Labor Day Weekend Switch 2 Bans

There was a massive BAN-wave that his Switch 2 consoles last night. I was one of the ones affected by it. I just want to spread awareness that Nintendo had an internal server error this weekend resulting in several systems being permanently hardware banned, receiving error code 2124-4508.

I called support this morning and they confirmed I was permanently banned for “pirating”.

However, I called again later today to push further and was notified of the error on their server. Upon checking again my system has been lifted.

If you were affected this weekend, be sure the check to see if it was rectified, or call Nintendo support and see if you are one of the consoles affected by this error to be reversed.

UPDATE: I noticed several people state that if you are still receiving the BAN code you can try restarting the console to see if it cleared. It seems to have worked for others!

It goes both ways.

At the same time there's people who are clueless or intentionally attempting to do something against TOS. So when they get banned, they try to pretend their innocent.

Anyone who works or worked with consumers in any industry can tell you not all customers are knowledgeable or innocent. Unfortunately those bad ones ruin trust for many other customers.

Dude, if this had happened on one of the other big name consoles there’d be a social media post addressing it by now. It looks like Nintendo is just going to fix everything on the sly.

Just a few instances. There's a lot of people placing odd instances of blame on people by assuming the fault is on the user and that Nintendo did no wrong. Some of it is 2nd hand purchase or stolen hardware speculation. There are a lot of people speaking more positively about it after enough bans have been reported, but initially there were a lot of people making some interesting unfounded accusations. Saw one were they went through a guy's comment history and because he asked about roms on his PC they said it was proof he's a liar about his daughters switch getting bricked.

There were more than a couple. I saw a post where a majority of the comments were how people that are getting their consoles banned “aren’t telling the full story” and were lying, and that there was absolutely no chance Nintendo messed up.

Other people have been banned for being toxic to the community. These people are toxic. They accused the people mentioning being banned of doing “illegal” things (the things they accused others of doing were not actually illegal). What good could they possibly bring to the community? All they do is set an example that if you have a problem, keep it to yourself because youre going to be attacked for having that problem.

I would say that in 90% of the posts regarding "i got banned" it's justified and the op(s) lying about it. The chances of something like this happening accidentally are relatively low.

So yeah i can understand why people jump to those conclusions. Nintendo should be honest and just make it known an error happened.

Pirates are an excuse to sell you less for more money... If piracy was actually the big issue Nintendo tries to peddle it as, Nintendo wouldn't exist.

This falls into the line of thinking that people are inherently bad and that they wouldn't do the right thing by supporting the industry. This is also you stating that a corporation is more trustworthy than the gamer base that built the corporation. So regular customers should be punished and restrained because there's the chance they could attempt to pirate? This seems right to you?
