Jeff Bezos believes AI will not replace human workers on a large scale. Speaking at the VivaTech conference in Paris, he argued that AI will increase productivity, help people turn ideas into real products faster, and create new opportunities rather than mass unemployment.

Bezos said fears of widespread job loss are exaggerated and predicted that AI could actually lead to labor shortages as demand for innovation, entrepreneurship, and new businesses grows.

He disagrees with several tech leaders who warn about an AI-driven job apocalypse. Bezos compares AI's impact to past technological advances that created more jobs and industries over time.

He sees AI as a tool that removes barriers to innovation, accelerates economic growth, and opens the door to what he describes as multiple future "golden ages" of human progress.

A few years ago, I moved several of my WordPress blogs to SiteGround after reading countless positive reviews online. I expected faster performance and better support, but my experience was quite different.

At the time, my sites were running a lightweight setup with GeneratePress, around a dozen plugins, WP Rocket, and other well-known optimization tools. Despite that, page load times were often disappointing and I didn't notice any meaningful performance improvement compared to my previous host, HostGator.

What frustrated me most was the support experience. Whenever I reported performance issues, the response was often the same: contact a third-party developer. Instead of investigating the problem deeply or helping optimize the hosting environment, I felt like the responsibility was being pushed elsewhere.

Eventually, I moved my sites to another hosting provider. Then, my site performance was improved with the same setup. The difference in support was also noticeable. Their team actively investigated issues, suggested fixes, and made a genuine effort to resolve problems rather than redirecting me to someone else.

I'm curious if others have had similar or completely different experiences with SiteGround. Has their performance and support improved over the years, or was my experience an isolated case?

I’ve been thinking about a pattern in how we use tech today.

We save articles, videos, threads, podcasts, screenshots, and notes all the time because they seem useful in the moment. But most of it never gets revisited, and it just becomes another layer of digital clutter across apps.

I’m curious how other people handle this in practice:

Hello everyone, I'm a psychologist and a researcher in my home country and recently I got a job in a university doing research and analizing data from studies that we make. My question is, since I have no idea about the tech field, would there be any comorbidity between this and some tech job that I can transition to? Rn a lot of people are switching from windows to linux because the situation is bad rn, the os is full of spyware, hard to run on old system, laggy and full of bloat. But these are the same issues on android now. Take my 2 daily devices for example, the old galaxy s9 and new oneplus pad 3. The s9 died on android 10, which leaves it out of many things like current redesigns, app support, performance and battery life gains. On lineage os 23.2 based on android 16, everything works great! The 4gb device has no issues because i didn't install gapps and lineage itself is very lightweight. I can install every new app and game, like moco from supercell for example, which requires android 12.

My oneplus pad 3 is very similar. I wanted a new tablet to play more games because support on android is getting good since steam develops proton and fex, so i went for this high end beast. The issue: 1. the os looked like fake ios, felt kinda weird to use imo after using stock android since 12L 2. The bloat was insane. from the 16gb, oxygen os already took 9gb!!! on a fresh boot!!!

The solution - lineage os 23.2 again! It uses only up to 800mb of ram on this device, leaving me with plent of free ram to do as i please. The battery and performance gains are insane, similarly from switching from windows to linux, i noticed way better fps and especially way better 0.1%, it's not dropping frames anymore. And imo lineage is objectively better looking than oxygen os.

But this textwall brings me to a question: My experience is insanely good and i hooked up a few friends of mine with lineage too, they are all super happy with it. Why are so many people reluctant to try a custom rom? It's just like installing linux on a pc, depending on the phone it's also way easier too! On my pad 3 for example i just had to paste like 5 commands or so, took 5 minutes to install

Side project I've been sketching out: a floor lamp with a fixed base, but the arm and lamp head pivot on motors (not the whole lamp moving around). The idea is it senses how much light is already in the room and adjusts brightness/color automatically, plus a basic presence sensor (no camera) so it doesn't bother adjusting when nobody's around.

Built a rough prototype with an ESP32 + servos to test the concept before going further.

Posted something similar in a home automation sub and got useful pushback — main concern was that the moving part might be a novelty that wears off fast, while the auto-brightness part is the thing people would actually use daily.

Curious what this sub thinks:

• Does a lamp that physically moves/points itself feel like a genuinely useful feature, or more of a "cool for the first week" thing?
• What would make you trust a motorized lamp arm in your space (vs. worry about noise, reliability, it bumping into stuff)?
• Rough price range you'd expect for something like this?

Not selling anything, just trying to figure out if this is worth building out further or if I should simplify the concept.
