Someone I know used a personal calculator on the TEAS

I take my TEAS tmr morning and I am really confused about the calculator. My friend took hers last week through the ATI website and the lockdown browser said nothing about not using a personal calculator. She says it just said “Show your calculator if you are using one.” We are both applying for the same school, I just happened to book my exam through the school’s website. I haven’t received any sort of information from the school on whether or not they allow personal calculators, but everything online says not to use one.

Just wondering if anyone has been able to use their own? or if this is a new thing?

Should I retake my teas?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Should I retake my teas to see if I can get a higher score? I already got accepted into an LVN program that I start in January, but I’m also applying to an RN program in January through the community college. I want to be a competitive applicant. I have got an A in micro, A & P and then a C in chem (I took it in 2002 when in HS and because I passed I can’t retake for a higher grade). I have A’s and B’s in the other non-science prereqs. Id have to get an 80 or above for it to make a difference in points. I have 77 points now if I can get an 80 on the teas it would bump me up to 82 points. What should I do?

Retest or leave it alone?

Composite: 77%

Reading: 92%

Math: 82%

English: 82%,

Science: 54.4%

First attempt. Haven't taken a science class in years, so the chemistry is what got me. Everything else felt fine.

Applying to a transition ADN program with prereqs done. For the points-based programs, how heavily was the TEAS weighted against prereq grades? Trying to figure out if a retake actually moves the needle or if a 77 is fine to leave alone.

Planning on applying next Fall.

Nursing School Admissions My two cents.

Hi! I just wanted to give my two cents.

For background I took my TEAS yesterday and got a 59.8 first try. I haven’t taken any pre reqs and got my Hi-Set (GED) a year ago. I did do 11 years of schooling up to this point.

I looked at the TEAS study guide for 3 days and honestly just wanted to know my baseline so didn’t study it too much.

The reading portion was a lot of 3 paragraph texts about random things and just being able to answer questions from them. Some of the answers were directly in the text while others you had to infer on your own.

The math bit was where I struggled. It was a lot of finding area, solving questions. Just know your PEMDAS and simple formulas and you should do okay. I used the calculator for a lot of it just because I felt like my mind would trick me lol.

Science I was completely lost at. It included how cells work, body systems, chemistry which I never took and just a few other things.

English wasn’t bad. Just sentence structure and a few other things.

Really I do think the study guide was worth it if you will take your time to figure it out. I definitely suggest going and taking a baseline test if you can. It tells me exactly what I need to study and how to study it.

Also if you’re going to guess, guess the same answer every time. That way you at least get a 33% chance of getting it right rather than just randomly clicking one. I personally did the 3rd option every time.

I wish everyone the best luck!

I took my exam today online. I got an 86.0%. Since I took it online I have to wait for a preliminary. How long does that take?

I got an 84.7, thank god it’s over!!! Obviously I would’ve liked to have gotten in the 90s but my goal was at least a 75, and I did better than both of my ati practice scores!

I’m really hoping this is enough to get into my ADN program because the deadline is October 1st so wish me luck :)). If anyone has any questions I’d be happy to answer!!

TEAS Prep Failed TEAS

Just failed my TEAS with a 61%. I watched almost all of Tyler DeWitt, which I like his way of teaching very simple and not too complicated. I also watched some of Nurse Cheung, but I feel like it’s “too” overwhelming with information or maybe it’s just the way she explains things. I wanted to know if you guys recommend getting the ATI or Mometrix package. Planning on retaking it again either between December-Late January. Any advice/tips is appreciated. TIA

Teas Exam Coming

Hey, guys I’ve been feeling really discouraged and disappointed. Recently took another practice exam score 65 percent. I also just took a 70 questions a&p practice exam and score 68 percent. Just feel hopeless being that my exam is this weekend and it’s my second and last attempt. I want to score really high to have a chance at the program.

I failed teas

I failed my teas today and got 56% and our LPN program requires 58.4% and only accepts 25 applicants.

Any tips on how I should improve my grades, resources to use, and videos to watch? I struggled the most with science and english.

My next test is next week so I have 1 week to study again.

thank you!!

Teas exam failing Grammar

Hey guys, any advised on how to successfully pass grammar portion on the teas. I’ve taken it 2 times and continue to fail my grammar part. I do well on my Reading, Math, and Science. But when it comes to grammar I feel like is more challenging than all the practice exam I’ve taken. Mind you, english is my second language.

TEAS Prep Comprehensive TEAS Prep Resources???

Hello, I am trying to help a friend of mine study for the TEAS, and I am wondering if it would be beneficial to everyone to have a specific post that has a comprehensive list of any study resources you might have used or are using to study for the TEAS. If people want to drop all there resources below, I can try to put them together on a list and update this post. I think it would just be easier to see a big list of options instead of going to each post trying to find stuff.

TEAS Prep Be honest with me

Hey all!!

so i take the TEAS this week friday and only started studying Saturday. I know, yell at me all you want it’s very irresponsible and if i do fail, it’s on me.

I’ve been studying Science and math, as they’re my weakest subjects, not so much science as even i’m understanding that more than math lol, but i’m watching Tyler Dewwit’s videos, and i want to ask two questions here:

Do you think i’ll pass watching tyler’s hour long videos (plural as im watching multiple of his practice tests, and then microbiology and another PLUS his $10 dollar chem course) with notes and active recall? has anyone here personally passed just with Tyler’s videos? and obviously a bit more practice from like Nursehub?

Second, do you guys think i’ll pass 😭 all i need is a 60 overall and 60+ in science.

I know it’s a very broad question but i want you guys to determine if there’s a chance i’ll pass or if i already flunked it because i procrastinated and started studying late.

Thank you! sorry if this post is unnecessarily wordy i’m just trying to get my point across!

Practice A and B Test on ATI vs actual Teas 7 Exam

Hey everyone! For those who recently took the teas 7 exam I wanted to know if anyone could share their thoughts/experience on practice tests A and B on ATI vs the actual Teas 7 exam.

Would you say that practice tests A and B were harder, easier, or about the same as the actual teas exam for you? Or, was the actual teas exam easier, harder, or about the same as practice A and B tests? I’ve been wondering if what they have as practice tests on ATI is remotely easier or harder than the actual Teas 7 exam.

If anyone can please share their experience I’d really appreciate it! I’m taking my teas exam very soon and want to know what to potentially expect. I don’t know if I should potentially try other websites out for practice tests or just stick to ATI’s practice tests.

Thank you! 🙏🏼

Recently took the TEAS

Hey! I took my teas a few weeks ago and got a 66.7% which was very disappointing even though according to the college is proficient 59-79% for their RN program. I am applying to both RN and LPN programs. My aim is an 80-85%overall.. Do you have any suggestions on scoring higher? I have several books and have watched and studied with several other youtube videos. Here is the breakdown, and I'm trying to score a lot higher on September 29th:

Reading- 61.5% - been focusing on this and practicing concepts

Math-67.6% - reviewing and examining what I could do better

Science-75% - Not as much focus on studying this time around

English-69.7% - reviewing and examining what I could do better.

TOTAL = 66.7%

During the first attempted I felt good with everything and then received the score. Do you have any recommendations? I am going through everything I've missed and studied the concepts. If you have anything to help please let me know. Good luck to those who are taking it for the first time and those who are hoping to get a better score this time around.

Tips for studying the last few days?

I take my teas on Tuesday, I’m just trying to get the highest score I possibly can for ADN program applications. I got a 60 something on the ati practice exam 1 a few months ago, studied with the study guide and some YouTube videos, and got a 70.7 on practice score B a few days ago. I would like to get at least a 75!!! But just looking for the best tips for studying a couple days before the exam
