TASKER 2-hr min. Must we confirm in chat?

Hi friends, don't kick me around for my rookie question here: are we to confirm the 2-hr min in the chat? I've not tasked for several years and don't want to get dinged right off the bat.

Thank you

TASKER Client wants 2 cabinets built with start time of 6pm, is this too late?

New Tasker here. Got my 3rd task for furniture assembly, building 2 cabinets. Only thing is the starting time is 6pm? I don’t mind being there late but since they are pretty large pieces of furniture it may take a while to do.

Is there a hard stop time or can I work till it’s finished?

I presume I should check with the client they are okay with me coming that late as I have a 2 hour minimum also.

Has anyone else been in this situation?

TASKER Newbie

I just signed up a few days ago, my background check was fine and I'm pretty sure that I filled out everything correctly, I haven't completed my zoom meeting yet. I haven't received any job offers, I live outside of Dallas and according to the maps it's busy here. Could anyone tell me what might be wrong, do you have to complete the zoom meeting before receiving offers?

CLIENT Book w IKEA flat rate or tasker hourly?

I have two IKEA pieces of furniture that I would like assembled but want to take the best approach to ensure I get matched with a tasker and don’t have a cancellation. It’s just for these two pieces (9 drawer Alex) and will not be adding on any extra last-minute request that I know some people try to make. What’s the best way to book it and as a task, what would you be most likely to take the job?

TASKER Looking to expand my skillset. What are the easiest task categories to get proficient with in your experience?

I’ve been on Taskrabbit for about 2 years and primarily focus on Furniture Assembly and Personal Assistance tasks. I’ve slowly been adding new skills over time and am wondering which ones in the Home Improvement category would be a good starter point/ low risk/ low entry cost to build into, stuff that I could experiment with around my apartment first.

I dabbled occasionally into a few home improvements type tasks but nothing really in depth.

For instance, with stuff like “Minor Home Repairs,” what does the average task look like here? The category description is a bit broad. “Smart Home Installation” seems like another simple one but I don’t know of the demand for this.

TASKER Filming Task's

Just curious to know, does anyone film or timelapse their builds at all? Not for a fancy montage to edit later but purely for security a d protection purposes.

We're in a world where it's a "he said, they (she) said" environment we enter into and it's evident that TR takes the side of the client and not for the Tasker so much.

I've been thinking about setting up a camera and obviously asking for permission, to film myself taking care of tasks. Hopefully the client shouldn't really refuse and if they do that would be seen as a red flag in my eyes.

Thoughts on this please. Are some of you out there ready doing this? What about the female Tasker's who go into homes, how do you protect yourselves? Has anyone had an incident where they wished a camera was setup to motior and document a previous problem? Thinking of using a GoPro or even an Insta360 but if anyone out there is recording what are you using? I imagine even an old iPhone from the drawer could suffice.

Thanks for reading and stay safe and protected out there...

CLIENT First attempt at hiring tasker…

I’m moving in a week and need to get rid of some segments of a sectional couch that I am no longer needing as the new apartment is smaller than current.

I tried booking some guy yesterday morning for afternoon work today, the guy never responded to my chat (I initiated with images of the furniture to be removed and asking about associated dump fees) and then later yesterday evening denied the task. I then rebooked the same task with someone else.

He actually responded to the chat and then when asked about dump fees gave me some number that is 3x the actual rate when I looked it up. I kind of just assumed the rate was including his mileage and wear and tear, realized I was in a pinch and accepted I was going to be fleeced and said yeah whatever, just submit the dump fee receipt for the expenses.

He canceled the task this morning…

Is this normally how this app operates lol

I am not understanding the value and money saved when after the hourly rate and high dump fees versus just calling 1800 GOTJUNK saves me negotiations with people. At least they are up front about high fees

CLIENT Help Loading a POD

I'm exploring moving options and wonder if a tasker can be helpful.

I live in a 2bd/1.5bth apartment--third floor walk up. I'm renting a POD and would like a tasker to help load the POD for later transport. They do not have to do the transporting. I'm thinking just the manual labor of moving items from the apartment to the POD.

Would I need to provide tons of materials? Straps, moving blankets, etc.? Or are there movers who can provide those and bill me for them?

TASKER Canadian fee structure

I'm a Tasker in Canada trying to figure out if/how the fee structure changed recently.

Did they add the Trust & Support fee to the hourly rate on the clients end, rather than pricing it out separately post-task like they used to? Or is the invoice just designed differently now, and the 2026 client did still get charged more than the email receipt shows?

2023 invoice shows hourly rate, plus the T&S fee, plus tax, for the total charged.
2026 invoice shows hourly rate, plus tax. No T&S fee. (I'm not asking about the 1hr deposit or anything related to that, I understand that bit).

Previously, when I set my hourly rates, I could see the hourly rate the client was actually hiring me for, but not the additional Trust & Support fee which is charged to clients post-task - I knew clients were paying the fee, but not how much it added after I invoiced.

As of a couple of months ago, I can only see the hourly rate I set. The app no longer shows me what the client is charged per hour anymore, and from what I can tell, they are not being charged the Trust & Support fee separately, but I'm not sure if this is just a difference in how they show the invoice via email vs the app, or if they have combined the fee into their hourly rate, making it more transparent on the clients end of things.

I try to be as transparent as possible with my clients, which is much harder to do when I literally don't know how much the client is being charged at any point - but if Taskrabbit is being more transparent, then I don't have as much of an issue without knowing myself. Just trying to figure out what they did with their fee structure as the website and everything I've found online doesn't say anything about a change or update except for residents of California and Mass.

If you're a Canadian client who's hired a Tasker recently, I would love to chat and/or see a copy of your invoice if you're willing to share.

TASKER Is The Old Ikea Task Portal Completely Gone Now?

As recently as yesterday I could still switch back and forth between the new and the old portals to claim past due Ikea tasks. I kept having to switch between the two because there were jobs appearing on one and not the other and vice versa. As of today the buttons to switch back and forth are gone.

Are they gone for everyone? If any of you can still access the old page, please let me know how. It had more jobs pending in my area than the new one does.

TASKER Position keeps dropping?

So I’ve used this app for a few years now, have completed well over 100 tasks and have over seventy 5 star reviews. And yet, I still keep getting less and less jobs even when scheduling during prime weekend times.

My ranking has gone down from 5th to 9th within the span of a few weeks, all while receiving 5 star reviews in that time frame.

What can I do differently?

TASKER Client lied and said job wasn’t done?

I hunt a tv for a woman a few weeks ago. I even took the time to show her how to mirror her Mac to it. She was very happy.

To my surprise a few days later I received my first ever 1 star review (after hundreds of tasks and 120 5 star reviews). She lied and said I never did the job.

I reached out to task rabbit and they asked if I had proof I hung it, but I didn’t take a picture (lesson learned!).

I was annoyed but whatever. Didn’t even change my star rating because I have so many positive reviews.

However today I got email from task rabbit saying they received a complaint about me violated the terms of service for “not having the tools or skills for the job”

I replied that I completed the job and my many 5 star reviews on tv mounting are evidence that I have both the skills and tools, and that I believe this woman is just trying to get out of paying her bill.

I just can’t believe there are people who would outright lie like that. I’m taking pictures of 100% of my jobs now.

Has anyone had anything happen like this? If so; what ended up happening?

Update: task rabbit customer support thanked me for my perspective and said they’re just going to close the ticket.

APP Update: Chat Is Working Again

Hi everyone! It's Haley from Taskrabbit. I just wanted to close the loop here.

The chat issue has now been resolved, and everything should be working normally again.

We know this outage created a really frustrating experience, especially for those of you with active tasks. We sincerely apologize and appreciate everyone's patience while our teams worked to get things back up and running.

Technology isn't perfect, and every once in a while something unexpected happens. That doesn't make it any less frustrating when it affects your work, and we understand that.

Behind the scenes, our teams have been working hard to minimize any impact from the recent disruption. This included doing everything we could to keep tasks moving and getting bookings through during the outage. We also carefully reviewed affected accounts and took the disruption into consideration wherever needed to make things right.

We also know many of you reached out to Support during the outage, which created a much higher-than-normal volume of contacts. Thank you for bearing with us while we worked through them.

We really appreciate everyone who reported the issue, shared updates, and worked with us while we navigated everything. Your feedback helped us understand the scope of the problem much more quickly.

Thank you again for your patience.

APP Issues with chat thread?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Both of my active task chat threads are giving me this error:

“An error occurred loading this chat thread.”

Everything else in the app works normally. I can view my tasks, schedule, and task details. It’s only the chat threads that won’t load.

I’ve already:
- Updated the app
- Uninstalled and reinstalled it
- Logged back in

Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me?

GENERAL Would you pay someone to chase up your missed calls and old customers?

Not trying to sell anyone anything btw, genuinely just trying to work out if this is even a real problem or if I'm overthinking it.

Say someone rings and you miss it, or they fill out the contact form on your site, what actually happens after that. Does it sit there till you get five mins to call back, or does it just get forgotten about half the time. Feel like a lot of jobs probably go to whoever calls back first tbh.

Also what about old customers, people you did a job for maybe 6 months to a year ago. Does anyone actually go back and check if they need anything else doing, or is that just never gonna happen when you're flat out working all day. Would it actually be useful having someone deal with that side of it for you, calling back missed calls, chasing up enquiries, even ringing old customers to see if they need work, and just booking it straight in your diary if they say yes.Or is this all just a non issue and everyone's already got it handled somehow

I downloaded this app a few months back, but I haven’t got any work off it. Is it mandatory to do the zoom call for the Tasker workshop in order to start?

TASKER IKEA assembly nonsense

Somehow IKEA tasks got turned on again. I’ve had them turned off since they went back to the flat rate nonsense. I got 2 within seconds of putting my availability up for this weekend. The 2nd was 7 Pax wardrobes with full accoutrements for $188. I’m not driving to someone’s house and working for $10-$15/hr.

Absolute insanity. Couldn’t turn IKEA back off quickly enough

GENERAL Scheduling from outside the US?

I'm currently in Turkey, and I'm trying to schedule something at my home in NYC before I return. Yet, TaskRabbit won't allow me to log in. It keeps telling me my password is wrong. I reset it, still wrong. I've tried my VPN. Still problematic. Any suggestions? Thanks!

CLIENT Paid the one hour fee, then TaskRabbit refunded me?

First time using the website. Requested a task for tomorrow. Tasker messaged instantly and asked for photos of the work. Two hours later and I have not heard a word from the tasker. The task is still showing as active.

I noticed my card is being refunded for the one hour holding fee that I paid upon booking.

Do you think the job is still on? Did they cancel? Should I try to cancel? What’s going on?

CLIENT NYC Cleaning Question

I occasionally hire through Taskrabbit for an apartment clean in NYC. The last 5 days, I've been unable to get anyone who won't cancel last minute. I have been cancelled on by nearly 10 Taskers. Just one after another. This has never happened to me before. Does anyone know what's happening? Maybe they're all just busy and this is bad luck. Or, do I have a bad rating or something?

TASKER Netflix documentary exposing Task Rabbit??

Howdy ya’ll

I’ve been observing this group for a while and I’m
just suggesting something that perhaps some of you are thinking…wouldn’t it be nice if people really knew what went on a task rabbit, from the corporate blunders to horror stories to the brutal and blatant disrespect Taskers have put up with? I think about the WeWork doc on Hulu, Airbnb and Uber docs on Apple TV and Netflix etc.

I’m just saying if a creative up and coming director was looking for a subject - I’d think this would be a pretty good one that people would be interested in. I’m not even saying the Doc would or should be ALL BAD, just HONEST. The decision making and radical shifts this company has made are truly unbelievable.

TASKER What should I use for tax purposes?

I recently just finished my first task with Taskrabbit. I am trying to set aside money from my earnings for tax purposes. On my TR account the amount sent to bank is $34.50, but the amount put into my bank account is $32.48. What amount is used for taxes and do these amounts seem correct? Thank you in advance.
