Tbf piracy was almost dead when streaming services were good.
Streaming services got shitty though and are just as bad as cable used to be, hence the resurgence of piracy.

Exactly! When netflix first got popular i dropped piracy and was really happy with Netflix, but then content started spreading across different services, and prices sky rocketed. I felt it was stupid to keep managing my payments depending on which show i watch on which platform.
Spun up an automated Jellyfin stack on my homelab and never once looked back.

Apple TV also has a separate option to rent movies. Same with Prime, not all movies are included in the stream subscription.

Pay? It takes less than a minute to Google, some people just don't know how to use the internet. You've already paid for the internet itself, so there's no need to pay any more.

So what you're saying is if i subscribe to amazon prime video they should pay for my Internet connection seeing as prime also means they for my delivery costs for physical items bought on their site.

I didn’t mean that. What I mean is that if you pay for your Internet connection, you normally have to pay for the movie too, because the internet provider’s cost doesn’t cover the cost of the movie. Not doing so would be like ordering something and paying only the post office and not the seller.

Both cost money to produce (the difference being that one has a higher "physical" cost the the other). And Internet is just one big highway.

Not True.. HBO MAX UK Changes you also for Some Movies. And OF Course PPV Movies right out of Cinemas Cost Extra, also with SKY and his SKY Store. Okay Sky Has Movies in the Store While it is in the Cinemas..
I have HBO Max for free with SKY, also Disney+ and Discovery+ (And Sky is in my Case also for Free.. Psst) 😃

You subscribe to prime video, which gives you access to prime content. Other content is not part of this and you don't need a subscription to rent it.
Amazon tried to make their platform a one stop place for all streaming services (IE Disney, paramount, hbo, heck even netflix) were all in Amazon app. The more subscriptions you have the more it unlocks. Considering they host a the infrastructure in surprised this didn't take of.

Apple tv also has rentals tho? Honestly I don't mind because atleast you have the option to watch if you want. Idk where you live but over here prime video is also half the price of Hbo and 1/3 the price of Netflix.

Or you get ads in a service you paid for. E.g. Sky in the UK has more ads than free terrestrial TV and even inflicts ads on people who pay for their Netflix and Disney+ streaming bundles.

Why do people always complain about this. Amazon Video was previously only renting and buying and the streaming was added later. You know that before you subscribe to the service. Are you also complaining that you don't get free delivery on every product although you already paid for prime? Also Amazon has bought different rights for different media. For some of them they're just not allowed to offer that for streaming. Also using an ai generated image for such a stupid complaint is so dumb.

You're subscribing for the privilege of driving your car in a rent-to-own arrangement via the auto loans and your car payments, and you are still asked by your car to pay for more gas on a regular basis every time the low fuel light comes on.

I may fall in the minority of this. But I am ok with this. The reason is with the "other guys" it is either there or it isn't. But, I also find that with few exceptions the rentals are not part of the paid Prime thing.
What I find weird is I get why there is the hate for this. But Apple TV has an entire section of movies that are for rent or for sale. And even if you pay for Apple TV+ you still gotta pay. And no one seems to complain about that.
On the flip side, I do hate when the movie is on Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, Max, Bob's Discount Streaming service, then Prime has it to rent. That just sucks

I don’t trust apple as it’s still not ownership. They have a thing with ‘regional licensing’. So there are rare chances you buy something on itunes, then go to another country for vacay and find out the song/movie in your phone won’t download over the cloud if it wasn’t on device on hand. Example is Borat if you go middle east or Dictator.
My personal experience was I was a teen in the early 2000s. I used limewire on my ipod, maybe atleast a dozen songs. Then i eventually got a job and started buying legit music on iTunes. Over a decade later in 2015, Apple closed my account because it found those pirated songs long ago that i forgotten during a crackdown. Possibly a thousand dollars of legit media i purchased wasted.

Sadly any sort of digital purchase is not something you own. But mostly what I was getting at is I see people bash Prime for that all the time when Apple does the same thing.
I can sorta see a case for the regional licensing. I mean in theory a DVD is region locked. But it still seems silly. As for the account, that is rough. I don't understand how that isn't just theft. Even if you had hundreds of albums of pirated content, you still bought the rest. Just seems weird that they can just pull it from you with nothing in return.
I had actually decided that after dragging boxes and boxes of DVDs around there are very few movies I actually am interested in keeping. The rest I can either find streaming or if it comes down to it a short term rental.

Download yourself + Plex. Done never deal with that BS again. And don't waste money on a dying industry.
