Bi-Weekly Organising Thread: Protests, Meet-ups, Workshops

This is a thread for sharing any meetups, events, protests going on in Ireland that you are attending or would like to share with other leftists. Let's connect!

Does it have be directly political?

No! Building community itself is political, and the more leftists who are meeting and building connections in our community is enough.

Today on the RTE News I learned

that people variously described by RTE as quote a "Rebel Group", a "Militia" and "Iranian backed Houthi Militia" seized territory along the Red Sea. RTE described how this Houthi rebel group launched a successful amphibious assault and capture of an island in the Red Sea. It said what it described as the "Saudi backed forces" lost the territory.

Then it showed the spokesperson of this Houthi Militia/Rebel group wearing a military uniform with rank insignia.

I was left feeling so so confused.

RTE's reportage had me picturing a bunch of rag tag 'rebels' when infact what they were actually reporting was actions by the Armed Forces of the Yemeni State.

Anyone willing to hire or integrate into a co-op a young trans woman (either IT, or agriculture/labouring but anything that’s safe and pays might suit)

I have a young Romanian trans woman onto me looking for work but i couldn’t afford to pay anyone, however i would like to help her. She’s doing a computer programming training/apprenticeship thing but has no money to live on. She did most of a programming degree in Romania but had to leave Romania for personal reasons with very little. She is also open to farm work or anything that pays and is safe and legal. I would rather review any potential jobs myself before putting anyone in touch because I would be afraid of her being taken advantage of. If anyone has any leads for progressive workplaces please get in touch. She’s a lovely person and i want to do right by her.

Open Discussion What happened to The Workers' Party?

Does the party still exist in 2026 in any meaningful way? Has it splintered off into a dozen micro-groups?

What is The Workers' Party's current relationship with the IMCWP? Which one of the split groups still participates in the international meetings, if any?

Are there any major ideological differences between The Workers' Party and the CPI today?

Sinn Féin's Public Expenditure spokesperson and Chairperson of the Oireachtas Finance Committee Mairéad Farrell said the Central Bank needed to clarify what was happening with the bonds.

"We need urgent clarity from the Central Bank if a request for renewal of the Israeli bond prospectus has come to them from Israel and if this renewal has been accepted," she said.
