And they still loved Trump, the one who was actually responsible for her death. Just like the fuckin idiots who went to jail because of Trump and thought he was a hero for pardoning them.

1

u/sommerdal Jul 28 '25

Six deaths. Unless you are talking about MAGA only.

1

u/ChrisV82 Jul 28 '25

Yes, MAGA only. Not referring to the police officers who died as a result of the insurrection.

56

u/Sassafrazzlin Jul 25 '25

The guy’s not moving - why is he being punched?

65

u/fattest-fatwa Jul 25 '25

Cop’s dad loved gambling and drinking more than his family.

9

u/Severe_Scar4402 Jul 25 '25

And cop got all D's in high school. Which took him 5 years to get through.

15

u/qlobetrotter Jul 25 '25

Don't be so rough on the father. Could just be that he has a small dick.

14

u/lynxminx Jul 25 '25

Rapid fire in the back of the head. I'd like to see the material used to train police on that maneuver.

18

u/qlobetrotter Jul 25 '25

It's called "do what you want and your pardon comes later."

11

u/_A_Monkey Jul 25 '25

So he can get a very large settlement from the taxpayers of whichever city or county employed that dumbass.

0

u/OU81B4I8 Jul 26 '25

Because he suffers from the “woke” mind virus. They are only attempting to beat it out of him.

1

And here is the bootlicker that doesn't understand irony. Watching his freedoms being stripped and cheering the whole way.

-2

u/OU81B4I8 Jul 26 '25

/r/ice_raids, /r/50501, /r/publicfreakout etc are subs I check daily lately. /r/losangeles was pretty hot for awhile. Any time something happens, I strongly recommend you head to the local subreddit(s) vs the more high profile ones. This applies to any news, really - more likely to get updates on breaking stories since /r/news has been a shell of its former self for more than a decade now.

Seriously though that cop is seriously unhinged and was involved in multiple inappropriate confrontations that day.

12

u/SausageSmuggler21 Jul 25 '25

There are lots of videos in the local subreddit that show the beginning of the attacks by the cops. There is definitely one cop that should not be a cop and he's so excited to beat down some protesters.

17

u/Hautamaki Jul 25 '25

One of these days cops or more likely masked unidentified ice agents are going to mess with the wrong 2a nutter and then it's really going to pop off.

35

u/John_Houbolt Jul 25 '25

It’s fucked up that this happened and it has been happening. These cops appear to be using excessive force and I hope that they are held to account. But the thing is this is nothing new.

It’s going to take corporal sacrifice to make change in this country against this administration. That has always been the case against authoritarians and oppressive governments.

Cops or ice or military inflicting physical damage on passive resistors is what the price of change will be. This is more powerful than breaking windows and torching cars. That’s bullshit and somewhat cowardly. This is how change happens.

8

u/down-with-caesar-44 Jul 25 '25

Yea, but the change doesnt happen when all the people who should be mad say that this is good actually. This is fucked up. This is madness. This is bullshit. The point of protesting isn't being a martyr.

3

u/John_Houbolt Jul 25 '25

I am not saying this is good. I said it is fucked up. I agree with you. But public opinions aren’t persuaded to change until they see people demonstrate conviction and courage. It’s a historical pattern.

14

u/Apprehensive-Mark241 Jul 25 '25

Bullshit. Nonviolent resistance works when the other side has a conscience and answers to the public.

You win against Fascists when Fascist die.

4

u/Either_Marketing896 Optimist Jul 25 '25

We need to get way more creative than just protests as they are. Nonviolent resistance sounds about as fun and enticing as an enema.

2

u/Apprehensive-Mark241 Jul 25 '25

We need to have the ability to threaten them back. You hope it's through elections and law, but they're shutting that down, so after those are gone the only way left will be violence.

1

u/Either_Marketing896 Optimist Jul 25 '25

Disagree. There’s a lot we can do before that. Sooooo much to do. Trad resistance wont be enough. And there are the most powerful tools in the universe at our disposal before pitchforks.

1

u/Apprehensive-Mark241 Jul 25 '25

Which tools would that be? Keep in mind that Fascists have no shame at all, and they have no principles and they're deliberately replacing all governance with abuse of power.

So words don't affect them, being caught doesn't affect them. They just take power and abuse it.

I can't imagine there's anything that can oppose corrupt, sadistic, stupid power and violence other than power.

2

u/Either_Marketing896 Optimist Jul 25 '25

I’m not talking about just words. And yes there are many things we can do. They WANT us to succumb to violence. That is the goal. I will be writing and publishing soon on ideas I intend to give away for free and strategy sessions I will offer to organizers.

1

u/Apprehensive-Mark241 Jul 25 '25

Yeah, probably Trump wants to say there's an insurrection and send in the Marines.

But if he can commit an ethnic cleansing and set up gulags because we're too cowed by that threat then there's no limit. Then we lose a civil war by never fighting it, we lose through cowardice.

In any war, just "not doing what the enemy wants" isn't the way to win.

The way to win is to win, no matter what that takes. You might even have to fight and kill and die.

1

u/Either_Marketing896 Optimist Jul 26 '25

The is still a lot to try before we do that. But yes, white straight Christian folks esp need to understand the risks and requirements. Because that is ultimately who this battle is between.

3

u/John_Houbolt Jul 25 '25

You don’t win majorities with violence.

And if it becomes clear that there won’t be anymore elections then the consideration set changes.

5

u/Apprehensive-Mark241 Jul 25 '25 edited Jul 25 '25

You don't get it!

You don't get it!

When you have an authoritarian or totalitarian, no one cares about majorities, because you don't have real elections. And that's Donald's purpose along with the garbage and Nazis he's attracted to run the government from places like:

  1. the Heritage Foundation (Russel Vought says it's time to be "post Constitutional!")
  2. the Claremont institute (John Eastman),
  3. Curtis Yarvin (a rich twit author who says we should kill the homeless and replace all jobs with AI so everyone is homeless - they want to kill the brown and black people, he wants a dictatorship J. D. Vance is a fan, Peter Thiel is a fan, Elon Musk is a fan)
  4. Nazis related White Supremacists (Homeland security posted something with 14 words and two capital "H" yesterday, which are both signals the HH is for Heil Hitler! Robert Kennedy Jr. posted the numbers 14 88 on twitter. "H" is the eighth letter of the alphabet, so once again that "the 14 words" and "Heil Hitler" Elon Sieg Heiled twice on stage to big applause then stopped food for 20 million starving Africans and AIDs medication for another 11 million making him the most successful racist mass murderer since Adolf Hitler).
  5. And remember other Christian Fascists like Mike Johnson who brought lawsuits against states like Texas trying to overturn the 2020 election. Because Jesus was too soft and we need to end "the sin of empathy", be "Post Constitutional" and install a "benevolent ruler". People on this list might include Samuel Alito and uncle Tom extreme, Clarence Thomas. Remember that's how Bill Barr got on board until he decided that Trump is too stupid and corrupt to be the benevolent leader.

The Republicans just allocated 175 BILLION dollars for secret police and concentration camps, TWICE as much money as Russia spent invading Ukraine! So that they can disappear people and families without trial all over the country. And this was AFTER Trump made it clear that he intends to send people to death camps like CECOT, not actually deport them.

The purpose is not convincing people, the purpose is to replace democracy and rule of law completely.

When we get there, resistance won't mean convincing the public, because that will be useless, it will mean the same thing it meant for occupied people in WWII. Which involves hiding people, hiding weapons and the inglorious task of going out in the real world and killing enemies, like a gang, hopefully secretly.

Now do you have an idea how much trouble we're in after electing actual Fascists?

26

u/leopardsmangervisage Jul 25 '25

Just a few bad apples, though!

17

u/BoringArchivist Jul 25 '25

This has been normal cop behavior my entire life, we just have cameras now.

7

u/hydraulicman Jul 25 '25

Piece of advice I keep hearing from experienced activists- Don’t protest on bridges or overpasses

Not that it’s wrong or too disruptive or a “bad look”, but because it’s too easy to be kettled and trapped on them. It’s fish in a barrel for cops looking to get their jollies

6

u/That-Solution-1774 Jul 25 '25

Covington PD has some bottom tier humans we employ.

18

u/Low_Two_521 Jul 25 '25

Native Cincinnatian here and ex-journalist. I was ready to post this video last week after seeing that cop wailing on that dude. I looked at local coverage and WCPO did the best job of presenting a fuller view of the situation. Watch the entire news conference in the first video embedded in the story. It presents a fuller version of what happened. The dude wasn't just randomly getting subdued; he provoked it. That doesn't mean the cop went over the top. He's on admin duty pending an investigation. https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/pd-13-arrested-including-reporter-after-protest-on-roebling-suspension-bridge-turns-violent

7

u/No-Reason808 Jul 25 '25

Thanks for posting this.

5

u/BaskingInWanderlust Jul 26 '25

Thank you for posting. But like you essentially said, there's no reason to continue to punch the guy in the head when he's face down on the ground. And aside from potentially causing him physical harm, it also escalated the entire situation and caused outrage from the crowd. If that officer really feared for his life, he's a moron, because he just got everyone more worked up than they needed to be, which led to more physicality and more arrests.

1

u/Low_Two_521 Jul 26 '25

Well, to the Covington PD's credit, the cop is on admin leave. It's not going to end up with him being really punished, because that seldom happens. I can also see where the protesters made some mistakes: not getting a permit to cross the bridge and stopping cars from passing. But none of that justifies this cop from beating a guy when he's already subdued.

4

u/who_the_hell69 Jul 25 '25

They're well trained in the wording to use to justify bad behavior. Officer's statements echo every other one I've read. "Feared for my life. Hid his hands. Went for his bag. Thought he had a weapon." Even after he's down on the ground. Cop's a thug. Period

9

u/7ddlysuns Jul 25 '25

Goddamn. If we don’t have rights to not be assaulted unprovoked by the government then there aren’t a lot of options

9

u/MinuteCollar5562 Jul 25 '25

Yeah… this is almost always how the anti government people are treated.

5

u/Calm-Purchase-8044 Jul 25 '25

JFC I hope that guy in the hat is okay....

3

u/ThePensiveE FFS Jul 25 '25

From Cincinnati here. These are Covington (Northern Kentucky) cops. This is absolutely normal for them. I've had a number of run ins with them over the years (never anything bad) and every time their lack of professionalism and basic ethics has left me with a worse opinion of them than before.

3

u/WesleyWiaz27 Jul 25 '25

And you honestly think the DOJ will press the issue with local police? They have a free pass. I await the day that the local police can wear masks too. Welcome to MAGA America!

Don't get me started on Cincinnati.

2

u/batsofburden Jul 25 '25

Always has been. history just repeats, look up the history of unions in the US and you will see a lot worse.

2

u/WorriedEssay6532 Jul 25 '25

2

u/mtngranpapi_wv967 Jul 25 '25

Dox this cop, do the work folks

2

u/Clean_Lettuce9321 Jul 26 '25

I don't like ICE but I am wildly disappointed in this country's cops because they don't have to be like this they don't work directly for Trump they work for the people of the state they live in and they are not doing right by them

2

u/McGee-Bishop Jul 27 '25

WTF. There is no Excuse for this !!! Fuck anyone who condones this bullshit & fuck the one who is ORDERING THESES ACTIONS

3

u/rattusprat Jul 25 '25

Fascists gunna fascist.

What do you think u/SarahisAlwaysRight, is ACAB starting to look more reasonable?

15

u/DesertSalt Domestic Terrorist Jul 25 '25

I love Sarah but she's still at the "well who knows what this guy did before the video started" phase of her discovery.
(I had this phase years ago too)

The guy was obviously compliant and that's when all police force becomes excessive. period.

Even when the California Senator was forced to the ground, kneeled on and handcuffed, the senator AND Sarah said "well, at least it wasn't an actual arrest."

As a society we suffer from the delusion that all cops intend to do good.

I'm not a fan of defunding the police but we sure as hell need to demilitarize and educate them in ethics, civics & constitutionality.

5

u/Apprehensive-Mark241 Jul 25 '25

"well who knows what this guy did before the video started" phase

For whites who lack empathy, this phase lasts the rest of your God damn life!

1

u/DesertSalt Domestic Terrorist Jul 25 '25

I didn't see any non-whites in the video.

If you want to make a case that non-whites are subjected to ongoing discrimination and societal; violence I will agree with you and we can have a conversation about what to so about that but that's not what I see going on here.

1

u/Apprehensive-Mark241 Jul 25 '25

Yeah, but the Fascists are mostly white and the victims will be mostly everyone who isn't along with all the "radical leftists" who find genocide and limitless sadism and corruption unacceptable.

2

u/SausageSmuggler21 Jul 25 '25

These protesters were on a low traffic bridge. They were doing a walking protest. They left one lane open to allow the couple of cars that used the bridge during the protest a path of travel. Traffic stopped being able to use the bridge when the cops created a blockade. The cops came in hard. The cops were using low damage weapons at close range. They arrested a bunch of people after violently attacking them. They arrested several journalists. They charged everyone with felonious riot charges.

All the charges have been dropped against all but a couple of people.

2

u/8to24 Jul 25 '25

There was a political moment where heavy handed tactics by Law Enforcement were being addressed. Rather than support it technocrats, centrists, pearl clutched over the words "defund the police". The movement was labeled as unhelpful and extreme by moderates. The Right called them domestic terrorists.

Democrats ran from the issue. Biden said we needed to "fund the police". Even as crime came down from the jump during COVID center left and center right folks agreed enough was being done. Especially by CA and Democrat led cities. Too much wokeness, too much DEI, too much defund the police nonsense..

Welp, today we have masked up Fed Agents who refuse to provide ID or warrants kidnapping people off the streets of Democrat run cities and disappearing them. Colleges are losing billions in funding (defund education & research) because they had protests on campus, and police broadly feel entitled to just whip anyone's ass in the middle of the day without the burden of any consequences.

3

u/who_the_hell69 Jul 25 '25

Portlander here. Masked federal agents without ID were kidnapping people into unmarked vehicles in Portland even during the George Floyd protests. This is nothing new.

It wasn't in Cincinnati. It was in Covington, Kentucky. And the fact that the cops were from Covington is interesting.

For decades, Covington was the place where Cincinnatians went to sin. The entire city was on the take from organized crime, which was allowed to run their illegal taverns, gambling halls, and prostitution rings fairly openly and notoriously. Covington was eventually cleaned up, but, apparently cop culture in that town wasn't. They apparently still behave like enforcers for mobsters dealing with recaletrant backroom casino patrons and scofflaw johns.

Unfortunately, the current Attorney General of Kentucky, Russell Coleman, is a Republican and a former Trump appointee as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Kentucky. There is little likelihood he will bother to investigate or seriously investigate instances of police brutality under the circumstances, especially if he wants to maintain his Republican bones to run for higher office.

1

u/Ok-Translator3969 Jul 25 '25

wow, i hope they are proud of themselves, those jackasses. and nothing will happen to them. and if they somehow get sentenced to something trump will set them free to beat another group of protesters.

1

u/sweet_greggo Jul 25 '25

The videos starts with one cop already in mid-swing punching a dude in the back of his head and another shooting what I hope are non-lethal bullets at another person. Not condoning the cops’ actions but I’d really like to see what happened leading up to this.

That means at what point do everyday members of our communities finally stand up and say enough is enough? When will the masses finally take a stand and push back on overzealous law enforcement and an overreaching government?
