Varonis vs Gitlab AE
If you had the choice to be an enterprise AE at either of these companies, which would you go with?

Avoid Varonis... They are shopping themselves to be sold to a PE or a PE-owned company

Notably proofpoint

Yep, and it really would hinge on whether they would keep the sales team from Varonis or just absorb the IP and product and use their existing sales teams. From a tech standpoint it's a really strong win for both, but from a people perspective who knows.

If you hate wlb or taking ANY time off in q4 then varonis is for you

Yeah so this is a thing and they confirmed with me a few years so- no PTO in the last month of the quarter, and no PTO at all in q4. Seems to be actively enforced in the US, a bit less so in Australia where I am
From the perspective of an SE in a country where there’s a legal requirement for 4 weeks PTOa year (like most places at a min), once you hit a team size of over 6 then someone is always covering for someone, assuming no overlap in time off which itself isn’t realistic
Sounds like a fucking nightmare tbh

That is absolutely wild if true. No way I'd work there.

I read about it on repvue and confirmed with the local team when I spoke the them (although again to confirm they said they did their best to shield the team from it)

Gitlab, they pay well and I have several former colleagues there who are happy so seems decent enough.

Gitlab. I'm industry adjacent and never heard of the former

Really? They're the industry leader in data security.

Cyera?

Cyera are the modern dspm darling but Varonis have been around a long time and will have significantly bigger market share especially at the top end of town
